I'm using the LTE version from EU. I never put sim card, just teether from wifi from my Motorola. Now in Germany

I sometimes bring only my Motorola out with my watch leave my P7P home.

I use it for:
Tracking my sleep
Tracking my steps
Google maps (works only for walking, not via public transport yet), driving and cycling can
Use it to pay with Google wallet
Read and reply Whatsapp (but cannot send new one wtf I tell u)
Overall, if it wasn't free I wouldn't buy it, might as well get pixel buds pro imo

the thing with Google is that they always, almost, seem to get it right on the first try when launching a new hardware, but never great from the get go. It's only after several generations, then you'll start to see major improvements. Same goes for the watch as well.

More to it is a nice thing to have, but not really required for me.
Nice to use it for direction, see time and msg when meeting, camera button for the phone. Lack a few things update can do e.g. sync alarm, sync sleep mode, Whatsapp app, commuting data.

Supposed to exercise more with it but hehe, orang malas mencari alasan, orang rajin mencari jalan.

Battery life ok, usually I charge in the morning when I bathe and at night before I sleep. Goes down from 10% to 70ish% at night.

About 10-15min enough.

But my opinion stands, wouldn't get it if it wasn't free. Now the market here filled with people trying to sell the watch (used or sealed) in

Hi all, finally made the decision to jump into the Pixel world. Made an order for P7 (JP unit) last night, according to the seller I’ll prolly get it after a week. Has anyone here tried converting it to the global version in order to get the option to turn off the shutter sound?
*
I've finally got my Pixel 7 (JP) and also managed to convert it to the global version by following the steps given by a guy in XDA. I've also flashed the global ROM into it and relocked it, so now my camera shutter can be turned off in the option. icon_idea.gif

Basically what is the major difference between the JP ROM and global ya? Never used a Pixel with JP ROM before so don't know much about it, hence the question.

I think there are no major differences. The reason why I flashed the global ROM is to fully convert the phone into a global phone instead of the JP model. At least the global version is meant for our neighbouring regions, which I believe should work better with our carriers. In addition to that, the global version has already been upgraded to the November patch whereas the JP version is still on October.

I’m using the following guide:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/converti...ersion.4365275/

I’m not sure if it’s against the forum rules to share the link to XDA above, if yes then admin please delete my post ya.

Bear in mind that you need to root your phone first. So you’ve to be very careful and there is a step that requires changing the phone’s SKU using a hex editor. If you’re unfamiliar with all these, you better don’t do it to avoid bricking your phone. Perform the conversion only if you’re technically comfortable to do it.

These are the SKUs for Pixel 7:
GVU6C - Global
G03Z5 - Japan

Disclaimer:
Research before acting.
The instructions require basic Linux/Android knowledge. You could brick your phone if you’re unsure what you're doing.
I can only confirm that this works on my phone. But I'm not responsible for anything that happens to yours. Use at your own risk.
