yeah, but i dun believe the whole island is just flocked with winter clothes, since as stated by you, not very cold only, right?! smile.gif HKD1000 for a hair? that is freaking ridiculous man. sweat.gif and thanks, will check out the factory outlet store. my mom loves Clarks shoes, she bought one in HK last year and has never seen a similar pair here in KL.

the Cha Charn Teng is a shop itself, or all those shops like Coral and Kim Gary?! unsure.gif too bad need to travel so far off to get in touch with good street food, sigh. small stalls are everywhere though, i've noticed.

now that you mention it... really seldom see kids around the island. now i know why. laugh.gif

Added on December 14, 2007, 7:19 pmbtw, i heard it's cheaper to use a HK line when i'm traveling. as in, phone line. considering whether to buy a prepaid card to use there.  hmm.gif
*
Maybe there are some "not very winter" clothes sold in the market but I can say the choice is limited. That HKD1000 was already a 50% discounted price... sweat.gif But quite worth I can say.. blush.gif There is a Clark factory outlet in Tung Chung Citygate Outlet Mall, maybe you can pay a visit there~

Cha Charn Teng is the common name for all those types of local typical cafe. Don't talk about Kim Gary, I don't think Kim Gary is up to standard of any cha charn teng here flex.gif After you try Hk's cha charn teng, you will not eat at Kim Gary any more ga la.. wink.gif

Kids are more in recent years already.. economy good then people is willing to have kids.

Well.. Actually HK is not an island. Not like Singapore, HK consists several islands and 1 big peninsula linking to the Mainland China.

You mean pre-paid sim card? yea it's cheap. Under HKD50 you can get one which is good enough to make quite a lot of local calls already.

QUOTE(mad-d0g @ Dec 14 2007, 09:52 PM)
i think buy an idd card...the sim card fits malaysian phones. one funny thing about hk lines is....the caller needs to pay...the receiver needs to pay as well!

northasian....can give me some forums that hv property sections where ppl want to rent apartments or share apartments? i wanna find new place...and dowan give money to property agent...haha
*
HK's phone charge is that cheap of coz need both parties to pay. You see other countries that receiver no need to pay one, all are more expensive than HK!! HKD68 per month with thousands minute to talk and with the call divert function, really can talk until having brain cancer!! laugh.gif

Have you read thru the discuss.com.hk? I saw that forum includes property section too... see if any info you need there.. I don't need to find property yet, so I don't have much info.. sorry about that..

But you're tenent still need to pay money to property agent ga meh????? Not the property owner who want to rent out their property need to pay to agent only?????

IDD card? you mean one in HK or those DiGi Chatz card? unsure.gif
then i will filter out those that are suitable. that's the joy of shopping, isn't it? rclxm9.gif worth spending HKD1000 on hair? girls, we are. laugh.gif

actually i dun like Kim Gary, i have no idea why those locals are willing to line up for their food here. doh.gif will try out as you mentioned then. what i've tried and seen everywhere is Coral.

so i'll be getting a prepaid SIM card to use then. won't be talking a lot but will be smsing my darling a lot. can't stand 5 days without contact. blush.gif and i guess HKD50 will last me 5 days. dunno about the call charges to overseas though, sigh.

it's readily available isn't it? so i don't need to worry about not being able to get one? i got 2 missions: get Octopus and prepaid SIM once i land. smile.gif

Added on December 15, 2007, 10:31 am

ARGH! uber cuteness. i tell you, KL is seriously lacking Christmas atmosphere. sad.gif
*
Nothing much to filter already... filter and filter then finally get nothing ga la... sweat.gif

That's is Cafe de Coral, it's a fast food type of chain restaurants but not cha charn teng. Cha charn teng mostly don't have such established system, and cha charn teng is paid after you finished your meal.

SMS is ok I think... the most they charge you for overseas SMS is HKD2 per message. But I don't know about IDD call la... Yes it's readily available, you can get different brands of pre-paid sim card in 7-11 or Circle K convenient store. There is a 7-11 in Arrival Hall of HKIA, you can get one there. As per one of my M'sian friends who visited HK, he said the brand "People" sim card is the cheapest. You can compare when buying.. For Octopus card, get it in the counter of Arrival Hall as well la... the round counter in the middle..

yea it's so packed n crowded here. but i kinda like the work ethics here...i think the customer service here is way better than msia, more polite n nice  tongue.gif

i still believe get something. take picture of my purchases to let you see okay?! brows.gif

HKD2 sounds dandy fine for a SMS, Maxis told me it'll be 3 way payment if i were to use their service, sweat lah wei. crazy de. need to pass through their network and then pay HK then pay Malaysia again, might as well spend on a prepaid card. prepaid card no special registration required hor? stupid Malaysia asked us to register prepaid numbers last year back IIANM. stupid move. doh.gif

