Yeah money will take away some of the fun, I am planning my Japan trip currently and everytime I calculate the costs a little of me died inside haha. Will still try to make the most out of my budget trip nevertheless.
In virtually any trip, travel + accommodation costs are the killers. Control these two, and you should be okay. For e.g., sure Japan is pricey. But if you pay only RM650 for KUL/KIX airfare return on D7, say, and stay at hostels or budget hotels at RM120/nite, plus another RM1k for JR Pass for unlimited trains, you are almost there already.
Yen dropping tremendously since early last week.. As at Yesterday, lotsa Money changer selling at 39.00 tiill 39.40
Interesting, bro stimix. Last Nov, my friendly moneychanger at TTDI sold JPY at 39.40 for THIS TRIP. I plan to do Japan again this December, flying into Osaka now, and going south, retracing my trip in '06 (documented HERE), but this time with 3 big kids in tow.
Yeah Bank Negara rate showing J-Yen dropping further.. This Morning 11:30am rate only RM37.98.. Last Friday, it was ~ RM38+...meaning Money changer now probably selling below 39 liao...
Money changer rate today is around 38.95 On Sat it was 39.4
Added on February 20, 2012, 8:39 pm(Start 8am) Asakusa Kannon Temple > Ueno Park > Akiba > Odaiba.
Do you think it's okay to do the above in 1 day? Latest to reach Odaiba maybe 4pm because I want to make it to Fuji TV. Anyone know what time's their last tour? Just know they close at 6pm. :\
Is 2 hours each sufficient for the temple and park?

Very nice set of pics! We were there in Hokkaido too 06-09 Dec 2011. Just the week before you, I think. We took the train from Tokyo to Hokkaido, stopping in Nikko on the way up, and in Nagano on the way back. Very memorable.
