Read in FB that there is no test drive units available ?

Only available in middle of December ?

Seriously ?! Launch a new car without a test drive unit available ?

wen to see s70 yesterday

size wise quite big

mcm vw vento mcm B-segment plus but ain't c-segment yet

disapointment
1. outside look big, inside mcm cramp. leg room not good for rear passenger mcm alemra/city.
2. what's with geely style of center console being so big and chunky? door card chunky, center console chunky, feel so cramped.
3. walk inside see every car and walk out, typical proton when got sellable car become lansi
4. rear mcm soso.....it flows with the other geely models look but its kinda meh
*
Yeah space wise this so called c segment smaller legroom than City at the back. Boot also smaller, 500 litres Vs City 519 litres

Why segment is important???

Price Price Price...

There was 2 options for this car really:

S50 = persona pricing = 55k max = b segment = proton itu jiwa rakyat.

S70 = preve pricing = 100k plus plus = C segment jadian = cut throat pricing la bang..

So in the end they shown their true colour - they hold the tongkat and whack the shit out the customers. So many bodoh bangang kat luar kena tipu.

If so hebat C segment at B pricing etc etc - open up the market. No more tongkat la sial.

The Proton S70 is likely a Malaysian C-segment car built on a Tongsan B-segment or Geely's BMA (adjustable and extendable) platform, as mentioned by MyProLife above.

i don't know why guys are so triggered with it being called a b segment. it is a tongsan b segment, rebadged and marketed as a c segment and priced at inspira level. i'd expect to get an inspira if i pay the price of one, not a tongsan b segment.

Myvi/Axia really gave unker a lot of assurance…

At least all of us know if our MyVI or Axia:

1) if engine broken, cincai can get one engine
2) if gearbox gone, cincai can get one gearbox
3) spareparts really no worries

Yep. Your Proton tagline is "C segment for the price of B segment", ok lo I want Civic for the price of City. But in actual fact is not comparable to Civic at all but fair enough can beat City. So B segment standard for B segment price lo, be honest a bit la

Eh 27mm is 2627mm/2600mm, 1% only la. I mean, I take what I can get la 1% extra long also can hahahaha

Note that Proton and Perodua have government protection through higher excise duties for Honda, Toyota and other non-national cars.

Also, Honda, Toyota and etc have cut their profit margin, in order to minimize the price difference with competing Proton and Perodua cars in the same car-segment, to about RM10k to RM20k.

In the case of Proton S70, Proton has likely also cut it's profit margin, in order to out-compete Honda Civic in the same C-segment and to market the S70 as "customers buying a C-segment Proton car for the price of a B-segment non-national car like the Honda City and Toyota Vios". .......

ht tps :/ /p a ult a n. o r g/2023/11/22/proton-s70-targets-japanese-b-seg-sedans-honda-city-toyota-vios-nissan-almera-civic-secondary/ - 2023/11/22 - proton-s70-targets-japanese-b-seg-sedans-honda-city-toyota-vios-nissan-almera; civic-secondary
.... So there you have it, a car marketed as a C-segment sedan but priced to compete with B-segment ones. This is the same trick as the one used for the X70 – CR-V rival at HR-V pricing. Of course, the Proton-Geely models are smaller than the CR-V and Civic – they’re more of an in-between product – but salesmen will be able to use the “Civic rival at City price” good value pitch. ...

A bit of Proton history, .......

.... Whoever that has a chance to glance on its photo will know that it is similar to Mitsubishi Lancer GT, another Lancer in Proton growing history. Somehow, it is selling at a much lower price range from RM79,888 to RM95,000. ...

However, for those who cannot afford for a real Mitsubishi Lancer which will cost you about RM120,980, this could be a solution or choice for you. The Inspira is available in 1.8 litre CVT (Continously Variable Transmission) and manual transmission as well as a 2-litre CVT transmission. One point to praise on the Inspira is the interior design, it does look luxurious in the photos. It even has a LCD that the original Mitsubishi Lancer does not have. ...

Proton is confident with this new car. Consumer, are you confident with Proton quality? With this price, one could get a nice Honda City or Toyota Vios. ...

In my opinion, if you support local product, probably can consider Proton Inspira, since Inspira is almost same level with Mitshumithi Lancer, it above Toyota Vios and Honda City already, almost can compete with my Civic 1.8.

They could haved fixed preve and relaunched it. That was a c segment priced at below b segment. With a top price of 70k+, it beats the s70 by miles.

Here's the thing. You used to get a Japanese c segment for the price of b segment, inspira. Now, you get a tongsan b segment for the price of Japanese b segment. Is that a good deal? Might as well as get the reliable Japanese b segment.

These days, only the proton originals are worth it. Saga, persona, iris. Once you can afford to pay more, get a Japanese branded car. They're close enough in terms of price compared with the proton counterparts.

I was referring to Proton's history of marketing the C-segment Proton Inspira in 2010 as "customers buying a C-segment Proton car for the price of a B-segment non-national car", which Proton has recently repeated with the X70 and S70.
