Was busy with CNY stuff for the past few days.

Basically didn't have much time to transfer all the data and setup the phone.

One of the reason I choose this model is because nowadays I'm lazy to change phone every year, so the spec should at least hold me back to another phone for the next 2-3 years.

There are plenty of review online, if you can understand mandarin, bili bili have plenty videos of it.

Other reason is because the Ultrasonic 3D Fingerprint Unlock is really AWESOME. From registering the fingerprint with just 1 single tap, till unlocking the phone with just a soft touch at the fingerprint sensor, everything works so flawlessly.

Charging speed from less than 5% till 100%, took about slightly more than 30++mins. A huge improvement from my previous 25W charging speed.

And the unique of OriginOS compare to FuntouchOS, with plenty of customization out of the box, I think I won't need any 3rd party launcher anymore.

Initially I was eyeing from Iqoo 10 Pro > Iqoo 11 Pro, but after watching some review from online videos, I decided to ditch the Iqoo Pro series even they have the 200W charging speed + Ultrasonic 3D Fingerprint too. Cause I don't play games with phones, so I choose camera over the 200W charging.

With the price I paid for, I believe I can only get the X90 Pro with 12+256 from official MY set. But of course there is some downside, which is the warranty claim since is not cover under local service centre.

And SD 8 Gen 2 really so much better. At least compare with my previous Exynos SoC

So far from what I observed from the seller I bought from, mainly handphones that send back for warranty claims are gaming phones and Xiaomi...

Gaming phones and xiaomi 11 a lot burn motherboard cases, maybe because gaming phones very aggressive performance tuning, this may cause overheating if not well managed with extra cooler. Xiaomi 11 is cause of design defeat that well known

Can you easily sideload google store? As long as not like huawei then okay I still can accept

Ps: china phone if sideload google below may no work, depending on models

According to the review, pixel is more natural. That is true.

But Vivo has many modes to choose from, if you want natural, make sure you pick the natural colour mode instead of the default.

i"m not a tech pro person, but still able to install the google playstore quite easily. There are few methods available online which can be easily found through YT.

As for the google map timeline, android auto, google wallet, luckily all these app are not compulsory to me. Plus I'm aware of it way before I decided to proceed with the purchase. (I'm the kind of person who always survey 1st )

I almost pull the trigger for Xiaomi phones, but luckily get to know their issues before I did it. Since then this brand never come across my mind anymore no matter how good the specs are.

Anyway, I think Malaysia Vivo X90 series going to launch soon after CNY, judging from their marketing widely seen online already. Lets see whether any price increment and what kind of early bird offers Vivo MY will provide...

Things might have changed quite a bit.

From I have read, the previous convenient ways to install play store, by installing Gmail from Vivo store first, might not be working anymore.

Now the Vivo store provides a "ourplay", but that is an emulator for playstore, your usual android app is run over the emulator, they are not actually installed. When you delete "ourplay", your apps installed from playstore is automatically deleted.

Let me know how to install the actual playstore without "ourplay".

Solve the play store issue by :-

1. Install Gmail from vivo play store and run it to allow it to install other related Google services.

2. Install Google keyboard from vivo store and change the keyboard to Google keyboard.

3. Install chrome browser from vivo store. Change permission to allow chrome to install from unknown sources.

4. Use chrome browser to visit apkpure website, look for Google play store APK. Install play store APK.

5. Install Google contacts from playstore.

Maybe missing a few other steps as I got it working after several trial.

I'm just download Google play store APK from APK mirror web site, install and lunch it, work without any extra step
For Google wallet, need to download latest Google play service and install it, then we will able to add credit/debit card

I must have downloaded the wrong file from apkmiror. The downloaded file has extension .apkm, vivo unable to open it and install it. Apkmiror created its own file format and that is so confusing.

apkm is just apkmirror own way to package (zip) the Android app bundle packages

The app bundle package is split packages of different languages, soc architecture, screen density and any other extras to help save download bandwidth when downloading from play store


If sideloading, just make sure download the full APK version rather than bundle version so you can install directly

Apkm requires separate app like apkmirror own app or SAI split app installer

First time using vivo, how to create a large size folder like this ?

