would the size increase be a problem ?

185 to 205 ...

rim size 16inch 7jj et42 ...
*
Do you know increasing size can effect a lot of factors from fuel consumption, speedometer accuracy, VSC/ABS efficiency, ride handling and also increase weight (Unspring Mass)

https://www.driveautosports.com/performance...en%20lug%20nuts.

Read this if you did not knew about it.

Engineer spend so much time & test to get the best tire size for your ride. What makes you think any tire size also can use?

Thanks for Posting,
However, are there any After Market Shock Absorbers - that are adjustable and are better (in terms of comfort, ground clearance,..)  than the stock Perodua Shocks ?
I aaaaaaam very happy with my small, "Malay Car", and intend to keep this car for the ret of my Life
*
First of all, can give us to know how is your & passenger body weight? Not to discriminate, are you a bigger size person? or always fetch heavy stuff?

If yes, there are aftermarket heavy duty springs or buffer rubber tied in between springs (which i don't recommend) to support heavier load.

BTW majority of adjustable absorbers are not for comfort but more into performance (handling), if you want comfort get normal absorbers and maybe upgrade the springs into heavy duty type.

Besides that, better go to mechanic shop to check. Sometime spoil absorber mountings also can be the reason.

Thank you. I will go ask and check it out.

If your driving SUV, get the 1 rated with SUV tires.
Normal road tires the sidewall is not durable compare to like SUV rated.
For Hankook equivalent SUV tire should be Ventus S1 Evo3 SUV for your 19" size

https://www.hankooktire.com/my/en/tire/vent...5&fr=55&inch=19

Another honorable mention from Korean side: Nexen RU1

Equivalent to Hankook value: performance ratio tire brand: Falken FK510 SUV

If just want cheap/budget option: Toyo CR1 SUV

Is the CR1 the worst performer of the lot?
*
In term of what? Budget tires sure cannot be compete with higher range tires in term of performance.
If just want cheap & comfort tires CR1 does the job well. You pay what you get.

Hi tyre specialist, are these tyre still usable for another 1 year? Just barely reach 5 years of manufactured age, already can see the skin wrinkles...
*
Why not? That is on the treads and very minimal.

Most premium tire brands models also will get similar condition after few years or usage, if no serious crack line on the sidewalls or metal shreds/wire mesh come out/seen it is still usable.

When is your tires manufacturing date? I have seen even worse condition and used without issues, if below 5 years and moderately driven it can last until the end of the lifespan. Unless you like to drive like a racer and a lot of high speed cornering than is better to change.

Middle of the tread but is at the groove. U mean after using string seal plug? Just did it ytd, actually the screw stuck inside for quite some time but the pressure before sealing is 30psi, normal is 36psi. Gonna monitor for 1-2weeks
*
Middle of the reads why worry so much? If your on the sidewalls then different story.

cos search google most say the plug is temporary only lol.
*
If no leak why worry so much? Some of my plugs i buy from Mr.DIY use until today no leak also and still drive as usual.
Unless is very big hole or hit sidewall, then the inner round patch or some people say rat tail patch will need to be use.

Opinion needed here,

Should I change my 2021 Vios rim from r16 to r17?
Currently using stock 195/50/R16 tyre and am planning to change tyre soon so am also thinking whether to upgrade r17 or stick to the stock r16

Thanks in advance

First of all, your car still got warranty or not. If your car still maintain and service in SC and still got warranty (Usually 5 years or 100k) better stick to original size. Any changes to non authorize part from outside SC will consider as warranty void/gg. I got friend just upgrade from steel rim or sport rim (non original from Toyota) also warranty gg for just 1 year car when want to claim for steering rack. laugh.gif The tire shop some more tell him warranty no impact 1, now the tire shop help bare 50% of this repair job (steering rack issue), but condition is to fix at his shop. (Mostly still chop him, since steering rack repair cost quite a lot.)

Need some opinion. Currently using myvi g3 standard rim and tyre. 185/55/15 goodyear assurance tripplemax V1.

I think because of the tyre noise, passenger feel like im driving faster than im really am. So i’m thinking to using a quieter tyre.

After further research i think continental UC7 to fits my need of having quite tyre without having too much compromise on performance or wet safety.

