just din cut it for me, all that singing, i bet the movie will be 10x better minus the singing, very generic and repetitive, made me feel as if i'm watchin a hindi flick

I agree. They repeat each song like 3x throughout.

And the storyline is quite...pointless. The whole meat pie thing is sick.

Another instance of some Malaysians need to learn cinema etiquette.
now i don't know what some of them expected when they bought tickets to watch this (maybe Rambo was full kot)... but sighing and making noise while others are trying to enjoy the show shows that some Malaysians lack class and proper behavior (seat kicking and noisy handphones). Now i'll admit that the constant singing might not be everyone's cup of tea... and you are entitled to your rants, but do it after the show lah...
ruined it for me...

EXACTLY!!!!!

my friend did the same thing, commenting on how stupid the movie is on my right ear, moving his butt left and right and it was god damn distracting.

what do people expect from this movie? it's a musical for pete's sake.

the movie was cool, tho there are some flaws. IMO the ending was kinda fast, like suddenly everything comes into place. and well the characters are pretty one dimensional. then again i dont think its possible to make a movie with believable people with singing.

on the goood side, the lyrics are witty as hell. and well there are a number of great scenes.

8/10

I thought the original broadway play.. the boy Tobias was supposed to have gone cuckoo-mad and that's why he killed Todd. Gotta love the song "A Little Priest" where they were singing all the various type of 'meat pies' she would sell.. like poet, priest, vicar, squire, lawyer.. lol.. i think the broadway one had more 'occupation'.. quite shortened.

Agreed with the above poster the lyric and singing was really good.

Oh the scene of Tobias spitting out something at the end while he was chewing the pie.. PRICELESS.. lol. I'll never feel the same way again eating paos...

Depp's acting was great as usual, he completely blended into that role of Todd perfectly it's scary. Alan Rickman on the other hand, talks like Snape... gawd I can't get that out of my mind.. lol

Watched it yesterday. Loved it to bits.

Once i heard its a Burton/Depp collabo, there's no need to know other things. The team up of Burton/Depp added with Bonham-Carter, i wouldnt miss this for anything!

But i really got a shock at the first throat slit, i didnt know it was going to be gory. I frozed in my seat with my mouth wide open, ohmy.gif

Johnny Depp could really sing. There's also a reason for songs to be repeated throughout the show, the songs are tied to the feeling that it represents. Like the London song, when he thinks about how he hates London, and the shaving song, when he plans to kill someone. I especially likes it when the songs are melded into a medley to express a mixture of feelings, like when Todd sings the shaving/killing song mixed together with the girls song sung by the judge.

Depp just works as Todd. Just imagine he's your barber and he shaving you with a sharp gleaming razor, just watching like a predator. Your life is , literally, in his hands.

Watch it with an open mind, and you will see that this is a movie unlike no other.

I must say... god damn bloody movie. (and thats a compliment). Wonder how many bottles of ketchup they wasted.

the movie reminds me of harry potter thanks to the the-one-with-the-distinct-VOICE that acts in both movies.

i think the movie was done well and if u didn't expect a musical then you must be a NOOB. cause most of Tim burtons movies are musicals except a select few (sleepy hollow).

the movie was done well untill the Malaysian Nothing-To-do_judgier-von-holier-than-thou. cutted the best parts of the movie.
the americans in the cinema cursed and went to the counter asking for their money back

Wah lau.. i nv expect this kind of show. Freaking bloody raw. I like it!!

The downside is there is a bunch of retarded ingat sendiri macho sangat was laughing very loud whenever there is a singing. They thought it was so sissy and making fun and teasing the movie. But when the first killing of Pirelli was done, they become a little quite. Until the part where they show the kitchen and full of human body etc, the retarded group completely glued to the chair and was extremely quite like a little boy thumbup.gif
