What type of protection, I see also no difference?
*
There is a layer of film to protect against scratches.. like a screen protector. Customize by taiwanese sifu on phone. Usually we could get front screen protector and back screen protector. Side very rare. Some phone might have skin protector.

This is useful for me as I'm using Sony style cover while side of phone are fully exposed..

Btw, Sony Xperia 5 IV was announced & started to accept preorder at price MYR 4899 (slightly increased from 4599 Xperia 5 III, due to inflation i believe)
Preorder gift - LinkBuds S worth RM929, Premium Clear Casing, RM50 TnG, Tempered Glass Screen Protector
https://store.sony.com.my/products/xperia-5-iv

to recap: it still maintain Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (Not Plus version).. good thing it came with 5000mAh battery.. even it is inefficient as plus variant, but still maintain 1 day usage battery life.. And Malaysia bring in 256gb ROM option.. in fact they stay at 256gb for quite some time and big brother should have 512gb to diffentiate the gap and different series.. so storage is a plus sign..

If warranty not concern than actually you can buy the highest rom version with cheaper price than official model price, HK/TW model

But really depend on people

If 'U' are very concern about very little thing then oversea set not for 'U'

So what do you guys think of the price for Xperia 5 IV ?
For me, I would be comfortable at RM3800 . RM4899 are too much .

Sony really need to revise their price range

Pricing wise, always prefer as low as possible. Yes in fact there are a lot of choices with that budget. Unless super hardcore or like the features like eyes AF, 20fps, 4k 120fps.. else i think other options could fulfill daily needs..

Import unit always lower price due to Telco bundle contract plan.. too bad local set do not have any engagement or plan with telco..

Found 1 taiwanese that provide side edge protection in Penang . It's good especially who use Sony style cover where side protection is the least for phone..
Edited: there is a layer of film on top of phone body. You could see a bit of film texture. As normal body is smooth surface..

hi all, I'm interested in xperia 5 iv.

hk vs local set is only 200+ difference (on shopee) so is it wise going for local set?

Also for existing 5 iv users, is it true that snapdragon 8 gen 1 (non plus) processor will not overheat as claimed by some users? I just worry it will get overheat.

Unknown.. But the one who applied is taiwanese.. he is currently doing it at penang home.. mainly selling imos stuffs for iphone and samsung.. can customize skins too based on the facebook.. Skiny Phone Penang..

I think selangor can try ask for HAO Screen Protector.. so far i used about 2 week+ and the side protector still intact.. no sign of peeling off yet.. so im quite satisfied.. Price is high RM68 just fyi.. but im using sony style cover which side is fully exposed.. i do have some bumper case but personally prefer stand case.. so i just paid RM68 for testing..

if just RM200 diff of course go for local set.. currently got linkbuds S as free gift and RM50 tng reload coupon.. linkbud S can simply sell RM500 i guess..

regarding to overheat concern, i cant confrim on 5 IV.. but 1 IV with latest firmware, seriously no different as S22 series after some updates.. based on my test on gaming PUBG + livestream & genshin + livestream.. Pubg can hold 60FPS, but genshin impcat cannot hold 60FPS.. im not sure streaming will affect which i think it may affect a little.. but each test is about 1 hour and no app close.. genshin impact definitely could feel the heat.. temperature around 47~48 celcius on top part (camera that area)..

camera, i never get overheat sign anymore after updates.. but there is a way to trigger it.. Hi Speed Burst Shoots about 8 cycles (1600 photos).. overheat & lag.. app will close and show warning icon.. need rest for 5 minutes to cool down.. 4K 120FPS 3 minutes half also will quit.. but in case you really need to have longer duration for 4K 120FPS or other format, get a Sony camera bluetooth Grip GP-VPT2BT, it can enable camera endurance mode in setting.. it can record around 4K 120FPS for 1 hour.. if you are really need that.. haha.. it can unlock higher temeprature limit so you could contninue camera operation.. based on my self check, overheat warning and force close once u exceed 45 celcius.. with grip, even 48celcius and it still going.. heat is easily generated once you are at outside with brighter display + intensive app running.. so consider by your own.. in case you have any questions, feel free to ask..

