What I mean is your phone can be completely fine. If your previous test was in real complete darkness yours is the worst I have come across in all my days of couch research on this issue, surely you cannot be so lucky. Trust me, you haven’t properly sealed your camera from light in your previous test.

With so much light leakage you don’t even have a chance for night photography. But as long as you’re happy.

I can accept mistakes, and escapees. We are human after all. But I cannot accept if Apple says this is normal to have one so bad and another good and then pretend cannot replicate the issue. Imagine back to the days of antenna gate with iPhone 4 but what if Steve Jobs insist everyone holding the phone wrong. They should do the right thing and fix this not send it back to customer. In my job if we treat customers like this in a few exchanges will get escalate and director come screw our ass. And my business is kind of a monopoly lagi.

Agree, it is foolish to go far and specifically timed events and locations with “just a phone”.
But it is very important for previews, rangefinding and chimping. No camera process as fast as a phone JPEG for Astro and low light. With that info you can setup your dedicated camera.

But it is beside the point. Defects are defects. I wouldn’t mind at all to be refunded 100% for my phone and Apple keep their in spec products for others to use.

Guys. I have accepted the grief, and now I am moving on.
Possibly I will trade my phone away but since my wife has an 15Pro that can do astrophotography properly, I will take my time to decide what next.

OH just in case you wondering - my phone camera problem is still there, and I found even more bugs.

Apparently if you set to 30s and enable timed shutter release you can get 42s shutter speed. BUT it will terminate at a random time between 10 to 30s. Some of the time, the shot is not processed and not saved.

Bugs left and right. Keyboard buggy, emoji buggy

My camera comes out bluish if trying to take a 30s long exposure night mode in the dark. Cannot resolve, send back to Apple no fix return to me. Bear in mind some units are completely fine, some are like mine.

Scrolling is jerky in various apps.

Not a bug - AI is not yet arrive.

I encountered a shortcut not launching recently but not sure yet.

I feel the keyboard once in a while does not register. But maybe it’s difficult to reproduce.

Today with some free time at the Switch while waiting for my phone to be returned to me, I tried roughly 5 Iphone pro/pro max. Only 1 in the store showed blue.

In my total experience with this issue, I have seen 3 units with issue, tested about 10 units total.

I am honestly peeved with Apple right now, and I think it will take a lot more to earn back my trust after this. I am tied to iOS yes but I don't have contract with them.
My thoughts right now is don't buy 17. Anyway my upgrade cycle is easily 3 years+, so by then Iphone 20 release and I will likely buy 19, hopefully it is all good with no issue. Otherwise no go.

Now let’s look forward. I’m experimenting with apps. I like AstroShader and seems like it can also produce 30s shutter speed without the blue. With bonus of being auto stacking I think it’s a worthwhile free workaround.

Another method is to trade in your 16pm for “upgrade” at the switch if you really want to. Perhaps by dice roll it’s worth it to you to suffer 1k + loss…..to Tim.

Or trade it in for a pixel. It’s got the best astrophotography chops, max shutter time 4:30minutes!

I believe you have accidentally switched on Macro mode and forced the scan on the wide angle camera.
It is very aggressive if you allow it to automatically switch. Its the flower icon. You can disable auto macro if you want.

Edit- misunderstood. Damn I am a bloody magnet for defect.

I tot uncle Tim will treat me well but he is just as nasty as Samsung.

like kevintth says, if I get you correctly you want to transfer your whatsapp chats from S22 to an Iphone. In this case the target Iphone must be from fresh. Even if you use Windows apps like Dr. Fone etc.

Those paid apps can transfer selectively like only Whatsapp, or a few other apps but not everything.

If you use the basic tools from Apple to transfer to Android, (I have not tried) I suppose they will bundle as much as possible.

I came from Samsung in 2019 after Huawei was removed from Google Android, got no choice. Samseng and poor quality go hand in hand with bad software, poor battery life and exynos drinking battery .

I tot Apple is super until iPhone 16. SW bugs here and there, camera hw got issue, send for warranty they also don’t even want to replace the camera module. Come on in 20 days after purchase, I didn’t even have hopes for full phone replacement.

Now I won’t default recommend Apple. Better try Google Pixel. Not that I have any experience.