My only concern is below:

1) would it void any warranty coz UC7 smallest size for the standard rim are 195/55/15. While the original tyre are 185/55/15 -> Yes, if strict any changes from original size will void warranty.

2) if i turn the steering at full left or right, would the tyre hit the fender? - No, coz the increase is minimal +1.7% in diameter size

3) does the slightly wider tyre increase fuel consumption by alot? Or it’s minimal for example less than 5%? Yes, for sure will increase but depends on your feet/fuel padel control

4) would it affect the various ADAS feature? - Yes, coz vehicle height got changes. If strict need to recalibrate = more money waste.
*
Bro, so many tires in market which can provide quiet experience with original size.
If you want quiet and good in wet safety can ask for Michelin XM2+, Yokohama Es32 tires for comparison.

Besides that, did you really confirm is tire or bearing issue? Coz usually bearing is the one which is louder.

If you ask michelin, max 10 years. After 5 years, check yearly by professionals/experts.

I been using other brands tires, if did not expose to extream sunlight & went thru pot holes like nothing it can last easily 7~8 years or more. My father's classis VW bettle some no brand China tires been OTR for more than 10 years still no crack or hardening feel coz always kept under shade.

Hi guys,

I'm driving a VW Tiguan,4motion(AWD) SUV with 235/50/R18.
Front is MC6 and rear is Hankook S1Evo3.

The S1Evo3 was newer compared to MC6, but currently it was touching the wear indicator and only managed to travel around 11k km. The wear for all tires were even. I was surprised why the S1Evo3 wear out so fast.

BTW, the S1Evo3 and MC6 Treadwear indicated as 300 and 340 respectively.

Anyway, is about time to replace the S1Evo3.
What is the next better tire or equivalent performance with S1Evo3?
*
S1 Evo3 is UHP tires, the nearest from Korean side with similar UHP & SUV rated should be Nexen RU1.
Other brand to consider Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV, Falken FK510 SUV.

TS, have you heard of this Thai tire company, OTANI?

What is your opinion of the passenger car tires from this company?
*
Personally felt overrated for Thailand made budget tires.
As the pricing is almost similar or more expensive compare to like local Toyo & even Maxxis tires.
If the price is cheaper maybe can consider, if similar or more expensive better just pick Toyo or Maxxis tires anytime over it.

Toyo CR1 is my goto alternative for comfort and quiet. But no where near quiet as Primacy.
Do they still have NE3?

Bro, your taking a mid brand tire againts top brand tire, the cost also difference so much and you expect similar or better results?

If just want very quiet tires can consider Yokohama Advan Db series.

Guys, comparing Michelins primacy 4st and PS5, comfort wise, is it differ a lot? Currently on Turanza T005a, which one would be a better upgrade? In term of performance and comfort. Not a spirited driver btw.
*
First of all did you knew about tire category?

Primacy = Premium touring tires
Pilot Sport = Max Performance/UUHP tires

When you knew about tire category than look into it

Turanza = Premium touring tires
Potenza = Max Performance/UUHP tires

FK510 out of stock already and has been replaced with FK520.
FK520 for size 235/50/R18, 1pc RM680. More expensive than S1Evo3.
Looks like S1Evo3 is the value for money tire.
*
But you feedback short lifespan, not sure how to be value if it keep on changing in short period.
You need to consider calculate the money to like how much per km it last

If that is the case, you can try Maxxis Victra I-Pro.

They are also available in 235/50R18. They should be cheaper than S1Evo3. Less than RM450 per piece.
*
I believe Maxxis Victra I-Pro also quite short lifespan, if he is looking for budget without considering short lifespan should be no issue.

Would be better to go for HP5 from Maxxis Premitra, it beats Michelin and other big brands in term of dry & wet braking. icon_idea.gif

So have you decided yet? I am using the same size tyre on my Ford Focus. Currently using Primacy4. My concern is the longevity of the tyre.
*
If you want longevity, just continue either Primacy or UC series. I got 1 salesman friend which always travel between northern to central area and feedback to me the old UC6 tires he manage to hit 100k before change. FYI, he always travel on highways & rotate the tires every 10k.
