I would suggest you to choose MacCity if available, visit them few times and they are fast ! Even able to help me few times with some out of warranty device (Of caused, still need to argue with Applecare agent).

Bad experience with Machines ‘s service center btw, not helpful + very slow process. (My own experience lah)

need some opinion from pros here, I am an project planner, so I cannot decide between this

macbook air M1 with 16GB 256gb ssd

or

macbook air M2 with 8GB 256gb ssd

my usage is alot on portability and i regularly needing to open illustrator to review the project work. Sometimes the PDF with lots of layer to open the architecture floor plans. Do we still choose the macbooks with high ram now or actually 8GB is sufficient? Also sometimes need to open adobe premier to review the videos created for the building promotional video.

I'd take the M1 model with 16GB RAM if I were you.

If me I still go for M2, the better display, better camera, MacSafe charging n newer built n sound system make up for all the Hoo-ha of 256GB SSD limitation. Plus it’s very unlikely SSD swap will occur. N you probably get longer MacOS update compare to M1 model.

If no budget restraint then always get the newer one for all the obvious reasons…even the basic model can last for many years..

Placed order on 24th July 2022 and it was delivered on 2nd August 2022. The shipping was surprisingly fast and earlier than the expected delivery date rclxms.gif

I've bought the 8-Core CPU, 10-Core GPU, 512GB SSD and upgraded the Unified Memory to 16GB. I only started using it for about a week because I was hospitalised and needs to undergo surgery sweat.gif

After a week of usage, I'm very satisfied with the performance. I upgraded the memory to 16GB because most of the time I need to run Parallels Desktop for my work so most of the time I run both macOS and Windows at the same time.

I don't feel any heat at all even I'm working from home without turning on air condition, the MacBook Air M2 doesn't feels hot or even warm at all and the best part because there's no fan in it, it's just complete silence thumbup.gif

My last MacBook was the MacBook Air 13-inch dated back in 2015 with i7 processor, 256GB SSD and 8GB memory. Decided to purchase and upgrade to the new M2 because lately most of the applications and OS needed more resources in order to perform and my old MacBook Air keeps giving me the 'colour wheel' issue which kinda frustrated me. Not to mentioned it gets heated up most of the time and kinda hot to touch it.

I'm very happy with the new MacBook Air M2 and I've got no complain at all. Although it's a bit pricey after upgrading the memory but I think it worth it and hopefully it can last me about 7 to 8 years like my previous MacBook Air happy.gif

I've bought the space grey colour. Went to see the the Midnight colour at Machines but doesn't come to my liking and Starlight is too striking for me rolleyes.gif

Hope you guys are loving the new MacBook Air M2 like I do wub.gif

That's a really tough decision to make, the m2 is better in everything but the 16gb is a deal breaker especially you'd need it for the type of work you're doing... I would still take the m2 though, as I think it will support you well enough for now (not sure about later when if you require more ram for heavier tasks), aside from other stuffs, hopefully the m2 make it up for the lower ram..

Anyone have any experience of purchasing customise MacBook from switch retailer? I have ordered a MacBook Air m2 16gb ram from them because they provide instalment option, but I didn't get any ETA updates or tracking to my order, but I believe they are doing the same things as making order from the apple official website, so I think the ETA might almost the same with the one that official website shown?
