I still cannot digest people who call themselves Malaysians but cannot speak Bahasa Kebangsaan properly.
Like why are u still here?
*
Speaking and being acknowledged of your right are two different issues.

If you go to court- you lose there - open shut case.

And your hired to process passport papers , not be a judge and supposedly past execution making things hard for her god damn rights.

Not happy ah guys? Ask ur MPs and voters of malaysia to change the law la.

Must speak bm only or else cannot dapat passport.

Got plenty of kids that moved overseas when they were really young and grew up in a household that mainly speaks English.

Met quite a few of them. Heck would even say I'm one of them since ain't fluent in BM.

Always just ask them to speak in BM and ill reply in English
*
Ain't fluent is not the problem.

So did u feel offended?
Did u feel discriminated?

No right?

I was insulted once again in my life by doing passport🄺

šŸ“¢Today I want to share with you how miserable it is for people who cannot speak Malay in Malaysia😭 This is the second time I was insulted in UTC Johor!  Last time it was me who was insulted, this time it was my daughter, both in the same place!

Today I took my daughter to UTC Johor (Polow branch) to renew her passport. We are both Malaysian citizens, but we have been studying in Singapore since childhood (my daughter and I are the same), so we are not very fluent in Malay, but we are educated and polite.  And respect still understands!  First of all, I got there around 8 o'clock. I had to sit outside and wait before I went in to get the number. I waited for about an hour before I could go in and get the number. We arrived around 9 o'clock. I happily went in and queued up to get the number, and then we arrived.  , there was a man serving us at the service desk. Because I really don’t speak Malay very well, I might ask in English when I opened my mouth. The male service staff asked me how old my daughter was?  My daughter answered him: 14 years old (answered in English). He looked at my daughter and said: "How do you say 14 years old in Malay? He told my daughter to speak Malay! This is Malaysia, are you a Malaysian? You are Malaysian  People must speak Malay!" His tone was very fierce, and then he continued to talk about me and my daughter: "Do you know this is Malaysia? You don't know Malay? It is very important to speak Malay when going abroad to Taiwan (I was suddenly very scared😰),  You still can’t speak it? Are you a PR? PR or a Malaysian citizen. You can’t speak Malay with a Malaysian IC. If you can’t speak Malay, you can consider becoming a Singaporean citizen! Not in Malaysia! English is not spoken here!ā€  (I tried to explain: Sorry abang, we studied in Singapore since we were young, so we really don’t understand... Before he finished speaking, he started to curse again: And then? Do you still want to do it? If you don’t want to do it, you can leave immediately.  !😄I was really helpless at the moment, but I held it in😄tears were about to flow out😣) We, mother and daughter, stood there and scolded him stupidly... We didn’t dare to contradict him because we were afraid that getting up so early would be a waste of time.  time, and then I said to him in a low voice: Sorry, we really have to renew our passports. Can you give me your number?  He had a very unhappy face and gave me his number with a very unhappy attitude.  .  We found a seat awkwardly and sat down😟

I'm wondering why you bully people like this?  Do we deserve to be insulted like this because we don’t know Malay?  Will he be caught by the police?  This is the second time I have been to this UTC and I was scolded for not speaking Malay!

After waiting for about 30 minutes, we finally arrived, and what followed was another wonderful momentšŸ˜„

There was a woman at the counter, and she thought she was more polite. As a result, my daughter was taught Malay. She also told her how old she was, her name, her mother’s name, and her father’s name in Malay. Since my daughter was very young, I  She and her father were divorced, so I told the counter girl: Sorry, I am divorced, so my daughter has been with me since she was a child. I don’t know her father’s namešŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøā€¦I’m sorry!  Then came the problemšŸ˜…The woman asked me: Do you have the divorce certificate?  Is the child with you?  So is there proof of child custody?  (Suddenly I was even more annoyed😨) I asked her: "Do I need these when I come to renew my passport? But why didn't I need these when I helped my daughter make a passport for the first time last time? Then when I asked what materials I needed to prepare, why didn't I say yes?  Divorce certificate and custody certificate? In the end, she only answered me: Now the SOP has changed, these documents are needed!😣 I didn’t argue with her, after all, I don’t know Malay😭 I said I was sorry that I didn’t bring it, and she said directly: I didn’t bring it.  ?Can’t do it! (I feel really fucking helpless in my heart) She didn’t let us do it, so we left helplessly)

I really don’t understand why these people are so discriminatory towards us who don’t speak Malay!  I didn’t mean it, I didn’t make things difficult, and I asked politely, but as a result, I was bullied for my kindness!

