I just saw this bad review about CASA ASIA in USJ.com.my.

03-12-2011 - folding type auto gate system casa asia

"Some 6 months back i cotracted this installer for the above gate system..he was cvery nice n recommended a gate maker he personally guranteed n assured me of next day after sales service n gave a written warranty of i year for electrical n 2 years for motor and lifetime for lightning ..since then i have had recurrent problems ..to which he sent his men to attend but only after repeated calls...about a month back the keypad for operating the gates from the house failed to operate the gates ..again only after several calls was the problem attended and just 3 weeks ago the keypad FAILED YET AGAIN .. this time he was very arrogent and gave me dates several times but failed to turn up..he now does not receive my calls n his office girl gives all sorts of excuses..i am disgusted withe man ..and want a solution to this..but short of making a report to the arbitration tribunal what shd i do ..thec gate system is the casa asia 320H... "

What are your thoughts guys?

Actually, it is quite common to come across contractors/ supplier, etc that will give their best promise when they try to win the job. After that, will depends..... Some will honour their promise. While for some, you really have to follow up with them. While for the worst case, they will even ignore your calls. You just have to carry out your own checks, ask around, etc....
Sometimes, common sense prevails. If the price offered is too good to be true, then it is. biggrin.gif

Ask the company for some references. Also make sure the installers have their own full time staff technicians to provide support, not freelance contractors who just install and leave. Usually an autogate will need some fine tuning after installation to make sure the motors cut-off, the gate doesn't slam, the high-speed/low-speed is set correctly etc.

Sometimes the batch we get are a bad one and it does not mean the whole model range is bad.
Depends on luck

The auto gate system also works hand-in-hand with the gate itself.
If the gate itself is not functioning well, it will also effect the whole auto gate mechanism.

Get installers which will change part for part instead of trying to repair your problem on a case by case basis. e.g. if you arm is faulty, change the whole arm. if the controller board is faulty, replace the whole board. Established installers are able to do that as they have a part exchange/repair arrangement with their suppliers.

Smaller installers will try to repair the parts on a case by case basis as they do not carry stock and would be reluctant to fork out any more money for an installation where there is no more money to be made.

Small or big, they will do the same. If is installed new and few weeks it come problem they usually swap. After few months, they will try repair or give you a spare before warranty claim.

There are installers which provide a 1-for-1 replacement during their warrantee period. That's why you usually see very similar arms gates being sold with 1 year, 2 year & 3 year warranties. The premium which you pay for the 2 year/ 3 year warranty is bourned by the installers as the factory only provides 1 year. There are at least 2-3 installers in the market which commit to a 1-for-1 replacement for some of their selected autogate systems.

Sometimes it's also for convenience & safety, instead of having your gate repaired and out of action for 2-3 days. The installer can just come an replace the faulty component (arm, controller, receiver module, solenoid lock etc) within the hour and restore the gate's operation immediately.

Guess what? I met the same autogate installer that was complained above today! He knows about the comment made in the other forum but said that it was customer fault. Apparently, the cusotmer pressed the remote button (dunno la what button) too long and triggered the auto lock switch. Dunno to belif or not. But yes, he promised in writinig 3 yrs warranty for motor, 1 year for control panel, and lifetime warranty for lightning. But his price is killer despite having the same function as DCMOTO basic model rclxub.gif

Usually, pay peanuts get monkey, especially in the city...
If too cheap, chances of hit and run high.
Get installers that has been in the business long.
Chances of bad ethics should be less.

Or buy branded like DC Moto or OAE? Coz it's commonly carrying by most of the autogate installer. So no worry on after sales service or spare parts even your existing autogate installer MIA or close business.

Get some common brand that most installers are able to service. Parts are also easy (maybe cheap) to get...

beside brand and the control board, is the gate arm interchangeable with other brand? Or have to use the same brand, same modal?
