Guys and particularly those who had my same experience, this is for your information.

After a barrage of complaints from me, Maxis Recovery Team called me. They then arranged for me to go to their service centre and get the 14 Pro that I wanted without any conditions.

The centre with the stock was [at TTDI. I took the liberty to ask them whether it’s their requirement to have existing customers add on before being allowed to renew their contract to purchase an iPhone and I was given a definitive NO. Does that mean that much like their dealers, each centre is given a free hand to conduct their business the way they deem commercially viable? If that’s the case, then for such a conglomerate. It leaves much to be desired.

So, those who are still looking to get a unit, take note. However, with Maxis, you never know what can happen despite what they tell us.

Long shot but hopefully someone can help. When I installed the Starbucks App I was using an Android phone.

Now that I have switched back to an iPhone, I am in a dilemma. When I registered my Apple ID ages ago I used an US address and thus am on US App Store. Starbucks App that I installed is a Malaysia one and US App Store does not have that, only US’s.

Are there others who share this issue? If so, any solution to circumvent this problem? Any input is appreciated.

Either:
1. Switch the country from US to MY on your current Apple ID (I am not sure if this is still possible now. I recalled it was allowed back then)
2. Register a new Apple ID as MY account

I also have the same problem like you where my 1st Apple ID is registered as US account. However since I use the US account very little I opted to create a 2nd Apple ID registered as MY account. I now use/subscribe using that MY account. If I really need to get something in US account, I will just log out MY account (in App Store, not Settings there), login to US account, download the app I want and logout-login back to MY account.

I only have a couple of app I link to US account (due to subscription and I have Apple credit in USD that I want to clear it off)

Thanks for your reply. Know and understand but I would like to stay with the US account. Was hoping there’s a worldwide Starbucks App. If not, I may just have to switch to Coffee Bean…Hehe.

I can actually still use the Starbucks Card.

I used 2 Apple ID
One for US, one for Malaysia

Yeah, I know that can be done too but if I can help it, I don’t want to do that.

Can US Apple account accepts Malaysia credit card as payment method?
*
You know what? I don’t know. Because I didn’t register my CC as I don’t purchase any apps. But I believe they can be accepted. After all MasterCard and Visa are international, no?

Could I check with you guys? Before updating to iOS16.0.3, when I made a call and wanted to have it on speaker, I just click the icon and it’ll go into speaker phone. But now when I do it, there is a prompt to select iPhone, Speaker or iPad(which I have). It’s an extra step.

Is it a latest feature that we have to live with now?

I think it’s due to the number of devices if you connect Bluetooth

If i have my headphones then it will show up a list but if nothing is connected then speaker will be the option
*
Thanks for your input. However, my BT is most of the time off. Are you saying if and when I want to use the speaker phone, once clicked, we are given OPTIONS? Previously, IIRC, it immediately goes speaker when selected. You are saying we now have to have an extra step in picking an option but why does Apple do it this way?

Is "Calls On Other Devices" on or off for your iPad? (Settings > Phone > Calls On Other Devices)
*
I did try to off that in my iPad. However, the options still show up. I believe unless I stand corrected, the options are always there because when you click for speaker phone it prompts you to select iPhone or Speaker or iPad. Much like other iOS functions, Apple just want to ensure you pick the right option for your action.

Hmm you probably need to disable Handoff entirely on your iPad then if you want to prevent it from showing up: https://support.apple.com/en-my/guide/ipad/...16784270/ipados

Appreciate your input but that’s not the solution to the issue I brought up.

As it stands, it is presently solved. What I did was off ‘Calls From iPhone’ in Settings under FaceTime in iPad and ‘Calls on Other Devices’ in Settings under Phone in iPhone. Another forummer did mention that but that time when I did, it didn’t work.

Anyway, it’s all good now.

Do the phone make a beep sound whenever it starts up? Audio/Visual startup and shutdown sound is off in Settings.
*
To set up the Power On & Off Sound, you have to go into Accessibility in Settings, then Audio/Visual and then toggle it on or off there. Of course, if it is off, there would be no sound.

I would wait for USB-C.

It might not happen at all. There is a possibility that Apple will go completely wireless. With that said, we’ll have to wait and see.

Mine is turned off but the sound still appears when start up. The sound is more like a beep instead of the Power On sound feature.
*
Firstly, yes, that’s the sound now under iOS16. Then, it’s strange given what you said. Try restarting the phone. If it still sounds with the feature off, a trip to the service centre is necessary.

Or just Europe version. Global still lightning.

Apple is given 2 years to comply with the law passed. However, it is heavily rumored that they would in that time innovate an iPhone without any ports rather than with USB-C. As I said, we will have to wait to see which is true.

Hopefully they do not use slower USB C port like the news on iPad 10th gen.

If at all they change to USB-C, which I doubt, it would not be an inferior one.

Without physical buttons as well. Would be interesting if they pull this off.

To me, it’s a bad idea. Since it’s touch sensitive there would be accidental triggers as the placements of these ‘buttons’ would be where your fingers lay on.

This is referring to power on and off. Someone earlier that despite turning every sound off, including in accessibility where you can off sound in Audio/visual then ‘power on and off’, his iphone still is not silent when power on and off.
*
I know that. I didn’t comprehend what you were saying in your last post, not what you were referring to.

QUOTE(PhalanxID @ Nov 3 2022, 03:33 AM)
I thought the law regarding usb-c by the end of 2024, all mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU will have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port. From spring 2026, the obligation will extend to laptops. So Apple need to comply with the law.

If they were to make a portless iphone and using magsafe with usb-c wont it cost more since now they have to supply magsafe with each new iphone? If they want to force millions to buy magsafe to charge their new iphones then they are risking people jumping to another brand. Its cheaper just to comply with the law and just put a usb-c like they have done on the ipad.

Not to mention  having wireless charging is still not there yet. Its a secondary optional charging way while usb-c is not only fast in charging, what if you need to transfer a big video file directly to your laptop/macbook?

Or even using Apple itunes  Connect to your iphone? What if people want to use their 3.5mm head phone jack? Cant sell a dongle for that if theres not port. If you change your battery at apple or authorize dealer they also need to connect your iphone to a computer to update so it wont display battery warning and will show battery health. The port isnt just for charging, its use for many other things.

Too much hassle when the solution is just to remove the lightining port and change it with a usb-c port is easy and cheap for Apple. They done it for the Ipad.
*
I just have one thing to say, mind you not that I don’t agree with your observations, though those can be addressed just based on their journal thus far…’You don’t know Apple’.

Just an update, I tried Reset all Settings. Looks like problem solved for now. I guess it was a glitch.

Actually most times, restarting the phone will do the trick. That will do away with you having to set all the settings all over again to your requirements.

True, but restarting didn’t help this time. I had to reset all the settings. My guess is due to transferring the old settings from
an older phone which caused some kind of conflict with the new settings. Wild guess though.

Well, yours is one of those times you need to do what you did. What’s important is the nagging issue is eradicated.
