Bought a set of Piaa wipers for my city. At first, good. Few months later, shuddering and water streaking appeared.
Gave up, replaced with Bosch Advantage and never looked back.
More expensive wiper is worth it?

Bought Bosch Aerotwin back in 2019 and used it until this year 2022. Just replaced the same model.
So far the best wiper for me.. each year I tried to refresh the rubber and it can last another year.. only this year it shown the wear & tear, no longer able to sweep of the rain cleanly. |

After reading all the comments here, it seems that the best bet is to buy cheap and replace it as needed because the top end wiper life varies with different factors.
So I bought bosch advantage. RM15 for the pair. I use it for month, before suddenly the driver side become all juddery and skipping so bad that it causes the wiper to come off from the hook and left black rubbery mark all over the windshield. Upon closer inspection, it was caused by the wiper blade being 1 inch too long. This causes the edge of the wiper blade does not have the proper force pushing down on the windshield. My car is old Proton Persona, most seller says it uses 19" and 21", but I do think the driver side could use a shorter blade. Tried swapping the 19" blade on driver side, the wiper works just fine no problem. One other factor might be caused by the design of the blade. The cheap bosch advantage uses frame wiper design. Frameless wiper have better force applied on the windshield, eliminating juddering problem. |

Bought a whole bunch looking for a proper set.
1. SWV wipers (lifetime warranty) at about Rm300 per pair, service people kept throwing the ball at one another, not sure if still active but damn they merely wiped marginally better than those roadside ones at a hefty premium. 2. Those sold from a car at petrol station at about Rm15-35 per piece - terribly disappointed due to how cheap and bad it wiped. 3. Best pair I had so far was Stanford brought from Giant for about Rm30 one set. Actually coated my windscreen and helped prevent some watermarks. Since then no more on sale. Still works after few years but streaking has started, time to hunt for another pair i suppose. Would also agree that there's a need to clean the wipers and windscreen periodically. If already with watermarks have to use machine or elbow grease to do manually with: (MAKE SURE TO WASH AND CLAY BEFOREHAND) Dont bother with all those youtube videos on vinegar la, some bar of soap that allegedly removes watermarks, IPA, lemon, dish washer etc. a. Soft99 Glass stain remover, or b. Meguiars glass polishing compound Would help to also coat it when its clean and dry with something like Soft 99 Glaco (normal or ultra, depending on your use case). A cheap 10-bucks wiper can last up to a year for me. Good enough. Heck, even those at Brother's are also good enough.
Avoid silicone wipers because of their attraction to dust. Pay so much but receive scratches on the windscreen instead. |

QUOTE(dudester @ Nov 15 2022, 03:14 PM) Thanks. Just bought the Pro to try. It was on flash sale. I used to have a silicon wiper in the past for my other car but over the years it deteriorated in terms of performance. Been sticking with rubber lately and it hasn't really been an issue. Cheaper and just replace when needed. They recommend the Silicon but i try the pro first. |

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Jul 25 2022, 11:18 PM) Is it better to get more expensive wiper blades replace when needed or buy cheaper wiper but replace them every year? I buy Bosch wipers at around RM10 each. Use for 1-2 years and replace. happy with this practise.Right now I'm using bosch clear advantage, started to leave water streaks after 2 years of use. |
