I think it's fair to say he general consensus has been the UA advance during this offensive have been slow. But most analysts also agree there is a big unknown factor and that is the attrition ratio of the two forces fighting.

Over the last few months, RuAF have gradually allocated reserves for the defense of the Robotyne axis. A few weeks ago (a month?), they moved 7th Guards Mountain Air Assault Division from Kherson oblast towards Robotyne .

It seems RuAF have decided to keep counter attacking instead of falling back to their prepared defenses, I think this along with the arrival of DPICM is part of the reason for the high attrition of RuAF.

It's also worth pointing out RuAF have committed 2 VDV divisions and one brigade in the Bakhmut area to stop the AFU advances.

Since VDV and Naval Infantry is what RuAF rely on for offensive maneuvers, they are most likely degrading their over all future offensive potential using them defensively.

It remains to be seen how RuAF will utilize the 76th GAAD in the area. This fight is far from done, but I predict we will keep seeing a slow grind well in to the fall/winter.

A lot of people ask why RuAF keep counter attacking. I think this is for "political" reasons. This way the local commanders can tell their bosses Ukraine have not managed to take Robotyne yet.

In reality, territory gained and lost counted as km/km2 is pretty much irrelevant. This is just as true now as it was during the winter when the russians attacked Bakhmut. What really matters is the attrition ratio.

What we most likely are seeing is RU Southern Military District being highly attired to the point where they need reinforcements from the north. That being said, what we still dont know is how much remaining offensive potential Ukrainian forces have.

It was a week of 'weak' offensives for Ukraine against Russian armed forces. According to the Russian defence ministry, Ukrainian forces faced a series of defeats throughout the last 7 days, in which they lost as many as 4,800 troops. Ukraine's offensive is set to enter its third month but has yielded no major results yet.


Russia mocked Ukraine after its president admitted Kyiv might lose the West's support. A Russian leader said that the Kyiv regime’s main fear is a lack of western support. On August 27, Zelensky admitted that allies would not back Kyiv in hostilities on Russian soil. "We will definitely be left alone," said Zelensky while talking about strikes on Russian territory.

It added that the the goal of the strike was achieved. Meanwhile, Ukraine targeted Crimea with cruise missiles and drones. Both attacks were foiled over the Black Sea.

▫️Tonight Russian Navy launched a long-range group maritime high-precision strike at an Armed Forces of Ukraine foreign-made aircraft weaponry ammunition depot.

▫️The goal of the strike has been achieved. The facility has been neutralised.

▫️In Zaporozhye direction, the Russian Group of Forces supported by Army aviation and artillery repelled seven attacks by units of the AFU 82nd Air Assault Brigade and the 46th Airmobile Brigade close to Rabotino and Verbovoye (Zaporozhye region).

▫️Up to 160 Ukrainian troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, two U.S.-made M777 howitzers, one AS-90 Brave Heart self-propelled artillery howitzer, one U.K.-made FH-70 howitzer, as well as two D-30 howitzers have been neutralised.

▫️ In Donetsk direction, units of the Yug Group of Forces in cohesion with aviation and artillery repelled two attacks by AFU assault groups near Klescheevka and Krasnogorovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

▫️Russian air defence forces have intercepted three JDAM guided bombs, as well as one HIMARS MLRS projectile during the day.

Destruction of reconnaissance UAVs near Crimea

The Russian defence ministry released several videos of NATO-made Howitzers and Ukrainian armoured vehicles biting the dust after attacks by Russian artillery and Ka-52 Alligator Helicopters. In another video, FPV drone could be seen striking an Ukrainian dugout. The Russian defence ministry claimed that three JDAM guided bombs were also destroyed in the last 24 hours.


Ukraine is using Western services to strike Russian targets with drones, reports the Economist. The report said that Kyiv's drone program depends on Western-provided intelligence. Russia has extensive air defense and electronic warfare capacity to counter drone attacks. Kyiv's drone operators often need outside aid to break through Russia's Air Defense. The aid includes 'intelligence about radars, electronic warfare, and air-defense assets'.


Russia said Ussuriysk-based paratroopers equipped with small rocket hand-held anti-personnel flamethrowers delivered precise strikes at Armed Forces of Ukraine manpower and hardware attempting to hide in a woodland and an abandoned private house in Bakhmut direction. The Russian defence ministry also released footage of the attack.
