Black color one.

Software version: V1.0.0B02
Hardware version: HW1.0

after getting the router, i immediately disable auto update and never bother to check for update manually.

all settings are by default.

5G signal strength: -85dB
5G bar: Full 5 bars

i guess lots of units having hardware issue. my white zte for the first replacement works fine. once awhile got dc and rarely reboot. much better than my first zte.

Finally able to hit 1Gbps @2:48am. If i can hit this speed during the day, it would be nice..

It's true speed not constant. however, i just moved the modem few cm from the original place and focused to have best 5G SNIR possible.

any auto DC so far?
Dc is a common thing. Usually modem will auto connect. Issue with zte modem few of us are facing is auto reboot.

If dc, we just lost connection for mere seconds. But, if modem reboot, it can take up minutes.

Only few lucky ones get a decent modem.

The best part is the upload speed is ten time than download speed.

Here is it.

By the way, Kaon cannot disable WIFI.
You have a poor connection and probably a terrible SNIR. Hence unacceptable speed.

Reporting in, my ZTE MC888s so far has 17 days uptime already.
How to check for DC ya?

anyway, dc is normal. 4g modem does the same. depends on telco's tower. what bothering us was the modem frequent reboot.

QUOTE(Zaryl @ May 26 2024, 01:15 PM)
could you please advise on how to make the old router act as AP?

I have a DLink DVG F245 Unifi router.

so far i connected from ZTE MC888s LAN port 1 to DVG WAN port, unfortunately no internet.
Already turned off WiFi in ZTE.
Set DVG to AP mode (inside got AP, AP+MESH & MESH modes)
Set default DVG router IP address to 192.168.0.2 instead of 1 at the back.

What are the settings for a typical routers to act as AP ya?

I tried disabling DHCP in DVG but still no internet.
then i saw PPPoE settings, my username & password still uses the unifi one.

should i change this?
But I didn't have the full details though.

When i read at umobile FB group, they say everything is done automatic.  rclxub.gif

if you want to connect to dlink wan port, make sure dlink lan ip not the same as zte (192.168.0.1). can change dlink ip to 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0)

Today i made official complaint to MCMC. I have a total of 5 report IDs for the same problem. See how U Mobile respond.

anybody wants to complaint - please email to aduanskmm@mcmc.gov.my. lets bombard MCMC with complaints. then only U Mobile will take swift and quick action.

AFAIK, there are only 2 models given:

ZTE MC888s
Kaon AX1500
The actual model is Kaon FA7801 which no such info available online. This model might be inferior than ZTE MC888S.

let's see how long will ZTE can last before it becomes auto reboot  icon_idea.gif

the longest record before this was 16 hours
shortest was 2 minutes

Try and overload the modem with speedtest and download huge file from multiple devices.

what would u use - if you send back?

already asked them. they cant't cancel my contract without me paying an early termination fee. guess i'm stuck here. kaon has limited function and inferior than zte. i asked them for zte back. have to wait till most 5g modem become cheaper then i get other brand.

got internal fan inside?
btw, my ZTE is  up and running again on 5G.

turns out the router was too hot after it ran for approximately 2 weeks without any fan cooling.

I turned off ZTE and let it cool down for 10-15 minutes then run again, can get back 5G with ~250Mbps DL ~50Mbps UL.
now running a small JisuLife fan use at Speed 3 setting to keep it cool.

will monitor again should it drop back to 4G+ only due to excessive heat.

Last time i opened up my zte. Have a usb fan direct cooling the heat plate. Still the same. Unlikely heat issue. Modem still reboot unexpectedly. May be different issue from yours.

no i meant for the Kaon one. got internal fan inside? Since forumer ericsow says no overheat.  hmm.gif
[Update on my ZTE fallback to 4G issue]

Still going back to 4G+, sometimes 4G. Got fedup already. When I pay RM68 for the 5G, I wanted specifically 5G all the time!  vmad.gif

Then, after meddling with settings, I forced ZTE to connect to 5G NSA only in Router option -> Network Selection, bands locking are by default & connection is Automatic (default).

Now got constant 5G with speed as previous  thumbup.gif .

Will continue to monitor again if router will keep on auto rebooting (which I suspect it WILL)  rolleyes.gif

Kaon no fan inside. Casing not as hot as ZTE.

been trying kaon modem, sux. can't even get 5G. speed 10mbps. after that i reboot the modem. then can't even get in to webui. page blank. reset the modem. now stuck at detecting sim. click start, still back at that page. tried reset few times. give up.

by the way, kaon modem uses customized firmware for U Mobile. not much thing can do. can't off wifi, can't lock band.

1 thing good about this modem that it has bandwidth limiter for each user. also has parental control but that just filtering url.

i still have the faulty zte modem. now use only 4g. no modem reboot if just 4g. at lease i can get max 80mbps, min 30mbps.

ZTE also uses customized firmware for u-mobile
u see at the version code, u can see it

Zte Not exactly like kaon. Zte ui still use original zte compare to kaon that has u mobile theme. Zte can be unlocked for other sim provided you have the unlock code.
