QUOTE(Rushy @ Aug 5 2012, 10:41 AM) Im using Nutriedge now... I have used Origin, Canidae, and OvenBaked. So far Nutriedge seems suits my dog. Different dog will react to different brands i think, try them and decide on which suits your DR. Bought Orijen LBP for my GR pup today. He's already had 2 meals today and he seems to like it a lot. Will continue monitoring his feeding acceptance....

QUOTE(M2K2Land @ Aug 7 2012, 10:55 AM) I have some sort of experience also... lucky Prince is good and same like your... good to hear that. Am trying to housebreak my pup GR. Just got him on Saturday... Have him in a PlayPen at the moment - feeding and sleeping him in the Pen and I'll bring him out approx after 10-15mins after his meals to train to relieve himself outside the house. Apart from some play time around the house, I try to limit his movement within the PlayPen ONLY. Is this OK? Prior to that, he was roaming around the house with no boundaries and he always relieves himself in the house itself. He seems very agitated ever since I limited his movement within the PlayPen area. Feeding him ORIJEN Large Breed Puppy 3 times a day. 11.00am - 3.00pm - 7.00pm First time dog owner thus would appreciate all the advices possible....

QUOTE(M2K2Land @ Aug 7 2012, 11:54 AM) For me I dont limit my dog in PlayPen but since still puppy still ok but I dont recommend when get older... I feeding him twice a day in morning and night and walk them morning and night. I use to bring her to jungle tracking (bukit gasing) on Saturday or Sunday. Do train her about toilet train, basic command such as obedient training. That is useful when they get older. You can see his poo weather suitable for him or not. Too hard is not good and too soft also... refer to some website you will find more info. Intending to limit him around the PlayPen only when he's a pup. After he is well trained and old enough - will let him free. He is just 1 1/2 months old now. Any advice on the right & proper manner for Toilet Training? I was told to opt for the Obedience Training when he is about 5-6 months old only - Right?

QUOTE(kingchin @ Aug 7 2012, 01:42 PM) Its never too young to train them. I watch Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer on Nat Geo Wild a lot. It really helps! I house broke my 3 month old GR in about 2 weeks. You just need patience and watch his actions every 20-30 mins, then let him outside to snif and do his bisnes. Wait for a while till he pees or poop. When I first got mine I lock him in the toilet with newspaper before sleep. Wake up earlier and let him out. If I wake in the middle of the night I let it out too. It helps if you have time in the house for the first 2 weeks to monitor him in the day. Patience is needed as they can't control their bladder. If he accidentally pees or pooped in the house clean it up at once to avoid having the scent linger, use multipurpose spray ons. Just keep bringing him outside and he will be doing his bisnes out there in no time. Its all about routine. They are really smart! Good luck! That's what I'm doing now (not the locking up in the bathroom bit) but the bringing him out to let him relieve himself. However, he does pee & poos in the house too.....not all the time he relives himself when being out....still drawing his patterns... Is it OK to give him treats when he is 1.5 months old?

QUOTE(kingchin @ Aug 7 2012, 03:14 PM) I don't lock him inside the bathroom I use the playpen to surround the entrance. Thats why you have to monitor him from time to time then let him out. For example after he accidentally pee in the house. Correct him then clean the pee. In 20-30 mins time take him out. When you are out let him snif and roam until he pees. Then take him in. If he doesn't, go back outside after a while. Til he does it. Added on August 7, 2012, 3:15 pmwhere is your location? Maybe we can let them meet and play. Added on August 7, 2012, 3:16 pmIf he is already on solid food.. it is ok to give treats. Still trying to train him....fingers crossed on its effectiveness

QUOTE(kingchin @ Aug 9 2012, 01:36 PM) Call MKA Malaysia Kennel Association they have alot of training and is quite reasonably priced. Dunno if it is updated but their 10 week canine training is RM100 for members. Joining fee is RM100 a year as member. So total RM200. Check it out. Thanks for the head-up mate...will check them out as well. Was browsing through Puppycom's Training Modules as well - pretty good & affordable I would say....

QUOTE(chowyeen @ Aug 25 2012, 11:22 AM) Dear all, I am planning to adopt a 2-year old golden retriever. Can anyone share with me what do you feed the dog? Kibbles? How much is the dog food cost per month? Thank you. I feed mine ORIJEN Puppy Large Breed Dog and I believe if you're opting for ORIJEN as well for a 2 year old GR - you should go for the ORIJEN Adult. It costs circa RM290+ for the 13.5kg pack. Some Pet Shops do offer some discounts on ORIJEN packs as well.... This post has been edited by Xai-V-iaX: Sep 6 2012, 12:25 PM

QUOTE(marc_tkj @ Sep 12 2012, 02:29 PM) Ah Fook's teacher is Mrs Yap and sometimes her husband. He really listened to their instructions. Mebbe cos he dem gian the treats she has - chicken liver. Happy times when I think back of us in doggy training classes on Saturdays. This was way back when the park in Taman Desa was still open for dogs. Now no more liao. How long ago was this mate? Did you continue with the Pre-Novice Class Training?

QUOTE(marc_tkj @ Sep 13 2012, 03:18 PM) His first training ar? erm... playful lo. He walks beside just fine like the other doggies when the teachers ask us to walk in circles. Switches direction beautifully too. My Ah fook is more like Marley (the Labrador in Marley & Me). The thing about doggies is that you have to continue their training. Ah Fook still does sit/stay/down ok but needs work on come and no. Hahaha. His heel is fine altho he will try to wander off during the first few minutes of his walk. A few pulls and corrections and he good for the entire walk. Tell me about it....Casper seems to have forgotten the instructions barely a week after his first class...

QUOTE(dezs8818 @ Sep 18 2012, 11:15 AM) dezs8818: The chances of you adopting a GR puppy is near zero. Why not try adopting an older dog? Saves you money cos they're already grown. Hahaha. Hi, is there any adult for adoption? Petfinder's Golden Retrievers for AdoptionI have attached above the link on GRs or its Mix that are available for Adoption via Petfinder. That's the best I can help with...doesn't hurt to do some reasearch/scouting on your own as well..... QUOTE(yanniieee @ Sep 19 2012, 07:15 PM) Yeah, he sure is. *syok sendiri* Hahaha, anyway, his name is Man. Thinking of bringing him to obedience class after his 3rd injection which was end of this month You went to puppycom obedience class? How was it? That's my Casper Yea, this Sunday will be Casper's 3rd Class... Well since its just Puppy Class so its more of socializing him tho' Casper has learnt to SIT, SIT STAY, HEEL and he's getting kinda good to only EAT ON COMMAND. QUOTE(yvdcsk @ Sep 25 2012, 07:46 PM) Will definitely do so! BTW does anybody know where I can get a nice pet bed for my puppy that doesn't cost too much? I think the ones that they sell in the big chains like Pet Safari and PetsMore are quite expensive, I would think there are cheaper alternatives somewhere (preferably in Damansara/PJ)... Just my 2 pence yea - Don't get a Pet Bed until your pup is trained or atleast knows not to bite randomly. Speaking off my experience. I got a Pet Bed for Casper on the 2nd Day I got him which cost me RM170. He is yet to use because everytime I put on it - he just bites it. Wait till atleast he's a lil grown... I could be wrong here yea...
