Still. Although I am considering on converting to Global ROM so I can have a decent cover display experience.

Most of the cover display widgets are for Moto CN apps.
I would like to get the official Spotify widget for the cover display.

I would say, if you're on a budget, a flip phone probably isn't the first choice, since your concern is regarding the durability and lifespan of the phone which are valid concerns imo. Still better off sticking with a bar phone for that peace of mind

It's.. not really budget, just not really too keen on splurging a flagship level flip phone at this moment, a grey import too boot.

That said, I am a big longtime fan of Motorola, and have been watching their flip phones since the 2019 announcement.

Was thinking if the regular 40 is good enough for casual use..

There is a way on the net but then not sure if locking back the bootloader will make it to go bootloop 😔
And yes u can still get update with the correct channel of update

A bit tough since the euro and the us people got the official phone and global Rom and they less buy the china one .. so they don't flash it as much as the last 2022 RAZR and report back the results

Search Lenovo Shopee page, the motorola phone is no longer available.

Lenovo quit phone business in our country? I still remembered during past 2-3 years, they aggressively promote Edge & G model.

Yea they made a comeback like sometime ago, and then.. died again I guess. So far this year's models no new releases

I've heard how CN rom even change to English language, still got some Chinese UI etc etc, can you confirm?

And anyone.. can vouch or offer experience erc on seller Monmar..?

I heard Lolinet telegram group can help in converting to Global ROM and locking the bootloader with no issue but they will charge ~USD80-100 (depending on the modder).

That would be the last resort when everything goes bad (bootloop/ bricked phone).

No issue with the translation but Moto exclusive CN Apps (Lenovo App Center, Moto Voice, Moto communicty etc) will still be in Chinese.
Other than that, everything is in English.

I once bought a phone from monmar tech (I think around 2019) but their phones are more expensive than Fast Tech because they need to pay fees to Lazada/Shopee unlike when you buy direct to Fast Tech.

Monmar is a trusted seller so go ahead if you feel like buying from them.

I suppose I will have no use for those Moto CN apps..? As long as standard Google apps/banking/local e wallet apps are usable.

Somehow with the 8.8 bonus I found one Blue unit (8/256) tad cheaper than Fastech lol. Thanks for the feedback.

Still thinking if I should just get a 12/256 regular 40 over Ultra hahahaha. But even then sometimes I'm let down by pics on my 30 Pro, makes me doubt on downgrading the cameras on the regular 40.

Not sure about that.. u can do it yourself actually but it is a bit troublesome since it is not as straight fwd as flashing Rom in pixel. U need to get a unlock code from moto site.

If all go south u will have a very expensive door stopper 😂

Maybe will be able to flash it again but worst need to send back to CN.. but fastech maybe charge a bit only to send back

Yeah. Only when you bricked your phone will you need help from modders. I haven't seen any thread related to converting 40 Ultra CN ROM to Global.

Better go with the Ultra because I'm pretty sure the camera sensor used in the regular 40 is mediocre. Else, I suggest buying the Moto X40 which is better in everything and cheaper.

Yes.. if you manage to sucessfully flash to EU rom. But I have read many have encountered issues unlocking and relocking the bootloader. Many have also experienced boot loop while flashing to global rom. I would not risk it if I were you.
