stock sapphire is for people that:
Just want to get a good card and play games at good framerates.

the HIS IceQ version is for people who go:
OMG The card looks so f**king amazing!!!!And it would look awesome if I put like some blue neon lights in my casing!!!And i can overclock the card to like 500Mhz more!!!How f'ing awesome is that! The idle temp is like 40C...thats like INSANE!!!!!!!! tongue.gif

No idea about Sapphire. But HIS has a damn loud fan. Easily OCable, according to my experience.

Thanks for telling me that... I'm more confident in assembling everything up tomorrow. Will be using the 4-pin to 8-pin converter as well for the PSU on the mobo biggrin.gif.

i think 500w is sufficient... unless u wanna crossfire  drool.gif

btw what brand is good for this card? Sapphire and HIS seem abit popular in m'sia... and HIS more expensive...
so what's the different between them? The msi OC version good or not?

any suggestions guys? wink.gif

My DFI LP DK P35-T2RS wouldn't be able to do CF since it's just only single lane PCIe x16 tongue.gif.

My pick would be definitely the HIS HD3870 IceQ3 Turbo 512MB GDDR4 thumbup.gif ~ mine arriving tomorrow rclxm9.gif.

If the R680 is reasonably priced, then get that. At the moment, online stores are selling it for around USD500+. That's around RM2000. Crazy pricing. Hope it won't be such when it finally appears on retail in Malaysia.

I think r680 will hit over 2k in malaysia when it launched..
if logically r670 chipset card only sell rm7xx ~ 8xx,, then it's very high possible r680 will sell at 15xx~18xx.. but new product will bring in a lot of wealth opportunity for seller.. we can only wait for the price drop

Is that true?
From the reviews i've seen it still lose to 8800GT in framerates..
I'm stuck between 8800GT and 3870 IceQ.. blush.gif

Ah? R680 @ HD3870X2 is not fully reviewed yet, and I doubt it'll lose to 8800GT.

Huh? I wasn't the one that says R680 will lose to 8800GT. Read my post again:

Doubt = to be uncertain about; consider questionable or unlikely; hesitate to believe.

Birdrew was the one stating that R680 will lose to 8800GT. Read his/her post:

I dun think R680 will lose 880gt, my personally think it'll beat 8800Ultra 100% for sure.. it might not be able to beat 9800x2 however, the gap wont be big.. Crossfire solution always does better than SLi ( nvidia SLi ) look back to 7950x2, is it very good card? after few years, 9800x2 is still a 2pcb in one card, whereas r680 is dual chip on single card. its power consumption is lower than 9800 and also quieter than 9800x2 ( compared r670 with G92, it must not the exact when it launch, just personal opinions )

this is the 1st card to hit over 1 Teraflop and 9800x2 will be the 2nd card..
3870x2 (r680) supports dx10.1 G92 doesn't support dx10.1, it supports dx10 only..
According to Nvidia they are not going to step into dx10.1, they will straight jump to dx11
G92 costing is already higher than R670, by the time they launch 9800x2 with old technology (still 2 pcb connected together) with higher price,
compare to newer technology like what ati is doing, and dun forget they support crossfire X, maybe x8 is possible in future too, dx 10.1, lower price..
and the price is even lower than 8800Ultra, which one will u choose??
but of course, things are uncertain now until they are launched..let's see;))

when is dx11 appearing in front of us?? few more years?
then in this period of time, games tat supports dx10.1 u can use ATi card to play:))

This card will launch at us date 23rd jan.. driver is ready *catalyst 8.1*

u haven't seem the r680 review yet??
of course, it'll launch on 23rd january.. review is not completed yet atm..

big size and design almost the same ??? bcoz it is dual chip on single PCB, then the size is big of course.. if u look into the cooler design and PCB design, it is totally different from 2900xt.. 3870x2 has got 2 chips on one board, its cooler also different from 2900xt, got 2 heatsinks..smile.gif)

Sorry guys.. i misunderstood R680 to HD3870 not X2..

I'm in a dilemma between 8800GT vs 3870 in terms of performance and price.. read a lot of reviews but still cant come to a conclusion..

IceQ is too tempting.. lol!

birdrew, i think 3870 wont be that bad..
bcoz it is just almost the same as 2900xt,
i'm using 2900xt now, can play all current dx10 and dx9 game very smooth
with crysis, i am using autoexec.cfg to tweak, and get the image quality almost like "very high" in deserve framerate.. i am very satisfy with 2900xt..just it is very hot only..

so i guess 3870 is also not bad..
it supports dx 10.1, and crossfire X

if u dun look for dx 10.1 and SM4.1 support, and want a good framerate,
u should take 8800gt..

or u shouldn't take both, wait until end of the year, R700...
Dual Core on single chipset...I think it'll be a much successful invent compare to r680
