Hi sidu, does anyone use budget tyres like Lanvigator, PallyKing or Farroad before ? are they ok to use since im not a fast n furiious driver.

Anyone here use b4 ?
*
Bro, what tire size your looking? Nowadays Toyo CR1 pricing also quite competitive and local made.
If pricing different too much, would rather support local made Toyo tires from Kamunting/Taiping.

215/60R16.

Lanvigator ard 170 per donut. Toyo CR1 cheapest i can find 305.

Quite a big diff if change 4 donuts

If you just want to be cheap, i rather go ask tire shop got any used/2nd hand tire.
The tire from reputable brand even 2nd hand also more better than china brand in term of performance anytime.

but i heard nowdays their tyres are quite ok compare to last time.

hence thought of giving it a try.

previously i always go for continental only

There is no cheap/free lunch in this world, there are reason why they are cheap at first. My mechanic bought a lot of cheap tire to test and in the end prefer to buy middle range. Cheap tire he feedback to me when got puncture, the rubber material they use not easy to bond with the patch available in market, thus of the low quality rubber, they are easier to burst and wear faster compare to reputable brand. This normally tire shop wont tell you, as if anything happen on the road is your own already.

No budget, but doesn’t want overrated Michelin. Thanks for the recommendation. Any reason behind you’ve chosen CR1?
*
This CR1 is made in Malaysia factory from Toyo
To be exact Kamunting/Taiping, with this current bad economy state i would rather support local made products if want to go for budget range.

Will see how it goes, don't really travel a lot as my 4.5years old Myvi also still only travel below 30k KM total distance as of now...
I changed the tyre (Original Goodyear tyre, Triple Max Assurance I believe) because the contact surface of the tyre is having some crack and dents, photo from online which looks similar but mine like having bigger patch of dents...

Bro, this is normal for all premium tires. Michelin, Yokohama, Bridgestone all also same coz of softer rubber compound.
You gain better comfort, more silent and better braking performance with it. If go for those cheap lower range, their rubber compound usually is more harder thus the opposite of the above.

Support Malaysia no problem, but recent weather is really terrible.  If can save, I’m okay since Axia confirmed go for eco tyres.

I used CR1 on my Kelisa & also my cousin Honda City is using it.
No issues for normal drive in wet or dry, consider comfort & silent tires.

What are the impacts of fitting a slightly wider tyre on stock wheels.

Taking a Myvi for an example the stock tyre size is 185/55/R15.

If I decide to fit a 195/55/15 tyre on to it will there be any problems discounting that I understand that the tyre will "bulge" out slightly, increase FC slightly.

How can I compensate the tyre pressure to account for the slightly larger volume?
*
Bro, if your Myvi got the latest ASA, ABS & Traction control i would recommend to stick to original size due to safety concern.

1st reason - ASA need to be recalibrate for any suspension or different tire size (Coz it will impact the vehicle height and camera need adjustment to match the suitable height angle)

2nd reason - Your original ABS/VSC are also calibrated using the tire size and any bigger or smaller tires it will impact the effectiveness also. Here not much people will tell you, if in Australia or other parts of the world any changes in tire or sport rim size need to recalibrate ABS module to match the new tire size. Here anything happen is your problem, since you agree to change the tire size.

If your ride dont have any ABS or ASA system, you want mod any size you want is your choice.

what are the option for 15" tyre on old alza?
original is 185 55 R15, can i use 185 60 R15? or 195 60 R15?

https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Golden rule of changing different size is never out of 3% from original diameter.
Tire shop with knowledge will use tiresize calculator or formula to measure and inform of owner the advantage and disadvantage of changing different size

- Fuel Consumption
- Comfort
- Handling
- Safety Concern (If original car got fitted with ABS/VSA/ASA)
- Suspension/ Bearing (Wear & Tear, Lifespan might impact)
- Speedometer

Is it still safe to drive on this tyre ?

As per other member feedback, need open up and see the internal if inside also already rubbed and crack on the side wall then cannot use already. Usually if serious when open up the tires inside will got a lot of rubber debris can throw de.

235/45/18
deciding between
- hankook vp4 470/pc
- continental UC 7 535/pc

any other tyre model is welcomed

what is your driving preference, just normal comfort drive?

https://www.tyrereviews.com/

Just go to this website and see the reviews of your tire model and decide.

