Nov.19 (GMM) McLaren was excluded from the 2007 championship amid accusations of espionage, but next year the 'brain' of every formula one car will be a system co-developed by the Woking based outfit.

According to Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost, however, the anomaly would not have occurred had F1's governing body known that McLaren would soon become embroiled in the biggest cheating scandal in the sport's recent history.

The FIA announced in July 2006 that Microsoft and McLaren Electronic Systems, which is based at the Mercedes-powered team's UK headquarters, had won the tender to supply standard electronics to the entire field in 2008 until 2010.

Toro Rosso's Tost, however, told the Austrian newspaper Tiroler Tageszeitung: "If the (ECU) contract had been awarded this year, this company would not have (secured the tender)."

Indeed, serious opposition within McLaren's rivals, including horror stories about the functionality of the 2008 ECU itself, did not emerge until after the espionage scandal broke.

We reported earlier this year that some teams were uncomfortable with the idea of forcibly working closely - including exchanging data - with a team that is accused of spying.

"How am I to trust a company that is at the centre of a spying scandal?" Renault's Flavio Briatore had said.

Nov.21 (GMM) Nico Rosberg is still high on McLaren's wish-list to replace Fernando Alonso in 2008 and beyond, reports on Wednesday from Germany claim.

Despite Williams confirming that the 22-year-old will line up alongside Kazuki Nakaima next season, the major German daily Bild-Zeitung says team boss Sir Frank Williams would accept a multi million dollar buyout.

The newspaper said Williams is seeking minimally $22 million from McLaren "for his racing jewel".

Michael Schumacher's manager Willi Weber, however, advises Rosberg and his management to resist the lure of Ron Dennis' Woking based team.

"McLaren could very quickly destroy his career," Weber told the newspaper.

"Hamilton is their number one, even if officially they will not say it."

Nov.20 (GMM) Negotiations between Fernando Alonso and Renault about 2008 have reached a deadlock, reports from Spain and Italy on Tuesday said.

The Spanish sports daily Marca claims that while team boss Flavio Briatore is happy to accept Alonso's demands for a one-year contract, Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn is refusing to budge on the offer of a minimally three-year stay.

It is rumoured that Alonso wants a one year deal because he has already agreed to switch to Ferrari in 2009; a scenario that might understandably be unattractive to Renault chiefs.

The wire service Agenzia Giornalistica Italia (AGI) quotes Ghosn as confirming: "It's three years or nothing."

Wonder where Alonso will be for next season.. - Is he going to compete or not? Ralf as well..

renault guilty but no punishment

anyway... nice to see McLaren have another Fin driver...  but apparently..  McLaren seem to use Ferarri's technology....  create all sort of problems to the sport.. sien oh...  (cool fuel la.. bla bla bla..)....

According to Raikonen.. u guy doing <1:20 in British GP..  I can only do almost 1:30 in British GP....
