Im using Nutriedge now...
I have used Origin, Canidae, and OvenBaked. So far Nutriedge seems suits my dog.

Different dog will react to different brands i think, try them and decide on which suits your DR.

Bought Orijen LBP for my GR pup today. He's already had 2 meals today and he seems to like it a lot. Will continue monitoring his feeding acceptance.... biggrin.gif

I am a new owner to a 3 month old GT pup. Bought from a home breeder that sort of conned me. My pup was infested with ticks and he was less than 8 weeks old and underweight. I know it is better to adopt but I'm glad I rescued it earlier as after I cleared it from ticks it had tick fever and nearly died. Luckily, I brought him to the vet on time. Now I give it the best food and he's no longer scrawny and playful as hell!

Added on August 3, 2012, 1:54 pmHe is growing well now but his fur seem to be short like a lab!

Am trying to housebreak my pup GR. Just got him on Saturday...

Have him in a PlayPen at the moment - feeding and sleeping him in the Pen and I'll bring him out approx after 10-15mins after his meals to train to relieve himself outside the house. Apart from some play time around the house, I try to limit his movement within the PlayPen ONLY. Is this OK?

Prior to that, he was roaming around the house with no boundaries and he always relieves himself in the house itself. He seems very agitated ever since I limited his movement within the PlayPen area.

Feeding him ORIJEN Large Breed Puppy 3 times a day. 11.00am - 3.00pm - 7.00pm

First time dog owner thus would appreciate all the advices possible.... notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

For me I dont limit my dog in PlayPen but since still puppy still ok but I dont recommend when get older... I feeding him twice a day in morning and night and walk them morning and night. I use to bring her to jungle tracking (bukit gasing) on Saturday or Sunday.

Do train her about toilet train, basic command such as obedient training. That is useful when they get older.

You can see his poo weather suitable for him or not. Too hard is not good and too soft also... refer to some website you will find more info.

Intending to limit him around the PlayPen only when he's a pup. After he is well trained and old enough - will let him free. He is just 1 1/2 months old now.

Any advice on the right & proper manner for Toilet Training?

I was told to opt for the Obedience Training when he is about 5-6 months old only - Right?

Its never too young to train them. I watch Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer on Nat Geo Wild a lot. It really helps! I house broke my 3 month old GR in about 2 weeks.

You just need patience and watch his actions every 20-30 mins, then let him outside to snif and do his bisnes. Wait for a while till he pees or poop.

When I first got mine I lock him in the toilet with newspaper before sleep. Wake up earlier and let him out. If I wake in the middle of the night I let it out too. It helps if you have time in the house for the first 2 weeks to monitor him in the day. Patience is needed as they can't control their bladder. If he accidentally pees or pooped in the house clean it up at once to avoid having the scent linger, use multipurpose spray ons. Just keep bringing him outside and he will be doing his bisnes out there in no time. Its all about routine. They are really smart! Good luck!

That's what I'm doing now (not the locking up in the bathroom bit) but the bringing him out to let him relieve himself. However, he does pee & poos in the house too.....not all the time he relives himself when being out....still drawing his patterns...

Is it OK to give him treats when he is 1.5 months old? hmm.gif

I don't lock him inside the bathroom tongue.gif I use the playpen to surround the entrance. Thats why you have to monitor him from time to time then let him out. For example after he accidentally pee in the house. Correct him then clean the pee. In 20-30 mins time take him out. When you are out let him snif and roam until he pees. Then take him in. If he doesn't, go back outside after a while. Til he does it.

Added on August 7, 2012, 3:15 pmwhere is your location? Maybe we can let them meet and play. smile.gif

Added on August 7, 2012, 3:16 pmIf he is already on solid food.. it is ok to give treats.

Call MKA Malaysia Kennel Association they have alot of training and is quite reasonably priced. Dunno if it is updated but their 10 week canine training is RM100 for members. Joining fee is RM100 a year as member. So total RM200. Check it out.

Dear all,

I am planning to adopt a 2-year old golden retriever. Can anyone share with me what do you feed the dog? Kibbles? How much is the dog food cost per month?

Thank you.

I feed mine ORIJEN Puppy Large Breed Dog and I believe if you're opting for ORIJEN as well for a 2 year old GR - you should go for the ORIJEN Adult. It costs circa RM290+ for the 13.5kg pack. Some Pet Shops do offer some discounts on ORIJEN packs as well.... nod.gif nod.gif nod.gif

My Ah Fook went to the puppy.com training. Good cos the teachers are really dog lovers. Ah Fook graduated as good canine citizen but I'm ashamed to say he will be needing a refresher course soon. My mum says like never go to school before. Hahhahaha
