QUOTE(ericsow @ Aug 7 2025, 02:53 PM) After ten months, the slow internet come back again since end of July. Had reported to UM and MCMC, the solution is waiting for fifth time router replacement. CR said will be Huawei model, hopefully the logistic won't mess up old model to me. Is it really router issue? Have you tried it at another location?

QUOTE(ericsow @ Aug 7 2025, 04:15 PM) I am not sure but at least last years September after four time replaced router, the internet connect is reasonable. Router location not changed. Most likely they are moving the tower. Or maybe some interruption/interference on signals. You should bring it to somewhere else to test, if the speed is ok meaning the tower near your place is the one having issue.

QUOTE(ericsow @ Aug 8 2025, 11:44 AM) Tried. No help and even worst till speedtest failed to connect even full bar. QUOTE(vkashin @ Aug 8 2025, 11:45 AM) just curious though, what is the 5G speedtest from the same location, using mobile phone? could help to pinpoint problem with modem or 5g coverage/tower too i think Ya, check your mobile data also since they should be connected to the same 5G tower.

QUOTE(ericsow @ Aug 8 2025, 12:23 PM) Test result using PC direct connect LAN cable to router. Switch sim to phone at same location much more better. This is part to troubleshooting and proof capture to UM CS during make report. Just received my fifth replacement router, Huawei H153-381. Will do the test but the router itself has location optimize function, tested as result below. FYI, Huawei H153-381 come with one RJ45 and one RJ11 port. Nice. The Huawei router does look like the older bro Huawei B618. RJ11 is useful for SIM cards with free unlimited calls. Now I'm interested in this router since the Zyxel router I have doesn't come with RJ11.

QUOTE(ericsow @ Aug 8 2025, 02:21 PM) New router so far so good. The respond time is <20ms. Same location as previous ZTE router. OK then it is really the ZTE issue. For sure Huawei CPEs are the best based on my experience from 4G.

QUOTE(Confession @ Aug 14 2025, 09:30 PM) then really way much more cheaper than UHome5G with 2TB but for 9 days only, not more than RM50 per month if keep renewing. Yes but not all prepaid no. can have 5G. So, probably only 4G speed.

QUOTE(xswatch @ Aug 14 2025, 10:49 PM) I've tested it before, can get 5g using 5g router. only drawback every few days need to remember to buy the internet package. since it's prepaid & this internet add-on is not auto renewal one. I think I can only get 4G for my Digi prepaid. Just need to keep reminding to buy but luckily via app which is easy.

QUOTE(Lalalala99 @ Aug 26 2025, 01:17 PM) How's your experience for Umobile vs XOX in terms of 5G speed, ping and stability? I think it is comparable in terms of speed and stability; they are using the same tower for my area. However, I noticed the only difference is UM doesn't cap speed for YouTube during peak hours, while XOX 1X-22 caps speed for YT, and the maximum I can watch is only 1080p. However, after past midnight, I can continue watching above 1080p until evening. I would say this is pretty annoying considering I watch a lot of YT videos at night. However, I'm only using an iPad, so I think I still can live with 1080p at certain hours, considering it is RM 72 (with SST) vs RM 22, the trade-off isn't that bad though I wish it never happened. Oh ya, IG reels during those hours are not so smooth too... So... If you want to replace UM 5G with XOX, I guess better not since it is 1TB vs 100GB. For my case, it is just a spare broadband and only use it once a while, that's fine. This post has been edited by fruitie: Aug 26 2025, 01:30 PM

QUOTE(Tealifos @ Aug 26 2025, 02:46 PM) hi may i know what router you using with u home 5g last time ? is it good? im looking for a router for u home 5g, not using the contract as i want to test it first most important usage is gaming latency on pc/ps5 read few pages in this thread seems like there a lot of router model not sure which support my usage and is u home 5g better than yes 5g? I'm using Zyxel NR5103E (v1), still using it with the 1X-22. I was using YES Flexi 5G before switching to U Home 5G, using the same router I could say my experience with U Mobile was better. Faster download and upload speed, latency is also lower though YES is RM 10 cheaper.

QUOTE(Tealifos @ Aug 28 2025, 05:38 PM) Thanks Is it a good idea to test umobile 5g using phone and use personal hotspot to laptop to test speed and latency or i should still test with router to unlock its full speed and potential If just to test test only, any device is OK but for long term usage, you definitely need a router. This is also for safety.

QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 8 2025, 12:43 PM) I can echo this. I was using YES 5G broadband, and it just kept getting slower and slower.. from 300mbps to < 100mbps.. switched to U Mobile and speed back to 300mbps It's not a location issue ya, I got same Yes 5G plan in Seremban and Klang Valley running TP-Link Qualcomm chips.. so confirm it is YES problem. Yes, I was recommended to try U Home 5G and I was very happy about it.

QUOTE(tomato people @ Sep 18 2025, 10:25 AM) Yes 5g got problems like sudden speed drop at my place in kl U home 5g got router probs (the free router with contract)...so far speed maintains at my kampung house in melaka Yes, that’s what I experienced too when I was using YES for 1 month. It will suddenly drop to 4G and became slower. Switched to U Home 5G and no more such problem.

QUOTE(contestchris @ Oct 8 2025, 11:17 AM) Currently I am on Time Fiber 200mbps paying RM99 per month. However, the speed/stability in the farther rooms are not that great due to walls/distance (but still stable and useable). Even my PC, is using WiFi connected and there is no fiber connection to any device. I see Umobile has 5G broadband at RM68. Seems like I can save quite a bit a month and have the flexibility to place the router in a more central location which should offer better speeds. But is 5G broadband stable enough? At the moment, Time Fiber broadband has never failed me for nearly 5 years, WFH is also smooth. Can I expect the same from 5G Broadband? Note: If I get U Home 5G, I will be using their bundled router. You can never compare fixed broadband with mobile broadband when it comes to stability. Seeing you use TIME, means you are in a high rise most likely. Mobile broadband is not stable for high rise. If landed, then should be OK. I was using it for WFH on landed earlier until I terminated it as it was underutilized because there is UniFi broadband installed.
