Unfamiliar with Sony. How many years android OS upgrades and security updates is expected?

Any inherent issues to take note of? Apparently the 1 iv had some overheating issues...

usually 2 major upgrade.. e.g. you have android 13 now, then you might stop at android 15.. security updates, monthly basis so far as per my experience for past Xperia flagship.

hmm.. if you need 2 accounts for 1 apps, like whatsapp dual numbers, sony cant make it.. cause it is mainly stock OS like pixel with very little Sony customized apps such as music, camera apps, etc..

Why Sony Malaysia still havent do preorder for 1V ?

Maybe ROI is too less. Register of interests form. So very hard to identify potential buyers. Last year May pre-order.. in the end, end of July or 1st Aug only get the phone.

actually for dual apps, can use island app and it will duplicate the app under work profile

Ya if you mention about work profile. But it is not same as some built in feature like china phone. But yes, always have some other workaround..

hmm, at this point , I am willing to buy the HK set. But i wonder if I can send it to Sony center to repair.

never try it before.. but for original MY set, i did experience with them and it's good.. basically just a few days and will get notified about replacement is done.. xperia 1 (within 1 week), no repair but 1-1 replacement.. wf-1000xm4, battery drain issue, change the battery and fixed the issue.. within 3days..

i think they will repair too, but for mobile phone have to send it over to KL the curve there if not mistaken.. but u could pretend and have a call to them first before you purchase 1 V.. lets say you have 1 IV and got screen issue, can they offer repair service with charges?

Err for Sony playstations, you can't buy an import set and have the warranty serviced at Sony Malaysia but I'm sure this will apply for mobile phones as well.

Logically that should be the way also else everyone will buy cheaper import units instead of local warranty units.

For warranty I understand , I was asking for repair .

Sony Malaysia does not entertain repairs even if you want to pay for it. This is for their playstations...

Me would probably wait after July before getting the Xperia 1 V to replace the current Xperia 1 III.

1) better chipset
2) better battery
3) better camera apps
4) better CMOS
5) better grip on the back case
6) better front camera for video call
7) one more point-and-shoot camera 😁
8) better support as external monitor for mirrorless camera.
