Nice,

well sinjiapo back then is part of malaya.

our politician is so good at doing public perception work until so many people kena con, and continue kena con forget about real issue.

continue to rant about mundane things like racial stuff, boikot, who is whos cousin, why ekonomi bad, while the clever and intelligent continue to make money.

Singapore is already something when they can attract all the talents.

It is more like Malaysia becoming irrelevant due to its so-called something.

sohai only try to differentiate between Malaysians and Singaporeans. Even though they are essentially the same Chinese people who migrated from China, sharing a common history and culture. The primary differences lie in their respective governing and social environments.

The unwritten constitutions of the PAP (People's Action Party) is to establish a safe haven for nons in Singapore, hence Malaysians find it relatively easy to obtain citizenship there.

Sohai strawberry gens who do not read and inhibit narrow mindset will try to distinguish these two groups. Current distinctions are artificially created by their respective social environment; lingo such as slangs and word choices to emphasize individualism, allowing each of them to identify as either Singaporeans or Malaysians.

These two countries' Chinese populations are among the most similar groups, separated only by international borders. They share more similarities than even North and South Koreans.

Realistically, does anyone believe that the majority will give up the idea of Ketuanan Melayu and the benefits that come from the racist policies?

Any politician who even dares to bring up the matter for mere discussion will be committing politicial suicide.

Those of you still staying in Malaysia - what are you hoping will change tomorrow, a year from now, 5 years, 10 years?

maybe 3S + DAP + Gerakan could have been better at blocking BN's excesses.

3rd President of Singapore
In office

23 October 1981 – 28 March 1985

Chengara Veetil Devan Nair BBM (5 August 1923 – 6 December 2005), also known as C. V. Devan Nair, better known as Devan Nair, was a Singaporean politician and union leader who served as the third president of Singapore from 1981 until his resignation in 1985.[2]

On 28 March 1985, Nair suddenly resigned in unclear circumstances.

Deputy Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong stated in Parliament that Nair resigned to get treatment for his alcoholism, a charge Nair hotly denied.

According to Nair's counterclaim, he resigned under pressure when their political views came into conflict and Goh threatened him during a game of chess to oust him as president.

Nair also alleged that he was fed drugs to make him appear disoriented and that rumours were spread about his personal life in an attempt to discredit him.

However, Nair's claims were never substantiated. In 1999, an article about the case in the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail resulted in a libel suit by Goh.

Some claimed that the suit was thrown out of court after Nair's counterclaim.

However, in a letter to The New York Times, it is said that Goh agreed to discontinue the suit only when two of Nair's sons issued a statement, reported in The Globe and Mail on 1 July 2004, maintaining that Nair was no longer mentally competent to give evidence in court.

The Globe and Mail statement concluded that "having reviewed the records, and on the basis of the family's knowledge of the circumstances leading to Mr. Nair's resignation as President of Singapore in March 1985, we can declare that there is no basis for this allegation (of Mr. Nair being drugged)."[14]

He served as Minister for Finance between 1959 and 1965, and again between 1967 and 1970, Minister for Interior and Defence between 1965 and 1967, Minister for Defence between 1970 and 1979 and Minister for Education between 1979 and 1985.

As Minister for Interior and Defence, Goh's main objective was to strengthen the country's military and domestic security capabilities after the British had withdrawn its troops from Singapore, which made the newly-independent nation vulnerable.

A key policy was the creation of National Service (NS), a mandatory conscription system for able-bodied young males.

*********************************************************************

Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew had mentioned that he had wanted a conscription consisting both men and women similar to Israel.

Wow!!!!!

However, Goh rejected it, citing that the labour cost at least in its initial years would be too great for the newly-independent nation.

Singapore celebrated Mr Ong Pang Boon’s 90th birthday at the Parliament House on 23 March 2019. About a hundred guests including members of the People's Action Party (PAP), former Members of Parliament (MP), and friends of Mr Ong were present at the happy occasion.

