No point getting telco router, it is locked to their telco only. Better spend a bit and get your own router, so that you can switch to other providers if they don't fulfill your needs. Moreover, you won't be tied with contract with them and are free to move around.

QUOTE(tmc @ Jan 18 2025, 11:16 AM) Getting Telco router has not been proven to be a bad choice yet, until one makes use of the freedom to move around. Well, I came from YES to U Mobile and I have been with UM for slightly more than a year now. I don’t know if I will stay loyal to them. If their competitors pop up with something better, I know I can leave. Who knows after two years, you are still with Umobile. LOL. Two years later the router will be unlocked? Or forever locked? |

I'm back in hometown for CNY and as usual speed here is around 200Mbps and above 300Mbps during graveyard hours. So far, it is still the same here.

Keep this thread relevant, don't post unrelated stuff here.
ameyhazuan, write everything in a post and not split into multiple posts. Also, use multi-quote, link to it: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=faq&article=10 |

QUOTE(e-fatty @ Mar 26 2025, 10:25 PM) WARNING to all potential user. Hmm. No such issue here. I was using it with Cisco Connect and recently my company changed it to ZScaler also ok. No disconnection or whatsoever. If you need this thing to work remotely just give up. I tried and keep getting intermittent ping of a few SECONDS! |

QUOTE(netken @ Jul 21 2025, 07:14 AM) I see. I guess that’s the only option. Not too convenient for me as I’m not in KV at the moment, I will find time to do it. Planning to change to XOX IX-22 plan as I only need it for my mom when she’s back in hometown and a backup to UniFi 500Mbps at home. |

Tomorrow I will be terminating my U Home 5G. There is no issue with it, and I'm happy with it so far. However, since it is just a backup line, I don't feel like paying RM 72 (with SST), and I will switch to XOX 1X-22 for 100GB, which is enough for my backup purposes. I already tested the speed, and it is the same as U Home 5G; I guess they are using the same tower. I'll be saving RM 50 every month for my case. The good thing is that if I want to use U Home 5G again one day, I can always apply for it, as there is no contract attached.

I wanted to terminate my U Home 5G service last Saturday, luckily, there is a shop near my place that can handle terminations. My billing is always on the last day of the month and I thought it will be pro-rated upon termination. Who knows, it will still charge me the full amount for one month, and I will need to call CS later to request a refund. I reckoned it was too troublesome for me to follow-up etc, I made a full one-month payment in advance and went back yesterday (31.07) to terminate it.
I had no issue with U Home 5G, and in fact, I was happy with the speed. It's overkill for my usage as a spare broadband, but luckily, it can be registered at any time and without a contract, so if I want to get it again one day, it is not an issue. QUOTE(BOTAK_WAI @ Aug 1 2025, 02:14 PM) Eh, I was looking around for options before opting for XOX 1X-22. I didn't see this 5G 14, maybe I didn't see it carefully. This is a good option. Looks like I can retire the XOX 1X-22 once I clear off two months (1 month in advance and free 1 month from the dealer). Just only sometimes my mom goes back to our hometown twice in a month in 2-3 weeks apart, I have to buy twice for her. Thanks for the suggestion. My niece was using Digi prepaid until yesterday and she told me there’s no 5G shown on her phone.
Anyway back to U Home 5G, I purposely terminated it on the last day of my plan (31st July) to avoid any follow-up for refund later on. Who knows I just received my latest statement from U Mobile and it shows it was terminated on 30th July and now I have a credit of 2.35 from U Mobile. |
