Lol
Are you lining up to buy American motors then?
Japanese while not perfect are more reliable.
And either ts can persist by feeding his engine more oil or get it rebuilt.

Depends on how a person view it, reliability is a term used by people who can't afford to maintain their car.

if u used 5w40 still consuming EO

u need to go even higher ..or ..overhaul

lower down to 5w30 will made your consumption even faster/higher

depend lol, few of the bengkel mechanic that i talk said that repair might do more harm than good, the machanic also said that if the engine is still running well(not overheatingl, but the problem is minor leak, better to just live with the leak, but need to frequent check the oil level of course

also repair doesnt mean 100% will fix the leak problem too. people keep mention must follow manufacturer recommendation for engine oil, this only feasible if the engine dont have any issue. but once got issue, is different case already. anyway the main cause of preventable engine failure is either the owner fails to do service on time or engine oil level is too low, not because of mismatch in engine oil viscocity. yes engine dont work optimally with high viscocity oil, but at least some protection is better than no protection.

Easy to say when you’re not paying American labour rates to fix your car. Lol

my idea, TS should repair the source of leak first, usually the Valve cover gasket, norm after high mileage. if the manual said 0w20 is one of recommendation, I will suggest it. Best FC, engine can get light feeling power etc.
*
Ts engine that time no w20 spec. Most probably w30, the lightest at that time.

40 if a lot of high RPM driving. 30 for regular use.

20 is thin like piss. And MY weather makes it worse. RIP engine longevity.
*
Not really no. Some racing applications use oil like 0-20 too.

Is this true ?

Every engine is the same when it ages. Piston ring gets worn out, valve seals cracks, injector o-rings harden, valve cover gasket cracks and leaks. These are all cheap fix rather than swapping a halfcut engine.

Overhaul costs the same as getting halfcut, but you're assured of the fix you're getting. While halfcut is still another gamble. You wouldn't know if you're getting a good engine unless the workshop is reliable.

I gotten my halfcut engine that's literally <50k mileage. Produces more hrsprs than factory claimed.
