The fingerprint capture machine is not as reliable as iris capture.

When you take the collection slip from ICA to the post office to collect identity card, the fingerprint reader cannot read your thumbprint.

Maybe the post office uses a poor-quality fingerprint reader?

she received a few  1 is to add beneficiary, then 1 is the policy from bank, another 1 is the letter to top up. other i also forgot coz i lazy to read her mail lol
not sure on this but my guess is that 5% contribution now is not enough to cover the yearly premium especially the cpf contribution will be split into a few accounts. next year premium they will deduct from CPF i think

or mayb due to sweaty palm. last time when they take my thumbprint for EP card the officer had to take a few time coz my fingerprint is too wet haha.

At the autogates when exiting or entering Changi, the machine no longer checks my fingerprints, only iris or face scan…. So I dunno why the fingerprint capture is even necessary but since it’s the law, and since we are in Singapore, just follow law hahaha

If not mistaken, the 9% is employer + employee. So employer only provide 4%.

Back then EP was only a paper laminated card (green color if I remember correctly), not even a hard card type.
WP was a hard card like current.

In my day, we were given a Q pass. Which from memory, has 2 categories, Q1 and Q2. As my salary was so low, I was given the lesser of the Q pass (I can’t remember which) … essentially like a work permit but for white collar workers. Or, you could look at it as an EP but waaaay cheaper.

The difference was I was actually invited to apply for PR after I finished housemanship and I jumped at the opportunity.

The staff said I can only book the date of collection of the IC from tomorrow onwards.
When I keyed in my IC number, the system said it could not be found.

I’ve just handed in my citizenship application about a month and a bit after I renewed my Malaysian passport earlier in May!

But this is for practical reasons and purposes. The bulk of my wealth and properties are tied to Singapore. I live in a freehold landed property bought with special permission in joint name with my Singaporean (ex Malaysian) wife, and as I will be retiring to Sydney, I need to be a citizen in order to hold on to that landed property, in addition to keeping all my other investment properties in our names. Otherwise, I’ll have to remove my name from our matrimonial home.

I will still be a proud Malaysian in my heart though.

It wasn’t an easy decision, and I don’t mind telling you now that behind the scenes, I’ve written letters to appeal to keep my freehold landed property to SLA and even the Ministry of Law, but the law was very clear, with no room for negotiations as my property was bought after they enacted the ownership law on landed houses.

You can only select a time slot one week in advance for your appointment to collect your IC card.

For example, if today is June 12, you can book an appointment for any date starting from June 19 onwards.

Until now, the website still shows all June dates in white and pink, indicating they are either Non-Working Day Or Dates Not Released/Available For Booking.
But I notice woodlands post office only like that.

Next week's dates are available for collection at either Clementi Post Office or Jurong Point Post Office.

If I select a 3 PM time slot, can I go to the post office at 8 AM to collect my IC?