‼  ļøRemind everyone who does not speak Malay to go to such a place to find someone who can speak Malay to accompany you!  Don't let these people ruin the mood of a beautiful day like ours 7 a.m. 8 a.m.‼  ļøReally disappointed and sad😫😫😫

Ending: In the end, I found a friend for help (someone who knew the department) and finally succeeded in getting the passportāœŒšŸ»I also bought a bag of rice for him to eat and thanked him for his help🄹 So what is the so-called need for a divorce certificate and custody certificate?  They are just making things difficult for us and not letting us do it!  There are so many people in the world who fart!  Wait until God takes you!

Diskriminasi datang dalam banyak bentuk and rupa. Ia serupa "spektrum".

IF YOU FACE DISCRIMINATION, FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS. YOU HAVE MADE THINGS MORE COMPLICATED AND DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS. NOW MORE PEOPLE IN AUTHORITY THINK THEY CAN BULLY THOSE NOT PROFICIENT IN MALAY AS WELL AS DIVORCEES.

Actually yes. Many Chinese Americans have Chinese passport as well but they speak zero Chinese. They’re either born in US or migrated as a child.

China will treat them as Chinese citizens and not American citizen if they’re in China as it doesn’t recognise dual nationalities.

People who don’t speak national language is very common among overseas born citizens or migrated as a child. In the US there’s many European Americans with dual citizenships but they can’t speak their native European language. They all acquired European citizenship through their parents.

In fact, just two days ago I got to know a Korean American who doesn’t speak Korean. She recently got her citizenship by serving as a nurse in US Army after six years. But she cannot speak Korean as she grew up in the US. Her parents don’t have US citizenship or green card  that’s why she never have American citizenship either. But now that she had acquired US citizenship, all her family members get to stay in US indefinitely (I think all of them get GC through her citizenship)

Something i don't understand...why do I see so many Bangladeshis and Nepalise workers being conversant in Malay when a so-called Malaysian isn't? Is BM that difficult to learn or these Malaysians have lower intelligence than those foreign workers?
*
These ppl just malas as fcuk and don’t give a damn. Why they still holding on to MY passport is beyond me. You want to be called malaysian but cant speak BM and use studying in spore as an excuse when BM is taught there and considered one of the national language. My daughters studying in Intl school also have to learn BM or can’t graduate in future. What a jibai singkie excuse..anyway why so bodo go UTC do passport when online kan ada? Website in English summore.

Malay language is indeed very important in Malaysia. Learn how to speak it.
However so, Malaysian standard of government services is poor and rude at large.
Nothing can change and will change as long as it is a race-based intake into SPA.

language is something that if you don't use, as in converse, it'll die or fade away - we know this and yet many here think all of us speak BM in our daily life - we don't la mangkoks!
get a grip of that
if you got no one to talk to except for some rude officer in say,,,,every 5 years or so, we can then more or less deduce exactly the kind of predicament our aunty/daughter is in

and how is that this proficiency of BM is suddenly now a sign of how malaysian you are - walao you ppl all really something wei
but this is apparently the direction the country is heading

BM is important yes, there's no denying to that, especially so if one plans to stay and live here.
BM is easy uh......for those of you that have already known it of cos - goes without sayin
if from small you're not accustomed to the language, expect if to be somewhat French, you may prolly understand, but to converse fully, requires some basic command of the language.

Some of these malay language proponents are so entitled. You want people to respect and speak your language than be an excellent bangsa. The japs, chinese, koreans are proud of their language bcoz of the achievements they have shown and proven. Respect is earned

Dude, you know he is peranakan no? BM could be his second language after English. His BM could be even better than his Mandarin or hokkien. But I doubt PM Lee's children can speak BM.
