It is not about hardcore fans.
Mostly it is about what come with S23 that better than S22. Firstly it SD 8 Gen 2 from TSMC is much much better than S22 SD 8 Gen 1 in that come from samsung. If SD 8+ Gen 1 like both Flip4 and Fold4 then ok lar just a bit upgrade. My Flip4 which have way smaller battery can tahan nearly the same with S22 Ultra.

Not counting it come with bigger and hopefully better camera performance. Then i heard it will come with less curve screen which if true mean much easier and cheaper to put tempered glass.

Not sure about others.
For me, top range flagship should not last just a year.
If I have so much problem with the top range flagship means I should switch brand.
I think S22 series especially S22U is still rank top 3 2022 Phone of the Year for many Tech reviewer.

I cant speak for people that enjoy changing phone every year

too bad they gave small version a 3900mah battery, they could make it thicker to give a eg4300mah or more, s23 size was the perfect size for me

S23 size will be just nice to hold.
I guess S23+ battery will perform best among all 3.
