wanna ask if owes drive long distance, what is the mileage for michelin ps4?
*
Different driver behavior will got different mileage, if you always speed like hell and jack rabbit (heavy foot) at traffic lights or stops, enter corners like no brakes 30~40k also finish treads. If drive conservatively some can even last 60~80k. laugh.gif There is no true answer on this.

Dear epjx31,

215/45R17
Toyota Altezza RS200
Michelin PS4

Front left tyre got punctured on the sidewall.
Yesterday learned from 1 tiktok video: tyre sidewall damage cannot be repaired.

Looking to replace front 2 tyres.
Drive style comfort and relax, car for balik kampung during weekend.

Considering
1. Maxxis Ipro Vitra <- High Performance (Malaysia Maxxis website claim it is UHP)
2. Bridgestone RE004 <- Max Performance
3. Ventus Prime 4 <- Premium Touring
4. Ventus S1 evo3 - closest dimensions is 205/45R17 <- Max Performance

Max Performance/UUHP > High Performance > Premium Touring

Appreciate your advise.
Thank you.
*
Personally, PS4 is the top UUHP/Max Performance tires in market beating even the newest PS5 tire in term of performance.
If you can let go of the higher performance and go for comfort and relax style you will need to downgrade to premium touring type tires.
In the list only Ventus Prime 4 is in that premium touring category, the rest is either in Max performance or UHP tires range.

Bridgestone Potenza Adrenaline RE004 should be an entry level UHP. Above this tire should be Bridgestone Potenza Sport.

Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 K127 is also a UHP tire. Above this should be the new Hankook Ventus S1 Evo Z K129
*
You may go into this website link and check the tire category for the related 1.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Bridgestone/

Potenza RE004 is in Max Performance category, Only the old RE040 is in UHP tires.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Hankook/

S1 all series are in Max Performance already, only the old Evo V12 is in UHP

No idea why tyre manufacturers downgrade for the latest of their products
*
Max Performance is higher category than UHP, i believe is upgraded.

1.Track/Competition
2.Extreme Performance
3.Max Performance/UUHP
4.UHP (Ultra High Performance)
5.High Performance
6.Premium Touring

Is it a good idea to pair Maxxis Victra IPRo or Hankook Ventus Prime 4 at one end with Michelin PS4 at the other end?

Should I choose tyres that are equal/almost equal to PS4 i.e. Bridgestone RE004 or Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3?
*
You can pair, but if you into hard driving or cornering at high speed better dont, as different tires might got different limitation. Especially the rear tires will need better performing tires to help. If your putting the lower performing tires in the front maybe still can.

i have a question. is an all weather tyre good for Malaysia or must go summer tyre only?
*
All weather means also can use in summer, no issue with that.
I used a lot of all weather tires for my SUV, as it can tackle mud situation if got M+S rated on tires.

Yes, why not. Are you chasing for performance or what? Normal drive no issue with it.

my size is 225/60/17 and not so many options.  primacy 4 i use for the hrv is good for comfort but i dont like the way it feels on the road.
falken ze310r is another option and the yokohama xt ae61.
i did some research and i read good things about the kumho crugen hp71 thats why i asked about all season tyres.
*
I use Pirelli Scorpion Verde which is all season, no issue also.

225/60/17 if you prefer comfort and not demanding, Pirelli Russo, Goodyear Efficientgrip should got similar size.
Budget wise Toyo CR1 also got, another budget brand Giti Comfort SUV520.

Hey guys! Looking for a touring tire and currently using michelin's ps5..

Size is 235/45/18

I've broken down to a few brands would like the feedback from each model

Goodyear Comforttred - seems like not many ppl use these tires and upon some research some say after 20k mileage the tire behaves differently

Conti MC7 - Most popular tire in Lowyat

Michelin e-primacy - great all rounder

Pirelli Cinturato Rosso - Not too much review on this new tires as well

Hankook VP4 - Great value and comparable with the big guns above
Should I just go with the trusted and tested Primacy? I would love comfort(less noise and less vibration) and good grip from these tires
*
If your looking for performance tire, PS4 is more better than PS5. PS5 is kinda downgrade and only good for treadwear.

