It's a hinge, of course the design is similar.

Sooo everyone got the Ultra, no one getting the regular 40? I've been debating to get the regular 40 from fastech, don't really need the big 2ndary screen and I suppose.. less powerful battery + bigger batt = better battery life?

But I am hesitating to switch from my Edge 30 Pro; of which I have almost no complaints on. Switching means I would downgrade the soc (although I am a casual user, no gaming etc), battery, charging speed, cameras, and I suppose practicality/durability? Considering I use my phone for work purposes as well. Also have to think of an excuse to give the missus at home as well lol 🤣

But I am a long time Moto user, and mostly wishes to change to Razr 40 due to being nostalgic using the Razr V3 during my uni days..

Opinions are welcome guys! I also have a few other things on my mind too, if current owners don't mind asking!

Regular razr has bigger battery but the soc is not as powerful and efficient, antutu score is almost 500k while the ultra close to 1M. Based on gsmarena data, regular razr actually has similar battery life as the ultra.

IMHO it's the most compact phone that I have ever owned ..and I believe as the lightest too as well

And btw ..u can have more idea about the standard version with the following link

Yea, read about that too. Here I thought a less powerful chip with bigger batt means more screen time lol. And I do have concerns that the SD 7 image processing would be inferior to the SD8 as well, although I have no data to back this up. I suppose with further updates they'll get better batt life (and better camera images?) though it's not certain

Yep just read this, as well as from Gizmochina too. What I gather is its 'adequate for daily use'. Makes me think of splurging for the Ultra, but I can get 12/256 much cheaper for the standard than 8/256 Ultra, too. Was hoping I didnt have the downgrade the ram compared to my current 30 Pro too..

Any of you guys use Android Auto, btw? I've heard how CN roms doesn't work with Android Auto for some certain reasons.. and I wonder why when changed to global rom meaning no more updates, like in Fastech listing?

Aahh darn, thank you for confirming my suspicions, would be a step back if I can't use Android Auto either, hrnnn

Not sure about.. changing the update channel stuff etc lol.

And for the current owners, can you comment on the display crease?

Initially my plan was just leave it unfolded during work etc, and only fold when I have to move around haha

I see. Although still can be felt with fingers, aye? And what do you think about picture quality? While I know photography was never a strong point for foldables, and I reckon all modern smartphones produce generally good pictures, I can't help but wonder and looking forward to opinions from different users!

Frankly, I'm not qualified enough to comment about the picture quality as it is not one of my priorities for the phone....maybe someone else can provide better opinion about it

Crease wise I think if u look at it from some angle can see one... Since it is a foldable 🤣
Camera wise I think it is still ok don't compare to the flagship that has a better camera sensor

Yea, was expecting crease since its a foldable, since I've seen Flips around but no Razr, even the 2022. And for sure the camera won't be flagship level lol, certainly not Pixel/Iphone stuff, but at least I want it to be serviceable..?

My other phone is s23 ultra..so u know what I mean
But frankly, both pictures r acceptable for me ..and again, I hardly take any pictures every day

Surprisingly, my RAZR is my main driver now... because of its portability and amazing looks..and still have 30% juice left at the end of day

So you have the flagship of flagships to compare 😅 but thank you for your feedback. I am surprised you're using the Razr for daily driver now, despite it's.. shortfalls? I mean you do have a S23U, don't you feel something.. lacking?

I've looked over at Singapore forums, and saw some got theirs from HK, and have Google and Play Store etc etc preloaded. More convenient I suppose..?

Noted, and thanks! I do use my phone for work, which involves taking some pictures, but not like.. I need a pro photo quality anyway, and I also do not play any games - I have my PC for that. Although not being able to use Android Auto is... kind of a minus for me, at the moment.

I understand the different part. Else, its just...another phone with slightly better specs year by year. Always thought by now even mid range soc is fast enough, and cameras being decent enough, at least compared to couple years back.

I suggest getting the Razr 2022 instead of the regular 40. Similarly priced with better specs (bigger cover display too).
Also, I'm pretty sure the regular Razr 40 has mediocre cameras.

When converting to Global ROM, I suggest you do it yourself and do a full research in XDA. There are several ways of modding a Motorola. Some can re-lock the bootloader and still get software updates over the air while others will remain bootloader unlocked -- which means, you have to manually flash the software to get future updates.

Indeed, I've looked at the 2022 model, in fact I've followed Razr's revival back when it was announced in.. 2019? But somehow the current 40 model is the one that caught my attention. Plus for something like this, it's always better to wait for several gen, aye?

Plus, bro cruzzmz here said he had some issues with his 2022 and I believe him lol
