The store manager said next batch will be in Oct 10/12, could be earlier. I’m ok waiting, more worried coz there’s no return or replacement form or anything at all, she just took back the phone and that’s it. I told her I need something, cannot just pass my phone over to her and that’s it, so I took a video of the scene…to safeguard myself just incase..

They made me signed an acceptance letter (before opening the box of course) and gave me a copy. But didn’t give me anything when I request for exchange…

just received a call from Maxis store manager and she say Apple rejected the defect, say its due to material, now they are arranging to send in the device for further investigation.... and if investigation decline the claim, I will have to take it back and live with it... lol?

P/S: sending in to investigate and sending back etc might take a long time lmao... thats absurd..

Spoke to Apple directly via phone, after 2 hours on the line being transferred around, finally the senior supervisor/ manager took over the case and told me he saw those pics and he would personally return it if its his unit, scratches are obvious and absurd, he reassured me they will contact maxis to issue a replacement. He said Maxis is not their accredited resellers like Machines/ Switch etc, they are third party so it will take a while. He will go directly to maxis's dispute team, which handle cases like these, and get them to send instruction to the stores directly to issue replacement. I'm expecting 2-3 weeks for these...

the scratches were quite bad in person, its as if I put it on a rough surface and force scratch it on purpose....normally I would just suck it up if its not much.... imagine the feeling of holding it yet need to return and wait for couple more weeks...

and yes thats exactly what Apple said, no way we pay for new phone and unbox to see scratches like these, the manager I spoke to said he is a consumer himself and would make a fuss over similar issue...especially paying for a product well over a thousand dollars..

Wow... if Maxis were to do a RMA on the phone, it would take at least 2 to 3 weeks to get a replacement unit. Usually replacement units are called seed units and it might be used. Not a bearer of bad news, but u might want to consider not replacing if they were to provide a seed unit.

I asked, they say it will be totally brand new unit just like the one I just unboxed..she further said that the phone is still very new for any replacement or refurbished to be available.

She also mention the replacement will come from next batch which is oct 10/12

Yea gotta wait for weeks..I think my case is not considered as RMA, more of a 1 to 1 coz I opened and reject on the spot…but can’t replace me instant due to no stock…luckily I’m not too hyped this time around..coz 15pm and 14PM not too huge difference..if it’s like iPhone X era then I think I’ll be damn angry rn..haha

I consider myself unlucky + yes this year’s QC seems to be lacking. Never had such issue since iPhone 2, had abit of hiccups with iPad pros (gen 3 screen irresponsive), others are smooth.

Malaysia also 14 days replacement, not sure about refund. Put freebies aside, when you’re unlucky you would appreciate services like these, where they change 1 to 1 without delay or further questioning.

I think once Apple Store opens here I’ll not buy from elsewhere, don’t want the freebies, rather go with good after sales. And I’ll mostly bid goodbye to telco contracts too, with all the plans getting cheaper and cheaper, no point going for 2 years contract + buying from them (third party)…this will most likely be my last contract…

Unless it’s open box defect..then you are entitled 1 to 1 exchange..just clarified with Apple high ups supervisor. We are entitled to reject a defected product upon open box, regardless what the defect is, coz open box defect is considered manufacturer defect.

Heard many hoda users complain about the overlapping edges this time around? So what’s the next best? I’ve been a loyal hoda and was planning to get it, with all these reports I think I’m switching to another brand…maybe amazing thing or something else..
