Hi guys ,
Im dilemma of this three solar panel choice .

Alpha - 12.6kwh rm38k ( string inverter )
Solanatec - 13.6kwh rm42k ( string inverter )
Pathgreen - 13kwh rm46k ( micro inverter )

Or got any recommendation other than this three company .

For home use . Monthly bill around 700-900 .
Updated 12 june 23 : Thanks bee88 for guidance , now im going for micro inverters from GeenPath . Ill update this thread for results after the installation and so on .

Updated 8th October 23 :

Installation already completed on september 7th . Now is already 1 month after the solar installation .

30 days solar generated = 1440kwh .

My electric bill from RM650 drop to RM25 only .

During this 30 days of testing , i actually increase my electricity usage . I start to turn on my living room aircon 3-5 hours daily .
Pros of installing solar panel :
1) TNB electricity bill is subsidized and have tiers , it is cheaper for the first 300 kwh , and after 300kwh is about RM0.5 per kwh .

With solar , total kwh of the month will minus total solar generated , then only they will calculate according to the tier and bill you . In other words , the solar generated electricity will cover the most expensive tier for you .
2) With the new ICPT implementation,  if your electricity monthly usage is above 1500kwh , you will be charged about rm150 extra monthly .

But with solar system , it is almost impossible to reach 1500kwh . As during day time when the solar is generating electricity, it will actually supply to your home electricity before sending the surplus back to the grid .

Example :
Monthly usage 1600kwh , solar generated 1500kwh  .

But the meter will show 900kwh , solar generated 800kwh .

Coz the 700kwh is tallies during the day use .
3) You can have the freeeom to utilize air conditioner during hot days . Cause you will know that if it is a hot day , your solar will generate alot of electricity that day . This is a very good balance of temperature in your house , though not very environmentally friendly 😀
Why choose Pathgreen Sdn bhd ( non paid advertisement )

1) They offer micro-inverter at string-inverter price .

2) The price they propose is available for installment for up to 60 months .

3) They offer risk-shared plan after 5 years , which is not many solar company will offer . Quote from them " they are confident that their solar system will still perform well even after 5 years , hence they willing to share risk with buyer , they will charge 10% of your total solar generated every month and will cover every maintenance and repair work if needed "

hi, just a quick question. After installation, how long does it take for TNB to change your meter?

and after TNB change meter, immediately the NEM offset started counting or there is a delay period?

Installed on 22th august
Change meter on 7th september

Once change meter can straight on the solar panel and offset .

According to them , digital meter is out of stock at that time otherwise it will be faster .

This is an extract from a facebook post.

Can Condo unit owner Install Solar Panels on building Rooftop?
A written reply by Condo Dr. Joseph Wong
30062018

I live in a condo in Selangor, I made a request for possible installation of Solar Panel on our roof which has the best sun. Solar supplier & installer now looking at the project and would keep them informed.
The next thing I get is received a lawyer letter informing me Solar Panel on the roof “NO GO” JMB denies my request. Saying the roof is common property, JMB has no power to decide and give me the consent unless to convene an EGM meeting to seek all owner’s approval and I shall also bear all costs (RM 20K) for calling the EGM meeting if I insist.
Can JMB deny my reasonable request? Is there any law (legal recourse) that would support me? Your knowledge will be appreciated. Thank in Advance
Answer: NO, you cannot install Solar panels on the common area (the roof)
YOUR JMB is RIGHT unless the majority of your fellow owners have given approval to your request to install solar panels on the roof.
I am not a lawyer, please regard my advice as friendly. I am not aware of any law that would allow you as a condo unit owner to install solar panels (or anything else for that matter) on the common area.
Have you proposed to the JMB if the Condominium as a whole would also be interested in install solar panels to supply electricity to all common areas? It is possible that the JMB could actually save some money on electricity bills on the monthly basis (after an initial investment) that would benefit all unit owners also.
However, as an individual unit owner, it is highly unlikely that you as an individual unit owner can install your own solar panels on the common area. Landed property, you can do what you please but condo cannot.
Hope you are clear.
If you have any question to ask the consultant, please email your questions to gmsssb@gmail.com. But not posting it on Facebook.
Thank you

I don’t buy the excuse meter no stock. I also got into the same problem. After installation, Tnb said the meter will be available after 6 weeks, but after complain to st and Tnb, they came to change after a week like that.

They just give excuse no meter. But other places got meter and they can just request if they need.

TS,
you basically converted your monthly bill from 100% to TNB, to 5% TNB and 95% to the solar company for the next 5 years. At the end of the day, the total bill still maintains the same until the 60 months payment period finishes, ie 5 years down the road.

If you were to travel much and you don't utilize the power, the bill to the solar company (or credit card) still maintains.

Unless the government hike up the electric tariffs by more than 50%, then perhaps it's worth it.... my 2 pennies worth.

Some updates,

During daytime the solar electricity generated is used to offset our usage. But night time is entirely from TNB supply.
Since I got visitors stayed for 3-4 weeks, my Aug & Sep usage were above 1500kw, TNB will not offset these readings even though I have surplus of 600kw.

I was charged the ICPT penalty. So instead of getting the 2sen subsidy, now I was charged 10sen for the 15++ usage ( actually is 12sen since no 2 sen sub). An extra of RM180 if 1500kw used....
Then only they will deduct the surplus stored 600kw.

So my bills came up to RM600+ since solar generation also low .. last month usage was 1470kw, my bill is RM3xx only. So beware not to cross the magical 1500kw usage from TNB.

Cheers.

Yea. This is a known issue.

But if your import figure is around 1400, then u r lucky because u have just avoided the icpt charges. It makes ur roi faster.

So if most people use aircons to sleep ~8 hrs/night , solar will not help reduce ? blink.gif

Getting quite technical here to calculate watts etc .... when exactly does solar generates and offset , when there is daylight eg from 7am onwards or must have sunlight eg 10am onwards blush.gif

So now I monitored online the usage. Nightly I switch off both my chest freezers since using TNB electric, morning switch on again. Cut down night aircond usage in the living/dining room area.

Hopefully, next month will go down to 1300kw or below.....
