Yeah, i did went through webpage to see if it suitable or not, and those page did answered my question

But I just need a person who have hands on experience on tire engineer to give his opinion.
3 - even if the person works in tire co? I am asking specifically if such discount exists if he/she working in tire co directly. Like those super cheap air fare for those working in airlines.
*
Engineers usually did not mix with sales & marketing. Even if yes also consider insider trading which is not allow publicly.

If you want better offer go check their fb page or official distributor and ask few nearby tire shop for price comparison.

My former company did provide staff discounts, but its rarely utilized. Like I said, you can get better deal on Shopee and Lazada compared to the staff discounts
Not to derail the thread but insider trading is only for securities not for items sold by the company  sweat.gif
*
Bro, it can be material. I personally knew 1 Toyo/Silverstone engineer from Taiping/Kamunting usually these tires are for internal stuff use only and not to sell for outsider, if got cheap offer for public those are being sold by distributors. He also feedback if the tire is not on vehicle and want to bring out, they (security) purposely cut to make it damage and unable to sell to public.

hi all,
currently on a set of UC6, 215/55/R18 milage 4,500km. as these few days raining, personally i find it is not really great for wet.

any recommendation for other tyres?
*
https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-AZ...V-Tyre-Test.htm

This is the nearest 215/55/R17 tire test.

FYI, what you need in wet? Wet braking, handling, hydroplane? Too many variance.

If base on latest test reviews from this website, Wet Braking champion now leading is Maxxis HP5. Yes, the Taiwan tire brand.
Primacy 4 only manage to be 2nd on the test results and Wet Handling & Straight Aqua is even worse.

Michelin only good in wet braking at no.2 and not all, so if you want to consider like wet handling & hydroplane resistance you might be better to look for other options like Maxxis HP5, Bridgestone T005 or Goodyear Efficientgrip.

bought 2nd hand remove out from civic fe. yalo i wonder why honda did not give mc6
earlier i was using turanza gr serie
*
FYI a lot of people want to ditch the MC5 tires, very weak side wall try not to hit pot holes or curb at high speed.
A lot of complaints around the net & forums, except for run flat model.

FYI local market BMW E90 & Porsche Boxter 986 already using MC5 tires as standard, that is nearly 10~20 years old model.. laugh.gif But luckily those are run flat type..

Guess you're getting similar enquiry all the time, ha, been trying to go through the posts but still haven't seen anything can help me.(I haven't go through all of them yet)

Okay, looking for new tyres now for my cx5, 225/55R19
I think you have been hearing this all the time, PS4 SUV ?
But then at the back of my head still thinking of looking 2nd option.

Mate, what's your suggestion ?
Any other option that is very close to michelin PS4 SUV or Primacy suv+ that I should take a look ?
*
My suggestion for 2nd choice

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Search/Size/225...9/Season/Summer

Falken Azenis FK510 SUV
Hankook VP3

Usually Falken & Hankook are best in value at mid to upper range model

Goodyear Efficientgrip SUV
Bridgestone Alenza 001

Goodyear & Bridgestone also similar to Michelin couterpart.

If budget range can consider GITI tires, OEM tires to Proton X70
If not mistaken is under GitiComfort 520 model.

Is there any recommended tyre vendors in Penang who are on lazada/shopee? Planning to purchase online using 0% installment and install in seller's workshop.
Normally tyre shop take credit card payment with additional 3% markup due to bank charge.

Thanks
*
Tell you really, you might think buying online can save on the tires.
But when u want to install, tire shop will charge higher in other way like balancing, workmanship & alignment.
Unless you got all the equipment's and can DIY than go for it, if not in the end also LPPL when you calculate overall cost.
Most Penang tire shop include all the balancing, workmanship & alignment cost into the tire cost thus you might felt expensive.
Ask the shop if they got include all these without any extra charges, if yes than it is worth paying it.

Hi, my new Alza comes with TOYO Proxes CR1 195/60R16. The rims are 6J.

1. Is it wise to upgrade to from 195 to 205?
2. If yes, do I need to maintain 60R16 or reduce to 55R16?
3. This being my primary daily to work vehicle and also long travel vehicle, is is wise to opt for Michellin Primacy 4 ST or PS4 ST

Many thanks in advance.
*
First of all, what do you think upgrade to wider tires is a good idea? Wider tires does not mean better performance as your ride is still a MPV.