BTW, please check your tyre size comparison. Do not over 3% diameter from previous original size.

th aks bro. just check with see & see. lppl have to stick  with ori sizes. knnccb...theses  mercsand bmw like to give odd sizes!
*
There are reason for odd sizes as to increase the traction and high speed/cornering stability.
Most RWD cars & performance rides does got wider size for the driving wheels

My fathers BMW e90 320d is a good sample (Original FR 225/45/R17, Rear 255/40/R17), changes 1 time same 225/45/R17 for all tires after that regretted.
Why? -> Driving dynamics really felt weird and sway a lot in the rear when picking up or enter corner fast, especially rainy days even felt more worse.
Only good is fuel consumption might be better a bit as it is lighter.

Unless you drive very slow (Which i doubt for most continental drivers) there are reason why the engineers put in the odd tire size at first.

you probably used back the same rim?... yes it can fit but the profile/stance changed quite a bit... to do a square setup "properly" you need same sized rims as the front and spacers...
*
You changed aftermarket rims also wont be perfect if you add in spacers unless original rims from BMW.
Personally for Continentals stick to original setup is the best. Once you mod, never ending stories, later upgrade this rim, that rim, change tire size in the end most revert back original sport rim/tire size still the best.

MC7 from what i gathered information the traction is good, but side wall still a bit soft. Few people tested on tracks feedback the sidewall wordings mostly gone after few rounds of hard driving.

The main question, is it good as Michelin PS4/PS5, or indeed better? Cz of the price, nowadays the PS5 price drop so much that end up similar to MC7/UC7 which both are new product. From past experiences using PS3 and PS4, I can vouch both are excel on Wet, heavy rain
*
If you ask me, base on today OTR performance tyre i will go for PS4. PS4 is more performance oriented and even better than PS5 itself and it is under UUHP or Max Performance tire category (Which is even higher 1 level compare to MC7 UHP)

The real contender from Continental is the Sport Contact 7 not MC7 against Michelin PS4.

localize product only for our SEA region? If it good, why not sell the design to use abroad like other well known Continental Product, as what model u mentioned.
*
MC6 does export out. I believe MC7 will be out to other areas soon as it is categorized as normal UHP tires and can sell at a lower cost level compare to the Sports Contact. They are competing with Michelin and each other big brands so will need to create different models to cater different group.

FYI the old Michelin PS3 is still under UHP category, and some tyre size still selling under PS3 model line.

my saga 2024 is stock on 185/55/15, i want to change to 205/45/17, what are your thoughts? and what about 195/50/16?
*
1st of all, you need to worry is the sport rim offset. A lot of sport rim in market is not for Saga and after fit will hit the fender when fetching heavy load or people. After that mechanic/tire shop will scam you to change aftermarket sport suspension/spring/buffer stuff and even more money wasted for mods to keep your sport rims.

2nd is the tire diameter. Did you check using tire size comparison?
There is a golden rule of not over +/-3% from original diameter as it will impact speedometer and suspension settings.

https://tiresize.com/comparison/

What the reason of changing bigger sport rim? Untuk gaya? Bro, your engine only 1.3L and fuel gonna price up soon. If want better stability in corners, get wider/lighter 15inch sport rim and fit 195/50/R15, this size is more common and cheaper to change.

BTW if your ride is new and still going back to SC to service, changing other sport rim and tire size can impact your warranty especially suspension & gearbox related. Better keep your original tires and rims, if anything happen need to revert back original before go claim warranty.

Aiyo.. I jst bought. but have not installed. still sitting in my living room. That bad huh ? I got VP4 - 205/50/16. Replacing 215/45/16. Whats the average do you drive that made u feel that the tires were not up to your requirements? Im jst daily to and fro from office. Dont really go past 100.

Should I sell them off?
*
https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Hankook/Ventus-Prime-4.htm

FYI, latest test VP4 is even more quiet than Primacy 4.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2024-Mo...r-Tyre-Test.htm

Comfort
Bridgestone produced the highest noise level at 73.3 dB, while Hankook was the quietest at 71.2 dB during the pass-by noise test

I believe every new generation for sure got improvement, i will still go for VP4 if given a good value.
Only weakness from the test the comfort level is just average.

Thats why I see mixed reviews everywhere. review sites seems to say its decent enough, bt many user experience also quiet mixed. I went for this cos saw a few recommended in my car whatsapp group.

probably give it a go, if not up to expectations then sell to my friend
*
Hankook usually can provide good value, dont expect too high. My experience even Korean Nexen tires did better than few local/China brands, but many also say this brand no good/bla bla bla reasons... laugh.gif I did my research, bought a set of Nexen RU1 for my crossover and perform well over 60000km without any flaws. thumbsup.gif
