This is referring to power on and off. Someone earlier that despite turning every sound off, including in accessibility where you can off sound in Audio/visual then ‘power on and off’, his iphone still is not silent when power on and off.

I know that. I didn’t comprehend what you were saying in your last post, not what you were referring to.

I thought the law regarding usb-c by the end of 2024, all mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU will have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port. From spring 2026, the obligation will extend to laptops. So Apple need to comply with the law.

If they were to make a portless iphone and using magsafe with usb-c wont it cost more since now they have to supply magsafe with each new iphone? If they want to force millions to buy magsafe to charge their new iphones then they are risking people jumping to another brand. Its cheaper just to comply with the law and just put a usb-c like they have done on the ipad.

Not to mention having wireless charging is still not there yet. Its a secondary optional charging way while usb-c is not only fast in charging, what if you need to transfer a big video file directly to your laptop/macbook?

Or even using Apple itunes Connect to your iphone? What if people want to use their 3.5mm head phone jack? Cant sell a dongle for that if theres not port. If you change your battery at apple or authorize dealer they also need to connect your iphone to a computer to update so it wont display battery warning and will show battery health. The port isnt just for charging, its use for many other things.

Too much hassle when the solution is just to remove the lightining port and change it with a usb-c port is easy and cheap for Apple. They done it for the Ipad.

Firstly, yes, that’s the sound now under iOS16. Then, it’s strange given what you said. Try restarting the phone. If it still sounds with the feature off, a trip to the service centre is necessary.

Just an update, I tried Reset all Settings. Looks like problem solved for now. I guess it was a glitch.

I just have one thing to say, mind you not that I don’t agree with your observations, though those can be addressed just based on their journal thus far…’You don’t know Apple’.

Actually most times, restarting the phone will do the trick. That will do away with you having to set all the settings all over again to your requirements.

True, but restarting didn’t help this time. I had to reset all the settings. My guess is due to transferring the old settings from
an older phone which caused some kind of conflict with the new settings. Wild guess though.

Well, yours is one of those times you need to do what you did. What’s important is the nagging issue is eradicated.

I think port-less iphone will happen sooner or later but i doubt its anytime by 2024. Still too many issue to solve as wireless transfer and wireless charging is still slower than cables.

I want all have same speed and then apple can start making super fast charging with usb-c like how Oneplus has that crazy fast charging full battery in 30 minutes or something. GG if apple decide pro model have faster charging/transfer while normal model slower, would piss people off.

We will wait and see then what Apple does but Apple under Tim Cook focus more on profit than innovation. Which is why i think they wont rush to go port-less yet.

The ink (dark blue) is original Apple. Almost same feel, except for Nomad, the 4 sides are not covered by leather but leather quality is slightly better. Overall both beautiful cases.

Since I have some time on my hands, I shall delve a bit into this. Again, whilst you are not wrong about the Cook, it is precisely, if you care to think a little deeper, because of his mindset that Apple will go portless. If they opt for USB-C, their profits will erode as, for one, they cannot sell their proprietary lightning cables and 2, this being the kicker, many out there would already have the Type C chargers. Even if they don’t, there are tons in the market which work just as well, if not better and of course will be much cheaper.

Going portless would mean that the sales of their MagSafe chargers which they have so vehemently promoted would grow given that it is touted as most suitable for iPhones especially with the like cases. And let’s not forget their AirPods and AirPods Pro.

However, once again I reiterate, we will have to wait and see when the time comes.

If you don’t like to press the physical buttons too much/often, use Assistive Touch.

I still hope that they keep a usb-c port like all the issues you mentioned above, because I still connect my phone to a DAC and then headphones to listen to HR lossless via Apple Music.

Realistically I don’t think the wireless devices will happen anytime soon, the technology is not as matured as you think and also if they don’t hit certain profitability right now, it costs too much to come up with an entire new device with its new technology in these uncertain times. The direction of Apple has always been quite conservative. The 100% wireless device will only be released by other companies first, like Samsung that has the capacity and risk appetite to experiment first.