This year marks the 65th year of the PAP since its founding in 1954. It is also the 60th year of the first PAP Government in 1959, and the Singapore Bicentennial since the founding of Singapore in 1819 by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles. This is a very special anniversary year for Singapore, and one that is fitting of Mr Ong’s birthday celebrations.

Here is our tribute to Mr Ong Pang Boon.

Mr Ong has been serving as a Governor of Hong Leong Foundation since his appointment in 1985. He is known to the staff and peers of Hong Leong Group Singapore as a soft-spoken, humble and considerate man with a ready smile and golden words of wisdom.

Under his guidance, Hong Leong Foundation, the charity arm of Hong Leong Group Singapore, has been a long-time supporter of various causes including institutes of learning and educational initiatives, the arts and heritage, as well as the elderly and the needy.

How come you forget this

Most Singaporeans we can trace their roots to MY.

Just recently some of them I asked their Deepavali holiday plans were and they said 'I'm going MY to see my parents/grandparents'. I was pretty surprised as it turns out many came SG when young and hence the absence of Malay language knowledge. Otherwise, it's just a matter of where (country) they were brough up.

Hahaha...

How come the list never mention the founding father himself, Lee Kuan Yew? Oh...very inconvenient fact: Lee Kuan Yew was born in Singapore.

And these ministers were led by Lee Kuan Yew! They took orders from Lee! All were followers under the guidance of the world-famous leader Lee! Lee laid the foundation of newly-independent Singapore. Subsequent Prime Ministers Goh Chok Tong and Lee Hsien Loong implemented various nation-building policies and led the transformation of Singapore to where it is today.

This list is selective at best...only talk about those born in Malaysia....if we just select Sri Lankan-born minsters who served in Singapore cabinet, then Singapore was built by the Sri Lankans!

Some of us who read the list already can feel "proud" about Singapore's success despite the state of Malaysia's current downtrodden economy and politics in shambles?

Just like the 350,000 million Malaysians who cross Causeway daily to work as labourers, security guards, F&B staff, and 1.13 million Malaysians who migrated to Singapore can claim to have "built Singapore".

Maybe can also throw in the hundreds of thousands of Indian construction workers, Filipino call centre workers and domestic helpers, mainland Chinese sales staff and waiters into the grand mix too....all are part of Singapore's phenomenal success! Majullah Singapura!

WTF malaysia and Singapore were meant to be together until some short sighted idiots decided to kick SG together with sizeable number of fine political talents out cuz some of racial differences. The Dumbest mistake ever made by country somemore newly independent.
The unity of both land might potentially create another KR or JPN if not even better since both strategetic location, resource rich and talented people. looking at history, it just piss me off. maybe it wouldnt be call ringgit probably USD To MYD is 1.35. MYD to Yen is 111.52 and MYD to Thai Baht is 26.35 and can travel to 192 countries w/o Visa. THIS LESSON IS TO PAINFUL TO FORGET, CHOOSE THE RIGHT LEADER. CHOOSE DUMB PPLE U GET IDIOCRACY.

That's your opinion to which you're certainly entitled.

Just note that countless other world leaders and countries would disagree with you, and in my opinion (to which I'm certainly similarly entitled), with good reason.

i would not call it fear, more that he was only concerned with Singapore's national interest.

He promised heaven & earth to convince S&S to join Malaysia because it was in Singapore's interest to be part of a bigger country. Then when things became difficult with UMNO and Singapore could survive in its own, they became collateral damage who were no longer useful to Singapore.

What does this tell you? Singapore is not special. Malaysians made Singapore. People should stop putting down Malaysia and Malaysians. Even today, countless "Singaporean" companies (e.g. Grab), politicians, prominent figures, sportspeople, are from Malaysia. Singapore, past and present, is NOTHING without Malaysia and Malaysians.

According to his memoirs, he wasn’t convinced that Singapore could survive on its own - but he’d rather take a stab at it and make his own destiny than to rely on someone else to make it for him and Singapore.
