From: nowhere

Gsm arena review out, the guy not quite satisfied on conservative thermal policy (will throttle to around 70% after a while in stress test)

Maybe something to do with previous complaints about burnt motherboard on various 2020/2021 xiaomi group models

For me feel the same. Poco F3 already fast enough for me to do everything. Main difference maybe is the 3.5mm jack, battery last longer.

Actually what's the big deal with no GPS L5? My old Samsung M52 also don't have but works just fine and snappy from KL- Terengganu / KL-Penang je. If anything when I ran the gpstest yesterday on both phones, the F5 was a lot faster than my 778G M52 in getting the GPS result.
*
Normally, we use gps when there are cell and internet signal, then L1 L2 L5 no matter
If using gps in places where no cell signal then L5 would provide faster gps lock. Example like when traveling and some place has no cell signal, and using merely gos with predownload Google maps to navigate
A in real life example, try drive in the mountain in NZ...at night.

Alright, so a small initial thoughts comparison of the Poco F3 and F5.

Screen wise, the Poco F5 has smaller side bezels than F3, but the hole punch selfie camera is a bit bigger.

Weight difference unable to feel in hand, but in my saggy pants, apparently got difference, it doesn't sag as much.

Blue matte colour on F5 feels a bit less premium than the white matte on Poco F3.

Transferring data was weird, I needed to update a the apps in the Play Store and update Poco F3, before the transfer went smoothly.

67W charging is blessed, compared to 33W on Poco F3.

Matte Blue F5 feels cheaper than Matte White F3, but the plastic I can say feels on par with flagship plastic found on Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and S21.

Weight difference unnoticed in hand, but noticeable in pocket.

Okay, one BIG personal nitpick of mine of the Poco F5, WHY DID THEY REMOVE Super Wallpapers for F5???

It's not like the phone doesn't support it, Xiaomi just softlocked it from us

Sure blue looks reflective with matte sandstone-like back~ The sides are flat but with minor curvature to help with better grip

ahh yeah.. the colours on F5 kind of turn-off then for those who like minimalistic classy look.

the blue has like glitter-ish effect instead of solid matte blue.. solid matte blue would have been very very nice..

and the black also got stripe-like effect on it..

and well the white, we all know looks like snowflake effect..

Yeah, you're right, all 3 colours have a reflective back, with Blue being fingerprint matte reflective. Here is another more non-reflective angle look at the device. Case is applied.

How's the camera in comparison to F3? Gsmarena mentioned it was better than the F4, perhaps due to its ISP.

Camera wise, the Poco F5 is faster and a bit better than F3, not by a lot. Xiaomi gives a few Poco F5 exclusive filters lah, like filters that mimic retro film Cameras, which makes the photo shooting experience more fun.

As for the speakers, The dual speakers on Poco F5 is lower quality and less balanced than on F3. Noticeable to my ears.

Don't get me wrong, Poco F5 is a great phone. But after 2 days of use, it feels like the phone has some software features locked away compared to the current Poco F3 I have now.

1. Super Wallpapers (I miss the Super Earth Live Wallpaper 🥲)
2. Adaptive colours
3. Movie effects
4. Long press back button to open split screen/trigger split screen

These are nitpicks, but still WHY Xiaomi felt the need to remove features, when clearly it is available on existing older phones and current higher end Xiaomi smartphones only.

And yes, that unbalanced speaker on Poco F5 is getting more disturbing for me.

I'm not sure whether it is the Poco F5 showing its flaw or the OCD in me showing my flaws after this purchase. Lmao

Anyways, performance of Poco F5 is speedy, but the early MIUI 14 bugs are showing a bit like Chrome crashing out of nowhere, and the keyboard hanging up. First batch buyers' sacrifice, just like my early use of Poco F3.

I also don't understand why Poco gets different treatment. I suppose they want to encourage custom rom lol. Someone was complaining on GSMarena that there is no per app refresh rate setting when then interview mentioned it have. Have you tried the headphone jack, is it meh or actually fine? and does it heat up a lot with the default fast charging?

Hope they will update Poco more quickly too since it always lag behind Xiaomi line.

I also ter-pulled trigger yesterday, can't resist the price and headphone jack, but the tracking system doesn't show any update yet so not sure if really have to wait for 20 days.

Yes Global MIUI is lacking alot of features, that is why I cant wait to unlock bootloader and install Xiaomi eu.