PS5 = Max Performance tire/UUHP

The nearest competition for similar tire category for local market should be the tire models below:-
Michelin PS4 = More better overall performance but treadwear lower
Goodyear Eagle F1 A5/Sport
Falken FK510/520
Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3

The tire model you listed mostly are under premium touring tires which is for normal comfort based.

Read your old replies in other threads about Falken 310 and Falken 832.

In terms of performance : price ratio, Toyo CR1 is better than both Falken 310 and Falken 832?
*
Yes, coz it is local made and some really can give better value compare to Falken nowadays.

Thanks so much guys, haha yeahh i listed touring tires because i don't really drive fast but also want the safety of good grip and aqua planning.. So not to sure if i do really need a UHP tire..

If lets say I do not want UHP tires, which model of touring would you recommend?
*
Depends on your budget.
Personally i recommend Hankook as Ventus prime 4 is the latest update in market follow by Pirelli Russo
Yokohama Advan Db also another underdog, as this is one of the lowest noise tires in market.

Michelin Primacy 4
Bridgestone Turanza T005
Goodyear Efficientgrip
Pirelli Cituranto Russo
Hankook Ventus Prime 4
Falken ZE310
Yokohama Advan Db V553
Toyo CR1

Over budget, and in my opinion, Michelin tyres very overrated
*
If just want quiet, comfort and cheap just buy CR1.
If want better performance in term of braking Hankook VP4 is a good choice on middle range budget.

How is CR1 compared with CC7? In terms of comfort and quiet
*
CC7 is way overprice for a lower entry tire from Continental, rather get CR1 as it is more cheaper.
Unless CC7 selling cheaper than CR1, then only worth to pick.

Anyone knows what type of form that’s placed inside of giti p10 which apparently reduces the noise? Importantly any shops in KV is doing this…😝😝😝
*
Those foams if not mistaken come factory fitted as options for some premium tires.
If you want to do it DIY, may ask those doing sound dampening shops on acoustic foam which can be used in tires internal.
They should got some idea which foam is suitable or buy it from Taobao, usually marketed as EV tire acoustic foam.
FYI, they are pro & con, the con = tire weight will increase and may impact fuel consumption and slower pickup.

In terms of road noise, based on my experience Toyo CR1 is significantly better (less noise) than Michelin Primacy 4.
*
Yes, agree. Nowadays Michelin Primacy only good in wet & dry braking, if talk about comfort, silent tire even the cheaper Toyo CR1 SUV did better.

The current TOYO from ori HONDA I’m having not really silent and thought there’s some even quieter one..
*
Toyo got many models, outside selling not the same model and usually more better.
Example like Yokohama, Subaru Xv CKD factory tires using Yokohama BlueEarth E70, but outside Yokohama is selling the AE61 model which is even more better and cheaper compare to factory fitted tires. You need to ask what model they are selling outside tires shop, not all Toyo models are bad.

Hello sifu,

I’m looking for quieter tyres for my Honda City 2015, however, also want to have sufficient stability and grip. My driving style is average. I don’t speed much, average speed 80kmph, max 120kmph.

What would you recommend? The workshop nearby recommended Goodyear ATM2 or Maxguard.

Thank you.
*
First of all, there is no perfect tires and what is your budget and what tire size? Honda City got 2 different tire size depending on spec.

Hello, my tyre size is 185/55R16.
I’d just like a set of affordable tyres (hopefully =< RM500 for a pair) that produce much less road noise. Current tyres are Goodyear Excellence.

Thanks.
*
If you want reasonable budget/affordable tyres wit less road noise just get Toyo CR1

Anyone using Goodyear Assurance Maxguard? Ayam using GY Assurance Triple max for my City (185/55/R16) at the moment and it's about time to replace them.

Triplemax macam wears out very fast.
*
How much km wears out? Did you always rotate your tires & do allignment on time? Is your suspension condition still good (absorbers, lower arm bush?) and how is your driving style? Always like to speed, heavy braking or go in corners high speed? A lot of factors can cause high wear out, from my experience of using Goodyear, usually their lower range tires last quite long until people complain of noise & crack due to hardern rubber compound over the years using.