Fixed this issue. The folder icon can be resized by long press on it, the icon will show a resize indicator at the bottom right corner. Press on it a few times to cycle the size from 1x1 to 1x2, 2x1 and 2x2, that is if the neighbors has empty space.

Seems new phones have removed the led notification lights. New missed calls or WhatsApp messages come in unnoticed.

Notifybuddy will be a battery drain, but yet it is not working properly.

Maybe configuration problem.

Was busy celebrating CNY for the pass few days.

So far I discover some issues. Some can be fixed, some need to tolerate.

1. FB messenger notification issue.

I always like dark mode for system theme. So no matter how I set the notification for FB messenger, it won't show in the status bar nor sound during incoming msg.

Until I uninstalled and reinstall for few times, plus ask some net friends to screen record his X90Pro+ setting and let me compare. And the culprit was DARK MODE.

You need to put system theme into normal mode, and individually set FB messenger to dark mode(if you prefer it), and voila, notification works fine. It will show in status bar, sounds.

But bear in mind, the sound will only ring for the 1st 2 times of continuous incoming msg, then it will only show msg without any sound. Looks like a bug to me, but already far more better than nothing.

2. Whatsapp & WA Business

Notifications works for both under Personal msg. But when comes to Group msg, issue arise again.

But this round, I can't find any solution and have to tolerate with it.

Group msg will only sound during the 1st incoming msg, from 2nd msg onwards it will not sound at all, but will still shows notification icon at the status bar.

But if you dismiss the notification icon from the status bar, or read the msg inside group chat, the following incoming group msg will work like normal again. Again it seems like a bug to me.

Too bad Vivo App Clone are limited to very few apps only, otherwise I won't need to resort to WA Business in order to have 2 whatsapp in 1 phone.

for App Clone , i'm using insular (FOSS of island), you can clone any application you want. so now i have 2 whatsapp & telegram in 1 phone
for whatsapp, i can recieve notification for personal and group with dark mode on.

So after cloning whatsapp with the above app, both the main and clone whatsapp works flawlessly for the personal and group message notification? Dark mode as in the whatsapp app alone, or the phone system app?

Currently my primary number is using WA Business, whereby I notice the incoming message notification will work normally IF I clear the notification from the STATUS BAR. But after a while, normally after the screen was turn off, it seems like it will become no sound again.

For group message, it is similar as above. Except it will only sound for the 1st 2 times of incoming group message. After that it will become no sound and only shows WA Business icon at the STATUS BAR.

For my 2nd number, I'm using normal whatsapp app. It seems like this app is less issue compare with WA Business. For personal incoming message, it works almost fine. But for group message, the issue is more or less similar to WA Business.

FYI, I removed the pem and ENABLE all the permission for both WA Business and Whatsapp. And both these app, I set their battery consumption to High Background Usage.

For WA Business, I disable the popup for incoming message for personal & group. Cause even if I enable it, it won't popup anyway.

For normal whatsapp, the popup works fine but I still disable it for the sake of standardization


Others app like telegram, wechat, fb messenger all works fine. So I'm not sure is just a bug for WA Business & Whatsapp, or I screw up somewhere for these 2 apps setting...

Vivo app clone works for WhatsApp from what I read. It did not work for you ? I did not try it myself.

Is China set X90 pro + support VOLTE & 5G in Malaysia?
I'm using Maxis btw...

Other models I'm not sure, for X90Pro+ I didn't see whatsapp inside the clone list. And mostly supported apps for cloning are chinese apps.


VOLTE & 5G yes can support. Also need to depend on your service provider whether they have 5G launched or not.

As for Maxis, I think need to wait till Q2 2023 and cross finger no further delay...

There is a super clone in the play store. Did you try it ?

Just wondering if you did apply tempered glass? On my X80pro, after applying TG, the finger print sensor doesn't detect. The installer said, most likely its due to the U3D fingerprint scanner. Hmm, thinking if I should remove the TG.
