⚡️ Summary of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the progress of the special military operation (for the period from September 9 to September 16, 2023)
▫️ During the period from September 9 to September 16, 2023, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out 11 group strikes with high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, on port infrastructure, production and storage sites of unmanned boats, fuels and lubricants, ammunition, Western weapons and points of deployment of Armed Forces personnel.
▫️ As a result of the strikes, the logistics of Ukrainian military groups operating in the Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, the supply of Western-made weapons were disrupted, and a large arsenal of engineering, ammunition of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was destroyed.
▫️ September 11 The Russian Aerospace Forces attacked the Dolgintsevo airfield near the city of Krivoy Rog, Dnepropetrovsk region.
▫️ According to updated data, two MiG-29 fighters and three Su-25 attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force were destroyed as a result of the strike.

▫️ During the battles, enemy losses amounted to more than 740 Ukrainian military personnel, 20 tanks and armored combat vehicles, as well as 20 vehicles.

▫️ In the South Donetsk direction, Russian units, with coordinated actions, repelled eight enemy attacks in a week, continuing to defeat accumulations of manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

▫️ Five counterattacks by units of the 30th mechanized and 25th airborne brigades of the enemy were repelled. The skillful use of army aviation and artillery caused significant damage to the Ukrainian Armed Forces units.
▫️ Enemy losses amounted to up to 400 military personnel, five armored combat vehicles, 17 vehicles, 17 field artillery guns, as well as the installation of a multiple launch rocket system.
▫️ Seven field ammunition depots of Ukrainian Armed Forces units were also destroyed.
▫️ In the Krasno-Limansky direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine made unsuccessful attempts to restore lost positions in the areas of Torskoye settlements of the Donetsk People's Republic and Serebryansky forestry.
▫️ As a result of the actions of units of the Center group of troops, aviation strikes, artillery fire and heavy flamethrower systems, 13 enemy attacks were successfully repelled. The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to more than 400 military personnel, 18 armored combat vehicles, 12 vehicles and ten guns.
▫️ In the Kherson direction, the main efforts were focused on preventing the landing of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the islands and the left bank of the Dnieper, as well as conducting counter-battery warfare.
▫️ In this direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 360 military personnel, a tank, two armored combat vehicles, 26 vehicles, as well as 12 field artillery guns.
▫️ Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces on September 13 shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter near the village of Krasny Liman, Donetsk People's Republic.
▫ Over the past period, in the Black Sea, naval aviation and ships of the Black Sea Fleet discovered and destroyed 12 unmanned semi-submersible boats, as well as three high-speed boats with landing groups of special operations forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Up to nine out of ten Ukrainian army draftees who joined in the last year have been either killed or wounded in action, a senior conscription officer in the country's Poltava Region said on Friday, according to local media.
Speaking at a meeting of Poltava City Council, Lt. Colonel Vitaly Berezhny, who serves as acting head of the of the local recruitment and social support center, admitted that local authorities are struggling with their conscription campaign, having fulfilled only 13% of their conscription quota, placing them last in the region.
Berezhny was quoted by local media outlet Poltavshina as saying the military urgently needs reinforcements, as “out of 100 people who joined the units last fall, 10-20 remain, the rest are dead, wounded or disabled.”
To remedy the manpower shortage, the officer suggested rolling out draft notification posts in a bid to “establish the presence of conscripts.” He added that the region was also planning to create a large mechanized brigade, and urged local deputies to assist in the effort. Ukraine announced a general mobilization shortly after the start of Russia’s military campaign in February 2022, banning most men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country. In August, former Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov said Kiev had not yet fulfilled its existing mobilization plan, suggesting there was no need for another draft drive.
However, earlier this month, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry issued a decree allowing the conscription of people with such severe conditions as hepatitis, HIV without symptoms, and clinically treated tuberculosis. At the same time, Ukrainian authorities embarked on a massive campaign against corruption in the country’s conscription system, with President Vladimir Zelensky recently firing all regional military conscription officials.
Berezhny’s acknowledgment comes amid Ukraine’s counteroffensive that has been underway for more than three months but has failed to gain significant ground. Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin estimated Ukraine’s losses at more than 71,000 troops. He also suggested that Kiev could enter into negotiations with Moscow only when it comes close to running out of resources to throw at Russian defences, but concluded that Ukraine would need those talks only to restore its battered military potential.

- Ukraine's failing offensive is just the visual manifestation of much greater fundamental odds it and its Western sponsors cannot overcome, particularly in terms of military industrial output;
- Tension on the Korean Peninsula is the result of the United States attempting to create yet another proxy conflict like in Ukraine against Russia, but this time across Asia against China;
- NATO exercises meant to intimidate Russia are more posturing than any actual serious message. Posturing without the military industrial capacity to sustain the type of warfare required to defeat Russia is meaningless.
The events around Andriivka are even more devastating for the Russian army than anticipated.
According to the Ukrainian 3rd Separate Assault Brigade the village was completely surrounded, killing command staff of Russian 72nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigade and trapping some parts of the brigade. During the entire battle, large portions of the army unit were destroyed or captured, effectively destroying the entire Russian 72nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigade.
The destruction of this Russian army unit rips a hole in the Russian defenses south of Bakhmut and further complicates the situation for the Russian army which already has sent large reserves to the Zaporizhzhia Front, exposing other frontlines such as this one.
A few days ago, the head of the Gur Kirill Budanov said that "the professional Russian army ended in the fall of 2022 and now the Russians are fighting mobilized." We can agree with this thesis, especially when such "cadres"are captured:

Defense Priorities' Senior Fellow & Military Expert Daniel L. Davis joined the BBC World Service in a one-hour radio debate on the status of the Ukrainian summer offensive. He was joined by former British Ambassador to Russia Sir Laurie Bristow and Alissa de Carbonnel - deputy program director, Europe and Central Asia for the International Crisis Group.
Davis contends there is no viable military path to a Ukrainian victory and therefore the wisest course of action Kyiv could pursue would be a negotiated settlement on the best terms it can get. Doing so would preserve everything Ukraine current controls and remain a free and independent country. Continuing to fight, however, in the hopes of driving Russia out of all occupied Ukrainian lands could result in a defeat in which Kyiv loses much more land.
Unfortunately, as all three guests contend, there is presently no prospect that any of the parties are willing to seek a negotiated end to the war, and thus the fighting is certain to continue for the foreseeable future, increasing the death and destruction suffered by Ukraine.
Imagery from today via @MT_Anderson indicates that the Russian Ropucha Class Pr.775 LST 'Minsk' is still burning over two days after being hit by a Ukrainian cruise missile.