not worth to get that at RM100.. it suppose to be free from telco.. is 5G really important to you? cause dont see the wide coverage yet.. but in case really want enable it, contact with customer service will be fine..

there is no. but if you purchase from sony store, they always came with 1 tempered glass and transparent tpu case.. can serve as temporary protection.. but if you purchase imported set like HK/TW, depend on seller then.. firmware side HK/TW/SEA looks like it's similar.. just warranty aspect is different..

if your phone is still doing good, not necessary to change it right now.. probably can wait for newer chipset (not guarantee will not overheat too) anyways, both Snapdragon 888, 8 Gen 1 not doing good.. even 8 Plus Gen 1 also.. it is better than 8 gen1 but definitely is not something wow.. look at z flip 4 benchmark & stress test will know ady..

even iphone 13 pro max played genshin impact also cannot hold 60fps.. once dropped, auto go to 45fps.. you will notice it but will not really affect gameplay experience.. unless you are super hardcore and must stay at 60fps and above, then have to go for gaming phone such as ROG, Red Magic, BlackShark..

i think the value of 1 IV/5 IV is showing the capabilities of hardware from SONY that capable to shoot 4K120FPS video (including HDR) and 20FPS burst shots + Eye AF.. couldnt say it is overkill digital camera which is impossible.. but it is handy as it could be in your pocket at all time instead of bringing camera + lens always.. i will suggest to people who know what they are doing and why they want to buy it.. if you prefer everything control by phone itself, better not..

i remain at SONY cause i really like the way they design the system.. e.g. telephoto zoom lens.. when we want to use zoom lens, xperia definitely let you use the zoom lens even in lower light/dark environment.. other phones that i bought, it auto switched to main cam and digital crop in.. but this is only achievable after Xperia 1 II.. Xperia 1 first gen series still behave the same as other manufacturers..

Thanks again for the insightful post. I'm not a hardcore gamer to begin with, so I think that makes it an easier decision (if I wanted to switch to Sony of course). I'm also bought into Sony's design language and the build quality -- It's kinda sleek!

I'm currently using S21 Ultra. You maybe right, it's no rush to get myself Xperia 1 iv now, but knowing Sony, their release to market strategy is really really slow, lets say they come out with a whatever new phone next year, we will definitely not get it until six months later.

Yeah I'm considering an imported set of Xperia 1 iv (HK set). I'm not sure what is its benefit over 5 iv (because I have not done enough homework yet) , maybe screen is better, at 4k? But I know the processor is one release older than 5 iv for sure, at Snapdragon 888, as long as battery can last for a day and a half and not overheating, I'm all for it.

im holding 4K screen from Z5 Premium till current Xperia 1 IV.. there are many generation (Z5P>>XZ Premium>XZ3> X1> 1II, 1III, 1IV.. Xperia 1 IV and 5 IV share same hardware in most aspect, 8 gen 1, 256gb ram, 5000mAh battery, all rear camera could take 120fps 4k video, 20fps burst shot with eyes AF, etc..

The only difference between both 1 IV & 5IV
1. Form factor - 5 IV have smaller footprint with 6.1 Full HD OLED 120hz vs 1 IV 6.5 4K OLED 120hz.. (4K display slightly consume extra battery)
2. RAM size.. 5 IV has 8gb of ram vs 1 IV 12gb RAM.. storage wise, 5 IV in malaysia having 256gb instead of 128gb in US/Europe region.
3. Telephoto lens.. 5 IV have fixed 60mm telephoto zoom lens while 1 IV have periscope lens at 85mm~125mm.. every phone could have extra 3x digital AI zoom

S21 Ultra 888 chipset.. i dont think any big difference yet in term of processing power.. 8 gen 1 slightly better a little.. im holding back on Xperia Pro-I with 888 previously. although 1 inch sensor sounds great for me.. but in fact, anything inside phone will not really create much difference in term of camera.. except 1 IV do have something i cant reject is all rear camera lenses support 4K 120FPS, 20FPS eyes AF and it let me close my eyes and swap credit card on that even it came with 8 gen 1 chipset..

i am looking forward for future xperia phone somemore..

If camera is really your concern especially indoors, then don't go for X10 series.
