I bled rear brakes last weekend, and changed out my muffler
raised my rear shock by 3mm

Patent good suspension is very important, next to brakes and tyres
the forks should be NIX30, standard cartridge type, not TTX

Ohlins is cheap for the amount of joy and safety it buys
I would Ohlins and Brembo my bikes any day

*
you are right ttx is only for the rear shock while nix for the forks

and yeah good suspension with proper setting really can change how a bike feels.. thumbup.gif

mADmAN the front brakes hose, are they routed in series, from one caliper to the other, or Y-split?
*
Its daisy chained....goes to clutch side first (the one with the most wear) then to the brake lever side

Plus i also recently rectified an issue with the brake master cylinder not pushing back out the entire way...so im assuming that would have also added to the wear

you know where I'm going with this

if it happens again, get a y-split hose system, such as those with 2 hoses coming out from the master cylinder
or, in your case, 2 hoses coming out from the ABS pump

Fork replacement and still in process of finding the ideal amount of fork oil.

Try cheap or economy (if that sound better) RM70 fork

DIY fork replacement

Replace the existing darken oil with Faito 15W fork oil, still testing for the ideal amount, this take time.

By the way one of the fork's bottom screw not working properly, can't tighten or loosen it no matter what. Definitely a regret buy.

Put on new shoes for the NK. Stock tyres lasted about 13k km to the wear bars.

Went with PR6 120/190 combo. 1 size up from the factory 180 because no stock of the 180 at that time and I was nursing a 3rd puncture (lol, 3 punctures.on the rear in 4 months) so didn't want to wait 2-3 days for stock.

Price 1250. 120/180 is under 1200. Tyre + mounting and balancing. They adjusted and relube my chain for free, cleaned out all the threads. So far happy with the service.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/9M1h9H1WUn2F42Fm9

Done 200km city riding so far. Bike sits slightly taller and the profile is much steeper than the stock 180 maxxis supermaxx. This is due to the PR6 profile and also I'm running 190 on a 5.5" wheel instead of the recommended 6" wheel for 190.

Suspect I will be running with permanent chicken strips due to the low foot peg clearance of the NK.

Carcase is a little stiffer and not much weight difference. Faster to warm up and grip is good even when cold. Not yet tried in the rain yet. Bike falls into a turn quicker due to the steeper profile but I might have to play with the tyre pressure to optimise the feel. The taller rear has made the front feel a little heavier. Will try to tune it out in time.

Honestly, if there is 1 nitpick, I don't like the thread patten of the PR6... Especially for the front. It's like a hot girl putting on granny underpants.

Will see how it goes. Will probably switch it back to 180 next tyre change in about a year.

not keen on spending more money on the Z9 tbh... n new hoses wont be cheap.... but at least i learned to check the clutch side pads now instead of just the throttle side.

the Road6 has very soft carcass, softer than S22, softer than Road5, and any Pirelli that was available to me at the time

compound is full silica, so better wet grip than Road5, and less suitable for hooliganism and hot hot weather, sorry by IMO you made a wrong tyre choice for your aspiring riding style bruce.gif , but the tyres will serve you well

Haha..I won't say I made the wrong choice. For the price and the mileage I need.... There isn't really much to choose from. Other choices like the Angle GT and Roadtec likely be the sportier choice. But the Angle GT doesn't last as long, and the Roadtec is expensive....likewise the equally pricey T32.

Supersports like the S22 will last me 2 months at most. Hahaha

that's really odd, on shopee, Angel GT is the cheapest, then Roadtec01. These are not sporty imo. I've used the Roadtec01 HWM and it bears the Metzeler flat donut signature. Road6 is bulging up, similar to Angel GT.

mileage wise, Roadtec01 gave me 13k (TWI), then Power GP gave me 10k (TWI), and then Racetec around 2k (bald)

tire prices fluctuate wildly here....dunno why.. even from the same shop... even prices in the same shop can fluctuate like crazy within a few months for the same model...

so far the reasonable pricing or shall I say aggressively, is the Siamese Michelin PR6. The only Japan-made tire is Bridgestone whereas Metzeler and Pirelli are now mainland/Phil Made.

after a morning ride, cleaned the rims and sapu some wax that's it

ordered a set of NGK laser plugs to replace a current set of Denso Iridiums that lasted 20k kms over the last 3.5 years - funny thing is my bike now mis-firing and on occasions it sounds like R1 cross-plane

fouling plug is bad for engine, can cause overheating of valves and unnecessary valve stem elongation, please change them when it's due

went to chan bikers today for my versys 1000.

saw my voltmeter pushing up to 15.2v a couple of times... read online that a dead/ weak/ faulty battery can cause rectifier to push out more voltage to try n charge the battery causing it to overwork n burn out. n since my battery has died once and recharged and sort of dying again... got the battery changed. RM150....otw back noticed it didnt go above 14.7.

Attached Image

also finallly changed my 2017 manufactured, 190 size rear tire. changed back to the same Metzeler Roadtec01 which is my favourite tire but in 180 size. RM500 (on promo). also changed the tire valve for an L valve. RM15.

so much better on the 180. bike feels so nimble now.

I go there just for tires coz they usually have the best prices n their balancing has always been spot on for me.

For others like valve clearance, repairs etc i go to 66speedbike in sg buloh

Oil changes i do myself at home

the V1k manual says charging voltage is 14.4-15.0V

you said it shot up to 15.2V, so I'm wondering what R/R your bike has

another question, is where the voltmeter is hooked to?
mine is connected to headlamp, so it's lower than actual

Ya their tyre prices are just nice.

Oh btw did you do any remap or tuning for your Z9 after converting to a straight pipe?
