but I can say its quite useful in city areas.

2. 1 year battery life - just change battery after it run out
3. apple tag report to apple phones nearby, android tag report to android phones nearby.
if there are no phones nearby, the air tags will not be able to report the gps data.

holdup on the 3rd point. meaning it will use OTHER PEOPLE's android phone to transmit the GPS data? how does that work? they dont connect to tag itself, no?

i understand airtag report to owner iphone when they are near to airtag

Yeah you can know there is an AirTag but it doesn’t help you in finding it. Especially when the speaker is removed. I have mine removed in my car

And it takes a while for your iPhone to show the notification. A solid 24 hours if not wrong

Even for apple airtag , thats how it works. It will ping other ppl iphone for airtag . The iphone will send a encrypted location signal to the airtag which will in turn send the data to your iphone. The best part is other ppl wont even know that their iphone is being pinged.

near is Bluetooth range that's why the specs about 30m. But if outside of this range the airtag has to piggyback off nearby devices that are in the network (one can opt out) since they need internet to tell owner its 10000km away.

basically
the tag just uses phone background to ping back to HQ
the location is not the tag, but the location of the phone that ping back

more phones around , get a clearer picture

android phones give too much freedom to to user
where they can turn off location on their phone itself
so that is useless even with a lot of phone around

while apple not exactly respecting their user
and the user is somewhat forced to accept these potential loopholes

No. Changed to 15 mins.
If iPhone detect an unrecognized Air Tag following you for 15 mins, it will alert.

This is to prevent people tracking/stalking others without their knowledge.

the samsung tag only works when samsung phone is around. i dont think their market share is big in malaysia, since xiaomi, oppo, vivo is much cheaper and same spec as their phones. im obviously speaking out of my butt, i dont have data to back this up.

Although ANDROID has a bigger market share compared to Apple, the number of iphones is more compared to individual brands. So the samsung tag might not work, apple air tag might work better.

Airtag don't transmit gps lar
Airtag use the same tech when the 1st mobile phone aka water bottle phone aka big brother big is invented. It triangulate the signal send from the phone to the station tower.
For airtag, it is like old days mobile phone and your iphone or ipad with bluetooth enable become station tower. Airtag just periodically ping signal outward.

you mean... when I travel with a friend with an airtag with me, my friend would get notified after 15 mins?