Since your buying new Alza, changing different tire spec. can void your car warranty especially related to suspension, steering rack & if strict even gearbox. Unless you dont care about warranty please proceed.

If you got a lot of cash you want to buy Michelin Primacy 4, just go for it. Personally i will look into the car, driver requirement and budget. Nowadays i recommend by comparing value:performance ratio tires from middle range brand like Falken/Hankook. Goodyear also getting more and more better in term of performance nowadays.

At least in my experience i didnt have to pay anything. Just showed them my purchase history in the app and they did the work. No additional charges. Klang valley shop.
*
If the shopee or lazada link got include the shop name/address & mentioned about free installation than good to go. KL/Selangor a lot of tire shop are very competitive in throwing price in order to hit sales target, but to drive up from Penang to KL just to change 2 or 4 pcs of tires dont think it is worth unless the tire cost can contra & save at least RM300 (to cover the expenses, fuel & toll travelling) above per change.

Thanks for your reply. Wonder if anyone here can recommend a good tyre shop in Penang with competitive price and okay service quality?

My ride is a 2014 Honda city running on 185/55/r16, any recommendation for decent tyre around rm240-270 each? Travel long distance on weekly basis, with around 10k mileage every 3-4 months.
Currently running on Goodyear ATM2, but feel that it is getting very noisy after 1 year (~40k km) of driving. Thread wear is about to hit the mark, thus getting ready to replace them soon.

Should I upgrade to 195/55/r16 instead of staying 185/55/r16? Ride is kinda bumpy in the rear Honda city (not sure about others, maybe it's my bad suspension) so don't wanna reduce the tyre profile.
*
No, if using original sport rim dont simply change tire size. Especially with a lot of safety related sensors like ABS & VSC, any different size will impact how they perform.

Honda Absorbers got 1 weakness is once reach 5 years or fetch heavy stuff a lot there is a "time bomb or bush" inside the absorbers will self destruct and cause the absorbers to jam and need to change. Ask mechanic to confirm the absorbers condition first, if yes u only got 2 choice change aftermarket replacement absorbers (usually Kayaba) or sent for custom modify to remove the bush inside. Custom modify nowadays are more expensive compare to new replacement as it will make your absorber last long (Can consider lifetime of the ride) and serviceable.

Thank you for your advice and input bro.

The reason I posted this question is because, in my previous Alza (2014 model), I was using PS3 all the way. It was superb especially on wet braking and good tyre response time. But it was very noisy. The stock tires were Silverstone 185/60R15, but I upgrade it to PS3 195/55R15. But I realised that the speedometer was inaccurate, and the side thread worn out quickly. The PS3 usually last me for +/- 45k – 50k mileage.

This time, a person asked me to try Primacy 4 ST instead of PS4 ST.
*
BTW, do you know tires got many category?

PS3/PS4 - UHP (Ultra High Performance)

Primacy 4 - Premium Touring (Falken ZE310/Hankook VP3 - Same Category)

Silverstone or Toyo original/cheap tires - ECO/Touring

When you understand the different tire category, each of their pro & con then go further up into sport rim offset and width, alignment/camber settings.

To change to bigger wider size without proper knowledge is just wasting your tire potential, for new ride usually i would recommend to stick to original tire size until warranty over. Upgrading to Primacy 4 would be a step up in-term of overall but dont expect performance level like PS3/PS4.

I got salesman friend using Continental UC6 drove over 80k still not reaching the wear indicator yet, he told me if not because he got family or baby to fetch the tires he felt can easily reach 100k. He travel a lot from Ipoh to Kelantan to do sales, so even with a lot of hill roads driving the tire still can take the abuse. BTW he really take good care of his ride, every 6~7k sure will go service, rotate & alignment thus why his tires can last long.

What car tho?
*
FYI, my salesman friend ride is Subaru Xv STI version 2015. Fitted with 225/55R17 Continental UC6 previously (now latest if not mistaken is MC6).
Most people think AWD rides will make the tires wear faster, but in reality not. If you drive moderately and always rotate and check your alignment settings it can last long as normal FWD cars also.