Octopus Card can get back the remainder left in the card, syok lah. i love HK's system. stupid Touch and Go here in Malaysia is sooooo fugged up. sometimes can just eat all your damn credit and you never know where your money goes. doh.gif
no racism there right?! sooooo unlike here. tongue.gif and yeah, living space is one of the reasons why i hold back when i make future plans of moving there to start a life. so small lah, can't take it. shakehead.gif
when you say prepaid, you mean Hong Kong prepaids? will do so, thanks. smile.gif if it's RM0.20 per minute, i will 'call bao gei' already. rclxm9.gif and according to northasian she said someone mentioned 'People' SIM cards are good with nice rates.
*
Ho ar, I also long time no shop around in HK... smile.gif

Maxis is right, when you roaming sending sms or calling local/home country, you've to pay for 2-3 parties which make the rate very expensive... I sent sms to a third country using my own HK roaming mobile in Aust. and UK, each costed me HKD6!!! mad.gif Don't mention the call I received... HKD2x.xx per min.. T^T

HK prepaid sim card no need registration. Just buy and activate, that's it.

Yep, remember to refund the octopus card before you go back... biggrin.gif Somemore you can use octopus card to pay and even top up in Mcdonalds, 7-11, Circle K convenient stores, supermarkets, Cafe de Coral, Fairwood....etc. in addition to public transport. Very convenient card~~ thumbup.gif

No, no racism in HK smile.gif Living space problem can be solved ge.. earn more money lor.. hohoho~~ But small space has its merits too la, no need to walk so much, no need to go up and downstairs very tired, no need to clean so much space, family more close to each other, quite nice though~ tongue.gif

Guys, I'm thinking of buying a roast goose back for my parents.

Could anyone recommend any good roast goose stalls in/near Mongkok area? How much does a roast goose cost per bird?

Another that I would like to ask is, will the immigration kacau if I bring the roast goose across? Also, my flight back to Msia is late evening (arrive LCCT near midnight), so I'm thinking of getting the roast goose at round noon. Will the roast goose spoil??

Thanks in advance for any help.
*
No idea of good roast goose in Mongkok area 'coz I don't like to eat.. tongue.gif Just know the best and famous one is in Central, the Yung Kee roast goose, many celebrities like to dine there. Per roast goose can be over HKD100 each, or even more expensive.. 'coz if I'm not wrong, dine-in half goose already cost HKD7x-8x..

HK custom won't say anything 'coz you're departing. You have to check custom at your side.

My advice is, bringing any roast, fried, baked food back to home country is no good 'coz not fresh already... you can't taste the crispy skin of the roast goose after several hours, which is quite a waste indeed.

Ai.... These days damn warm... Really afraid there will not be winter anymore in the future!

Very warm and sunny during daytime, about 23'c, but early morning and night time is cool, around 17-19'c.

Not raining at all this winter.

ppl said RM30 per box

got so expensive ar??
*
Your friend might have visited HK ages ago... When I was still a student, winter in HK was really cold..

aiya long time not buy wife cake can't remember... there are 2 size of cake, one is called mini wife cake, around HKD2.5-3.5 each, normal size one is around HKD4-5 each gwa.. I bought once 2 years ago already, this year inflation rate quite high so I don't know how much they increase the price now. FYI per box normally 1 dozen, you calculate yourself la.

RM30 per box might be the one from all Kee Wah shops, or Wing Wah shops in HKIA which is more expensive.

hi.. like what you people have said it isn't really cold now i guess i wont be stocking up many pieces of thick clothings.. mayb just a few sweaters..do you think it will be cold if i were to wear a skirt without any leggings or so?
*
Sweaters too thick to wear during daytime, I think you better bring more light long sleeves tops + a jacket is better. Don't wear 1 single thick clothes 'coz you can't take it off when feeling hot, you'd better wear light inside, then bring along jacket which you can put on when feeling cold, more flexible.

It depends on your cold tolarence. Many girls in HK wear skirt without leggings/stockings.

yup i will.. i dont really have many thick clothings and i was about to shop for it but my bf told me not to do so as i might find better and cheaper deals in hk or shenzhen ( i'm going there for a day trip).. i think i can bear the chilly weather there if the temperature is similar to genting's ...well hopefully i could... plus not much shopping can be done as most of the retail outlets are selling winter clothings now..  sad.gif
*
Shop for long sleeves tee or pullover is alright, I guess won't be too expensive gwa? I used to shop winter clothes in M'sia ZARA or MNG when I visited my bf there during HK's winter time.

HK/Shenzhen surely have more choices, but better bring a few pieces just in case you can't find your favourite here on the 1st few days.

Believe me, during day time really not cold at all... 3/4 sleeves or short sleeves + jacket is enough for some strong girls..
