Is it better to get more expensive wiper blades replace when needed or buy cheaper wiper but replace them every year?
Right now I'm using bosch clear advantage, started to leave water streaks after 2 years of use.
More expensive wiper is worth it?

I tried Bosch clear advantage before. Not much different from cheaper one. I am back using cheap silicon wiper and quite satisfy with it. The problem is that the quality may vary. cawan and babisotong liked this post

I am using PIAA wipers, it is juddering already after 6 months..
But I am still using it, thinking to apply some liquid to the windshield. |

So far so good.As long as no irritating sound, im OK But of course, got minor water streak Will observe if this could last more than a year. Previously tried an rm18 silicone wiper that was bough online. Only lasted about 10 months before it starts juddering & streaking. |

Since the days of my Vios 2003, I have always swapped to PIAA on all my cars in the household. I'd say my longest was on my wife's Jazz which lasted me at least 6 years before the car was sold. My Mini currently is on it as well. They leave a good layer on the windscreen which helps with water dispersion. And I would say I have had up to 10 pairs on various cars I have owned since then, with none requiring replacement.
The trick is, have your blades cleaned/alcohol wipes every now and then. There will always be dirt/dust/grime after some time. Some car wash are not detailed to clean the wipers and just raise and put back down. Keeping them clean is the best way to reduce judders/vibrations or streaks. |

I am back using cheap silicon wiper and quite satisfy with it. The problem is that the quality may vary. the silicone wiper scratches the windshield. never again buy from no name silicone wiper. |

If you buy those expensive PIAA wiper set, usually they will provide the coating liquid to apply on windscreen before you fit it. |

I did apply that alcohol-smelling compound (Similar to Soft99, but not better) onto my windshield. If you buy those expensive PIAA wiper set, usually they will provide the coating liquid to apply on windscreen before you fit it. I left it overnight before i wiped it away. After few weeks, it still judders.. |

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Jul 25 2022, 11:18 PM) Is it better to get more expensive wiper blades replace when needed or buy cheaper wiper but replace them every year? Using PIAA silicone refill blades on 3/4 of my cars. All last until now never change, except for kancil (got changed out mistakenly by my visiting uncle after loan this car to him for 6 mths). Oldest is 13yrs on weekend car, followed by 9.5yrs for a daily driven workhorse.Right now I'm using bosch clear advantage, started to leave water streaks after 2 years of use. For the workhorse, it went thru the most inclement weather you can throw at it in Semenanjung roads, and it still wipe like day 1 till now. If it streaks a bit, all I have to do is just wipe the PIAA blades with wet tissue (to scrub out dirts) and it works like new again. On my other workhorse (that 1/4 above), I am using normal silicone blades (Mr.DIY ones currently, at half of PIAA price). Can wipe clean, but if too little water on screen to lubricate, they will skip a bit. If you are having doubt, but eager to try, search for " PIAA refill blade" in Lazada/Shopee. You can install these PIAA blades in your existing wiper frames. Of kos, I am ass-uming you are using those normal black metal wiper frames coz some cars maybe using frameless wipers. |