Just a friendly reminder that the UTQG isnt comparible between brands ya. 280 treadwear on a Michelin doesn't mean that it will wear out similar to a 280 on a Goodyear/Conti/Hankook etc.
*
The UTQG is tested in lab & act as reference for buyers, in reality it depends on how the owner drive it.
Even with the same tire brand with different driver also can come out different results. Just imagine both same size Michelin Primacy 4 tires, 1 always layan corners at high speed & pick up like drag race from traffic lights, while another driver drive normally.. who will think it will last long? Simple logic.

Guys, is nexen tire okay? For normal usage. Wan comfort.
Size 205/55/r16.

No size at my place. How about westlake? if westlake vs lingloong, which one better?
*
Nexen what model? If you ask me the Korean brand is more reputable in international market compare to any China brand.

If die die want to use China brand, Westlake is famous for cheap performance tires.

they said nexen no size for my tire. so have to go for china brand lol. Ok noted, cos lingloong is bnd3 cheaper, probably just go for westlake. thanks.

if nexen can comparable to michelin? or same level toyo tires those?
*
Nexen is in budget mid range tires, they are not michelin premium level. Consider similar range as Toyo, but their Nexen SUV tire range is way better.

Hi guys, westlake no more stock they offer me BND58/pc lanvigator comfort 2 lol. So far i tried the feeling not bad, plan change 4pcs but they no stock. Normally if change only front tyre, need do alignment?
*
No, please no. If want to change just 2pcs never put in front first (Always put new tires in rear) unless the rear is different size or staggered/wider rims.

Dont simply just change no brand tires, if Westlake dont have ask for more famous brand like Giti, Sailun, Maxxis, Nankang alternatives. Some no famous brand cheap tires the rubber composition really bad, my mechanic encounter 1 cant even do normal patching job from outside due to nail and need to do open up the tires do the inner patch + adhesive due to poor rubber composition (hard to bond with the patch). The normal patch unable to seal it with normal adhesive, just imagine at rural area if no spare tires, your tires will keep leaking air even with the patch. doh.gif

Tried getting a friend to listen while i drive by a few times. Cannot identify which side.
Actually now, not even sure it's coming from the front or rear. Feels like the front though.

The humming most loudest at around 35 km/h... maybe some resonance thingy hmm.gif
*
Bro, did you ask mechanic to jack up your car with 4 wheels on air while someone inside help start & stepping on fuel to see which wheel got sound? some mechanic they got some machine which can help spin your wheels imitating driving on high speed. If got sound with either one of the 4 wheels on air means something wrong with your bearings (wheel or gearbox) or driveshaft. This at least help eliminate or identify some of the concern before going just for the tires.

Guys,

i'm currently using Civic FC with PS4 at stock sizes, 215/50 R17. But since PS5 doesn't have that size, they have only 215/45 R17 and 215/55 R17, should i go for 215/17 R17 for PS5..?
*
There are a lot of reports feedback PS4 does better overall compare to PS5, FYI PS5 is not a replacement for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 AND 4S.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/What-is...lot-Sport-5.htm

The only advantage PS5 over PS4 is only the tread life, the rest PS4 did better overall performance.

The biggest changes to the PS5, when comparing it to the PS4, seem to be vastly improved wear. Michelin have always been one of the leaders in wear, but it's fair to say the PS4 fell short of its usual standard, often performing averagely at best in wear tests.

Unfortunately, increased wear usually opposes grip during development, which means a huge jump in tread life like this, often reduces grip.

PS4 = High performance, high wear
PS5 = lower performance, lower wear

I will stick back to PS4 since want buy this performance tire is for what it is intended.

Bro, did you ask the official Michelin distributor? Even my ride with special size rubber also can special order with the correct distributor. Is all about getting the right source.

https://www.michelin.com.my/

Got to official website and find/locate dealers.

If michelin no more producing your tire size, go for other brands. Michelin is not always the top performer nowadays in every category, even Goodyear Eagle F1 A6 also beat them not sure why a lot of people mindset still think michelin must be no.1.. brand wash for too long.. laugh.gif

First of all, what car model your driving. If just FWD or RWD just put the newer tires in the rear.
Unless your driving AWD then need to change all 4.
