Duh, I said you don't need a degree in order to work. But if you want to progress further etc. then you may need one. Career progression is different from starting a job.
Do you really need a degree in order to work? No.

QUOTE(Chanwsan @ Dec 5 2022, 09:02 AM) Yes, the answer is no.... I don't even have a degree when I started working in Australia.... I remember my starting pay was just $1300 as a busboy. After that go study part-time, gotten my Culinary Arts degree only at 36yo..... Then after that go study masters in food science with business management. Completed it at 42yo... Now, 44yo. Next year, going for study phd.... its jsut for personal goal. No doubt I am slower than many pple and even many many australians/malaysians, by my salary is still pretty decent for my age, after including bonus, I get around $88,800 a month. Now executive sous-chef in my firm I saw a thread about parents sending kids oversea to study blah blah...Do you really need it? NOPE..... IF you intend to let your kids work in Oz, then degree is not necessary. Can start working first. Then study part-time later. The best thing is that you can even get company to sponsor your studies (I didn't). So, don't need to worry at all...... This post has been edited by JimbeamofNRT: Dec 5 2022, 12:02 PM |

The best thing is that you can even get company to sponsor your studies (I didn't). My colleague (Malaysian Work-permit), is doing his diploma at SIM now. ITs fully sponsor by my company. Just that he will be bonded for 6-months (meaning cannot quit within 6-months after completing studies). So, if you are good, there are many companies who are willing to sponsor your studies and groom you. Even help you apply for PR (if you wish to stay in SG for long term). So, don't need to worry at all...... u think u can get current position ah????????????? |

Obviously the answer is no, because there are all sorts of jobs/work. the real question is which will provide a better chance in getting a decent job. The answer is YES.... and you yourself is proof of it. You went to get a few degrees somemore, although at a much older age. |

For long term, yes. You cant keep doing the mess, you can be the one who arrange them too. Not all company will give no degree people for top management position.

what load of rubbish lol
i can also say no need degree also can go singapore become full time house cleaner/ butler there la. then save money study in hospitality and language courses there. then after some decades my life ok comfy. sometimes you lucky the owner so kind, he or she will sponsor your university fees under condition that you will need bonded with his or her family for few years. not to discredit you, your story is really a non story lol. can be copy pasta the whole thing but replace the starting job with other low tier blue collar job. Career progression is different from starting a job. But for many, the desired starting job will require a degree. I know quite a few people in manufacturing who didn’t have a degree. Perhaps a diploma from a polytechnic. And then they work towards a part time degree. Definitely not fun. I’d say doing a part time master is less stressful than a part time degree. |
