Hi all,
Just wondering if this can be done easily, and if so, how? Can be done online, Maxis CS (123), or walk into store?
Currently have a Maxis Postpaid 98 with Share 48. When making the switch, both will be switched together?
Appreciate those with recent experience to share.
Thanks!
-----------------
Today (15 Jan 2024) I have successfully switched from Maxis Postpaid 98 + Maxis Share Postpaid 48 to 2 x Hotlink Postpaid plans.
Here is a detailed step-by-step how you can do so:
1) Ensure that you are free from contract and the most recent bill is fully paid off.
2) Call Maxis at 123 (between 10am and 10pm ONLY) and tell them you want to switch from Maxis Postpaid to Hotlink Postpaid.
3) The CS agent will tell you this is not possible. They will give you two options - either switch to Hotlink Prepaid for 1 month, or port out to another network and then port in to Hotlink Postpaid.
4) Let the CS agent know that you would like to speak to the "Retention Team", as you are aware that Maxis Postpaid can be directly switched to Hotlink Postpaid.
4a) [Optional] If the CS agent is being funny, threaten gently to report to MCMC.
5) When speaking to the "Retention Team" agent, they will repeat that Maxis Postpaid to Hotlink Postpaid is not possible.
6) Repeat Step 4 that you are aware that Maxis Postpaid can be directly switched to Hotlink Postpaid
6a) [Optional] If the "Retention Team" agent is being funny, threaten gently to report to MCMC.
7) By this point, they will relent and tell you that they can only switch to Hotlink Postpaid 60 (without contract). You need to wait 1 month to downgrade to Hotlink Postpaid 40.
7a) [Optional - Untested] They might be able to go directly to Hotlink Postpaid 40 if you press / threaten further, but I chose to just accept the Hotlink Postpaid 60 first and then make a downgrade in a month's time.
8) Choose to agree. The change will be made within minutes. They will advise to restart your phone.
9) Enjoy your cheaper Maxis Postpaid plan!

Best decision for me amd easy process. I was also on postpaid 98 + share 48. I decided to port out to Umobile cos lately i notice maxis line not as good as b4. So me and my wife went to maxis centre to change both numbers to postpaid 79 first.. Making both main line. After 1 month.. I proceed to port out my number to umobile.
My wife number change to hotlink easily. Just call customer service to request change to prepaid. Make sure you pay yr outstanding bill. Changed within 30mins to hotlink...go to any telco shop to buy yr new hotlink sim card. Done! Btw.. CS offered a rm20 discount per month for 2 years if remain on postpaid... 😁

Do take note there is no supplementary line plan for Hotlink Postpaid. So need to decouple the sup line first then switch to Hotlink postpaid. I suggest you try call 123 to enquire. I have heard conflicting information, some said need to switch to Hotlink prepaid first then switch back to Hotlink postpaid. Some said can direct switch from Maxis postpaid to Hotlink postpaid.

Did this couple of years ago. If i remember correctly, you cant immediately change to hotlink postpaid. You need to port out to other telco and port in back.

TS, why dun you just convert to Prepaid.
Convert the supplementary altogether too.
Hotlink Prepaid rm40/mth Unlimited local calls to all telcos & 80GB quota , speed cap @ 6mbps , which is quite fast , some get rebates like under certain age & over certain age like warga emas. But if you are on contract due to attached device then cannot lor.

too many misinformation and incomplete information.
early last year did this. (if they didn't change SOP, then this is it) two options:
1. maintain same SIM card as maxis - change to rm60/month hotlink postpaid package, use a month then call 123 to downgrade to lower package of choice for all numbers
2. new SIM card from hotlink - you have to fill up online form and await at the service for each numbers. your maxis numbers will die temporarily and it takes about 30min to 1 hours to transfer to the new hotlink SIM to be activated but you immediately start with the package you want.
whichever option, you HAVE to go to a service site to make the request with all mobile number parties and their Identification Card. important info: A. you need to clear your current remaining bill B. make sure you clear or backup all data info if you go with new SIM, deactivated SIM can still access data stored C. they will not automatically transfer your maxis deposit to hotlink account or refund to you. after your first billing from hotlink, then call 123 to close the maxis account and get the refund.

I too have Postpaid 98 + Share 48 plan (no contract). 1st time - CS says need to switch to Hotlink prepaid for one month 2nd time - I told CS if it's so troublesome (Maxis Postpaid > Hotlink Prepaid > Hotlink Postpaid), I might as well go to CelcomDigi as they have cheaper plan promos. (Note: This is a bluff tactic I read from others online). Suddenly, the CS agent says that actually, we can do a direct switch from Maxis Postpaid > Hotlink Postpaid. However they will need the retention team to do it for us. He says they work Monday to Friday and will call tomorrow. According to him, the switch should be possible to be done instantly over the phone. Within 2 mins of ending the call, I received SMS with a case number. Lets see how it goes tomorrow. Maxis or hotlink a problematic lot. I have a non contractual postpaid with celcom and celcom won't allow to switch to prepaid. So I wanna change to hotlink prepaid. Then they say can. But go to the centre. They say need to be on postpaid for 6 mths then can change to hotlink prepaid.
I got fedup. End up changing to xox prepaid with no terms and conditions and get 36 mths validity

Wrote a letter and went to Maxis Center, all done within one day.

Most of the time all we want is hassle free of waiting for sim card postage, otherwise switching can always be done online. This post has been edited by YoungMan: Jan 14 2024, 04:49 PM

QUOTE(vhs1 @ Jan 14 2024, 05:41 PM) May I know why you want to switch? Save money? My Postpaid 98 have 90gb allocation but I usually only use 20 to 25gb a month. Based on my research, Hotlink Postpaid is on the same network as Maxis Postpaid. So no difference in performance and network stability for both calls and data. I don't lose anything in terms of benefits and get to save rm66 per month (rm72 after include sst savings). This post has been edited by contestchris: Jan 14 2024, 06:22 PM

I visited Maxis center at sunway pyramid just now and enquired about this package downgrade. Was also informed that the route would be from conventional Postpaid -> Hotlink Prepaid for 1 mth -> Hotlink Pospaid thereafter. It seems not possible to go direct and bypass the 1-mth Prepaid phase.

Maxis Postpaid -> Port to other telco(eg: Digi) -> Port back to Hotlink Postpaid (no need to wait for 1 month) Hotlink Prepaid - most value, no SST, can change plan easily using the app, that's why Maxis/Hotlink always call and ask customer to move to Hotlink Postpaid instead of Hotlink Prepaid This post has been edited by ThooWeiKit: Jan 15 2024, 01:20 PM
