QUOTE(Crossbone @ Nov 1 2007, 03:04 PM)
damn...i almost got cut off from my OSes while installing.
For some reason when i tried to boot it after installing it,it says the partitions doesn't exist ? sweat.gif

went into windows and wiped out all partitions and try it again, then the stupid Grub boots from my 1st HDD which windows is installed, due to the deleted linux partition in the second HDD,it refuses to boot!

gotta try it again today

and whats the 512mb swap for? and is there any changes in GRUB that came with 7.10? like they changed the places where they are installed?

Last time,GRUB boots from my 1st HDD,but as mentioned above, all configuration files are stored within the 2nd HDD.
*
I solve the partition doesn't exist by changing the boot sequence in my BIOS. Read it somewhere in the Internet, decided to give it a try and amazingly it worked. biggrin.gif

Just curious and would like to know how many of you Linux users have been infected by virus/worm ? If no, any anti virus program used ?

I dont think currently we need to use anti virus, since virus creator usually wont bother to design any virus target at linux because of small number of user.

Well there aren't many viruses for Linux but from what I read in the Internet, it is picking up. I guess sooner or later we will have to use it.

By the way, how much space do you allocate for Ubuntu ? I give Ubuntu 15GB only, do you guys think it is too little ?

i suppose if u just allocate 15gb for ubuntu alone it is more than enuff ... unless u are storing lots of data in the same partition as well ...

anybody facing the prob i am facing below ??? there is an outline/shadow of a previously opened window on my desktop ... it goes away sometimes but sometimes doesnt ... after reboot it clears up but will come back again randomly ..
refer to the screenshot below ...

I might be a newbie in Linux but you're using 7.10 right ? It seems that the 7.10 has that problem if I'm not wrong. Even for my 7.04, I have that problem if I turn on desktop effects.

Well, I'd say Ubuntu is user friendliest distro I've ever used.

And it's strong community deserves a mention. They are pretty helpful.
