I recently found out the Mongeeks actually tend to double press in certain key.

like you typing '4000', some time will result in 40000(mostly happen on top row 1 and 0)
i suspect that causing by its wireless or something.  or i using it wrong way?

Try swapping the switches for those specific keys first

it's a keyboard, there is no way for you to use it 'the wrong way'.

maybe you should tell us what you have done to test the key in question first. e.g., replacing it with unmodded key switch, and still have such an issue.

tbh i never experience this issue before. usually, the symptom is called key chattering that can be caused by various factors, the most common ones being dust getting into key switches, or spring weight being too light for the user. sometimes, it can be caused by short circuits due to overtightened screws.

however, from your description, neither is the case.

overtightened screw?..you mean for the outercase?.. i kinda overtighten abit that for MG75 plastic board..as i added poron underneath the case replacing that 1mm thin foam.
but for M1 i think you cant overtighten it...as it both side aluminum

*edit
maybe the switch spring just too light. later i try get some heavier switch to test (maybe buy 10 to test)

in case you wanted to replace the locking system for tkd cycle 7 in case they are worn off, you can search 'double ball catch' at shopee and profit. taobao also has a lot of options.

Tecware Phantom + and Phantom + Elite are relatively new. Released last December. They have gotten rave reviews, and from my short test in a Thundermatch, it feels and sounds good! I may be getting one myself if there's a deal on 8.8. I need more boards to put my keycaps on. Haha.

Very interested to pick one up, but don’t have tmt in my city, can only buy and use direct no testing hahaha

Did you managed to get one?

Nah. Had other stuff I needed to buy this month. Couldn't justify spending 288 on what was basically a spare keyboard cum keycap tray.

you must disconnect the board from power source, and then do the inside-out cleanup. after cleaning it up, let it air-dry for few days. rinse it with ipa if necessary.

it's better to have regular cleanups.

I once spilled milo on a majestouch 2 too.
Works well to this day.

Basically I just removed the keycaps and thoroughly wash them.
Then use cotton buds to dry and clean the inside of the keyboard.
Let it dry for a day then reassemble it.

Keyboards can technically survive even a dishwasher (though with shorter lifespan). So a bit of liquid should be ok.

Thanks for the advices. The cleaning kit arrived yesterday and I quickly get to work on my keyboard. To my surprise removing the keycaps are very easy to do. Then I quickly used the brushes provided to remove all the accumulated dusts and gunk that's been there eversince I bought the keyboard years ago. Still, due to the cat's puke, my keyboard now smell like dried fish lol. As for the keycaps I wash it with dishwasher soap and I am going to let it dry for a few days.

As for function goes, my keyboard now seems to function back to normal after cleaning. The scroll lock key in which previously does not work due to the puke now functions. As of now my keyboard is naked without the caps. Maybe I need a backup keycaps so that I can rotate it between cleaning time.

nice smile.gif just do what you can to clean it up. in reality, it's tedious to do a proper cleanup for a soldered board with plate, because it involves desoldering parts like switches and leds as well.

this is also why i don't eat and drink in front of keyboards anymore.

in your case, you might not need to go for a full cleanup, because water from cat's vomit might not be sufficient to flow freely on to electronic components like pcb.

Hi guys, I'm totally new in this mechanical keyboard field. But GF likes it and has been talking about it. So I'm thinking of getting her one for her Bday next week.

I did what research I could for hours and I needed some recommendation and there's a few criteria:
- I'm thinking of getting a factory stock that comes with everything assembled and preferably with a kit so we can customize it in future.
- She does spreadsheet at work so I think I've come to narrow down to 1800 (exploded, preferably).
- Since she works in office, prefer something not click-clack-loud, I youtube around and like the sound of something like this < https://www.youtube.com/shorts/a3BnB3wBEZ8 >. Are these customizable only or can I get it anywhere pre-assembled? I also read something about pre-lubed or lube. Lube's sound is better too.
- Lastly I'll buy some cute keycap with bunny and kitten on them so I can replace a few of the keys.

So with these criterias, any brand / model I should go for? Will I have to aseemble myself with all these criterias involved? Thanks a bunch guys!

maybe you should ask what she wants first.

in terms of kits with 1800-like layout, maybe you should check out keychron, akko, and monsgeek for such options. kbdfans odin also has the similar layout. you can use google to look for other options.

for key switches, beside sound, you should check if she likes linear or tactile. 'prelubed' means factory lubed, and i assumed 'lubed' means hand-lubed. overlubed switches usually sound different. fine-lubed key switches are relatively similar to the original.

if she's a beginner, you can give her anything hotswap, and then optimize based on her preferences from there.

Decided to swap out the Gateron Yellow Pros on my home office workstation keyboard.
Gateron Yellows are alright linears, but the amount of stem wobble is just too much for me.

Swapped out to the Haimu Benevolence Tactile switch
Picked the benevolence mainly due to it's "clackyness" and very distinct tactile bump.... more tactile than the (Feker) Holy Pandas IMO.
It's also a pretty affordable switch.

While I was at Pantheon keyboard shop, I tested out a keyboard with Gateron Oil Kings.
Felt like a completely different built compared to the Oil Kings on my own keyboard.
It was very quiet, only slightly louder than the Boba U4s.
Didn't had much time to note the keyboard used, but I believe the extra fluffy desk mat certainly helped reduced the noise too.

Are you facing this when the keyboard is plugged in or on battery power?
I recalled I had a keyboard which only had this issue when it was plugged in through a faulty USB hub...

I've built 3 MG75 so far for friends.
During the several days of testing, I didn't really had any issues.
Perhaps you can conduct the test by disconnecting the battery and directly connect via USB to see if that helps?

As for spare switches, it depends if there is a demand for it.
If there is, you can sell them.

I had a set of gateron reds and browns with me which was extremely hard to sell.
What I did was, I bought those cheap keyboard sets like the CIY tester that cost around RM 60-80 bucks.

Lubed and changed the springs on those gateron switches.
Assembled the spare switches and keycaps on the Ciy tester.
Modded it so it sounded better.
Then I gifted those away to friends who've not used mechanical keyboards or mainly used clicky gamer keyboards.
So you spend RM 60-80 more to create a RM 200+ gift.

Now i go try with usb connected. (in office no tool to unassemble the keyboard)

Maybe power too low?

I was lucky that the vomit liquid were thick enough not to free flow into my keyboard. Attached is what my keyboard looked like before and after.

Since all the keycaps were removed, might as well get myself a new set of keycaps.

Saw one seller who sells this pattern of keycaps (not sure what are the colour scheme called) whom has a photo of a filco with this keycaps. Said
that this were made of PBT so I just bought it. Once arrived I quickly install it. So far looked good and hopefully will lasts for a long time.

apparently your board is long due for a cleanup. you never experienced key chattering? i always wonder why owners with boards in such conditions never complain about it, while those with relatively clean-looking ones do.

as for the key caps, if they are dye-sub, they will last.

I am not sure myself because I never experienced key chattering. Maybe because of the keyboard build quality perhaps that such thing happens?
Yes they are the dye sub type. Initially wanting a double shot keycaps only to be told that are for backlit keyboards and suggested dye sub instead.
So far the keycaps felt nice when typing and the looks are refreshing.
