just buy toyota full synthetic for vios, the service center know which oil is ngam for your vios model, then get the original oil filter too. Changing those both plus with good condition air filter, can last 10000km or 6 months.

QUOTE(bengm2019 @ Jan 15 2023, 12:07 PM) The problem with thicker oil is fuel consumption and power loss. if TS travels alot, 5% increase in FC can be quite a lot. yes..this is true...i was using 10w40 Semi syn before changing to 5w30 Full syn because i simply cant find any engine oil on the shelf during cny last year.suffer power loss and high fuel consumption. 5w30 la. Recommended Viscosity.
U put 0w20 too thin. Can't even lubricant ur engine. Just like no oil in engine. U put 5/10/15w 40 too thick. Your engine oil pump can rosak. Ur engine oil pump designed to pump 5w30. Tapi u pour 5w40 too thick. Cannot tahan. If ur oil pump got sumbat worst. Anything engine jam. |

Vios is known to have engine oil consumption issue when the engine gets old..So 5w40 is recommended for your Vios.

Why everyone here against the 0w20? It's still fully synthetic engine, protect the engine again heat, lubricate etc

Increase in fuel consumption when using 'thicker' oil means oil is too cold. Maybe your thermostat rosak or you don't really drive for a long stretch of time everytime you start your car

It's still fully synthetic engine, protect the engine again heat, lubricate etc 0W20 is too light if your oil system is engine speed dependent. Light oil runs down to the sump quicker, so not "sticking" to the moving parts longer. When you rev high, more oil volume can circulate to counter this. But when you are just cruising along a low rpm, your parts tend to run dry.If you are using dry sump, then it eliminates that problem. Because your oil flow are set at a minimum volume. |
