I think FIA is somewhat has to promote consistency in their verdicts when it comes to cases like this.
It has been clear in recent FIA verdict that Drivers Championship points werent deducted in a case where the car specs or the team is at fault. |

*with full of biasness mode*
this is plain bullsh!t move by Mclaren. go ahead and appeal, most likely the points won't be deducted to BMW and Williams. *bias mode off* |

The appeal by McLaren is to clarify things if this happens again in the future.
Although there is no indicator in the car that says theyve breach the temps, there is something to be gain (not in terms of WDC points) in case advantage is gained with that act, deliberate or not. This will be important in the future if any teams are racing with others with this same scenario. |

This will be important in the future if any teams are racing with others with this same scenario. Do you know that this is not the first time fuel irregularity happen in F1? To clarify or to gain advantage for Hamilton? McLaren is a bit cheeky here... They said they are appealing for clarification.. Once FIA said we should remove those drivers, and Hamilton will get the points he need. Then even if Hamilton doesnt want the title, McLaren make it sounds like, "oh we are giving the title to you". Taking the glory from Raikonen after they messed up. Brilliant but cheeky you can say. Someone will come forward and says, Ferrari will do the same too.. LOL I dont support Ferrari either but I too think chance are 99% they will do the same thing. Thats why I dont support teams anymore.. I rather watch my fav drivers battle themselves on the track than to bother about politic in F1. This post has been edited by kapitan: Oct 24 2007, 07:22 PM |

Kimi Raikkonen - - no matter how cool the Ice is, eventually, it melts...
Lewis Hamilton - - a champion proven rookie, waiting to prance at every chance... Alonso - - deserves to be booted from the team, for acting foolishly, to drive for Force India... Felipe Massa - - will always be No.2, like Rubinho, except better... Jenson Button - - smooth as a cucumber, even in a lousy car, a world champion in disguise ... David Coulthard - - WTF? He still has that many points and wins? WTF ? |

Like i said earlier, Even if those 4 drivers found guilty by FIA, IMHO, only the constructors points will be taken away. McLaren knows and forsee what the fan and media will say abt their move. But McLaren is a unique racing team. Not many modern time put everything on the line to have their drivers handles the race on equal grounds.....regardless of what the media says. And see who is the better racer. IMHO, thats how you should race. |

QUOTE(seydee @ Oct 24 2007, 10:26 PM) Well, this is just an extension to the current ban. Nothing new IMO.Teams like Ferrari aint really developing the engine any longer. They are just fine tuning the throttle map for the best acceleration and reliability cos their engine runs well beyond the 19,000 RPM limit set by FIA. Because they were unable to unleash the power, they have instead turn to fine tuning the system. |

QUOTE(seydee @ Oct 24 2007, 10:26 PM) at least it's guaranteed we'll have v8 for 10 years more That's what the FIA wants, to halt everything for 10 years. I'm sure v6 isn't too far away if teams are allowed to developed their engine. I once read about bringing back turbocharger... whatever happened to that plan... |

Actually FIA wants to bring down the cost of F1 as not all the teams can afford the most up-to-date technology. By reducing the reliance on high tech, FIA want battle between drivers instead of cars. Its still far though.

Spyker to be known as Force India
Link ~ http://www.planet-f1.com Sounds like 'Star Wars' and curry Haug defends Dennis amid post-title scorn Prost offers hindsight Link ~ http://en.f1-live.com QUOTE Former McLaren World Champion Alain Prost says he sympathised with Fernando Alonso's plight in 2007 under the hand of boss Ron Dennis. This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Oct 25 2007, 01:51 AMThe Frenchman, who infamously clashed with his then McLaren teammate Ayrton Senna in the late 80s, says he understands why Spaniard Alonso would complain about unfavourable conditions compared with his own teammate Lewis Hamilton in the latter part of this season. He lays the blame at Dennis' doorstep, who Prost says - despite the team's constant protestations of equality - usually wrests his emotional support for one driver over another. "He's always had a tendency to sympathise more for one of the drivers of his team, for whom his protective attitude emerges," Prost told the Italian magazine Autosprint. "It was like that with Senna, with (Mika) Hakkinen, and now with (Lewis) Hamilton." Prost does not condone Alonso's progressively unpleasant behaviour towards the end of this season, but he says Dennis' skewed affection for his drivers is at least the "reason" that it occurred. And he thinks Alonso, who arrived at McLaren as a double World Champion, should have been designated 'number one. "Probably Alonso would have won the championship this year and, in 2008, Hamilton would have appreciated this situation that would have allowed him to mature with no pressure," Prost, 52, added. |
