I see, but it happen frequently?. Did you experience frequent sudden drop of the power output during a normal fine day, like sunny day but power generated is lower than expected (based on previous data)?
I understand there is a + - 20% difference from the theoretical power output from solar panel, bad weather and cloudy sky play a role in affecting the solar power generation as well.

It is just that once the solar system is done installed, it will be there for 10-15 years without changing. So I am a bit dilemma in choosing my option at hand, should I be worry about the solar system reliability or company after service support?

Option 1 : String Inverter
Like - listed Company with good track record, unlikely to closeshop. From review post support and services looks fine)
Dislike - Weakness and limitation on the solar system, irregular power output

Option 2 : Micro inverter
Like - Power output more stable than string system, one panel failure doesn't affect overall throughput.
Dislike - Company establishment and track record is quite new. Uncertainty if company still exist in the long run, not sure about post-support and services.

If not mistaken, For hoymiles , there should be no worries.  Now There are custom devices that matches with hoymiles inverters that allow independent monitoring and operating without manufacturer , should the manufacturer goes out of business, which is not likely anyway in current situation.

I do not know which Inverter company will bankrupt next. We all try to pick the winner. The top sales company may bankrupt next because they did not manage their finance well. They offer 10 or 15 year warranty also no use. They bankrupt I'm 5 years after all water fish like us invested.

So better plan to get ROI back asap. After that just see if they thing truly last so long.

Fingers cross... 3-4 years nothing major happen to installer and manufacturer....otherwise... Lose money without knowing what hit us.

@angelgemini, in your situation, instead of purchasing a single energy meter with 2 channels, you’ll need two separate energy meters, each with 1 channel. One meter will monitor the TNB incoming line, while the other will monitor the solar incoming line. Using the Smart Life app, you’ll see two separate devices instead of one device with two channels.

These devices can determine the direction of energy flow in the line (e.g., Forward = Import; Reverse = Export).

Setting up Home Assistant (HA) and integrating the energy meters can be challenging for someone without an IT background. Tasks like assigning a static IP address to the HA and energy meters (if using the Wi-Fi version), installing plugins, and some basic coding may be required.

To ensure consistent operation, it is recommended to assign static IP addresses to all smart devices and Home Assistant (HA) on your home network. Once your bill (import) exceeded 600, any charges therefore are charge 8% SST, then you have 1.6% charges of your overall usage (not including SST).

Even if your solar generation contra all of that off, the SST and 1.6% will still remain..plus the RM3 minium charges.

So in Feb, I have imported 671kwh from TNB. My solar generation contra all of it off with extra solar generated leftover for next month.
I still got the SST charges RM3.10 (71 units above 600) with 1.6% (1.6% of RM270.57 based on 671units) RM4.33 plus RM3...= RM10.43

So if you are heavy users, the more you imported from TNB during the month, even if your solar generated are super high and covers all of it, you will still have to pay the SST and ICPT charges plus with min. charges. Either way the government still get the tax even if TNB does not charge your anything....oh wait, they do, the minimum charges.

so far, i dont hv any bad experience.
as my understanding PG outsource the installation to 3rd party.
my installer was very nice... we even exchange conversation during installation.
everything went well and complete within 4 hours.
they even help clean up my house, sweep and mop... due to dirt from drilling to install the combiner box.

regard to S-mile apps, everything is correct for me, even the panel arrange is neatly.
so far every panel generated the energy equally at ave 70%-80% rate..
