Hi guys.

Not sure whether this is a right place to ask since you guys all talk bout the big toys.

But any owner of the new Yamaha Ego LC?

Would it be a good buy? Or should I opt for the good old Ego S?

Thanks in advance.

Yep it covers 250cc and below. Most 250cc bikes out there are either 248cc or 249cc anyways biggrin.gif

Problematic combustion. Try changing spark plug first. Maybe better if you service your carb as well.

@Z_ahutd: I thought it's cool to backfire. My friend's Kriss was like that when new stock, and installed a Stromberg. It backfires because of lean fuel condition when you chop of the throttle, if you don't like it, bring to mechanic or tune the pilot screw yourself.

How come lean fuel condition can be cool.. the piston will be overheating slowly then and will lead to a problem later on.

Seriously, get it re-set by a good mechanic.

First of all, thanks for the reply guys.

@alexei

It's not so cool dude.. I always get shocked by the explosion sound.. and it is little annoying sometimes..

So basically, I have to tell the mechanic to change my spark plug, service my carburetor and tune the pilot screw?

@z_ahutd: Yes, you can do that. When service carb, it will be taken apart. Once done, surely the foreman need to tune the pilot and idle for you. After that, it may or may not solve the problem.

I personally believe that it is normal for certain engine setup to backfire when you chop the throttle at high RPM, and perform an engine braking. I had a friend who owned a Kriss 100 also like you, drum brake first model. Service or not, the backfire will happen. Change plug also the same.

If you want, here's to confirm if ur engine is running slightly lean at idling throtttle.

Alright bro.. Thanks for the tip.. I'll try that as soon as I can.. I hope I will be able to solve it.. Thank you..

Sounds like a pretty beat up bike. I believe the piston ring or the engine block is damaged, therefore the engine oil is consumed together with petrol. In this case, it may also lose compression easily, making it harder to start. For the oil drain female thread, get a mechanic to rethread the lines. If that fails, then helicoil it is. Cost me 20 bucks to do one helicoil (brass) an engine block 2 yrs back.

Need to check. If the damage is on the cylinder bore, yes, you need to rebore it to smoothen out the damage. This means have to change cylinder. Along the process, some gaskets, bearings and maybe crankshaft also need consideration if need replaced. In the long run, nothing worse can happen; probably the unburnt EO will just clog up the spark plug and exhaust pipe.

Hi, I want an opinion & advise. I'm planning to do long journey (Klang, Selangor to Padang Serai, Kedah) next week. I'm using Suzuki V115S (disc brake, sport rim, tubeless).

- Any tool kit I should bring along beside the standard given tools?
- Is it advisable to do long journey on this motorcycle? I need to move around in Penang once I get there, so need transportation.

Go to bike shop, buy the cacing for puncture repair kit, or the aerosol type from car section of hypermarts. Ride on car lane, and less on motor lane, coz that's where ppl usually kena pancit.

Wear reflective clothing, and safety protections.

Check motor for oil, battery, tyre pressure and so on. Bring a can of chain lube, coz every 300 the normal chain need it already. Spare headlight bulb, in case you need to ride at night, but try to plan to avoid it.

For EO, since u long distance, better to use higher grade EO, at least 40 or 50 on the last number of the EO grade (eg: 10W-40). Engine will be running hot and all that heat will definitely propagate to the whole gearing system, so get better protection.

Lastly, check the weather and prepare for rain. Have a good one!

Bro Alexei , scooter no need chain oil as got no chain. correct?

Do not tailgate lorry or buses. Avoid them.
Before u start journey change ur EO, Fully syn recommended as like alexei said, leg pump, if you are using tyre tube then buy spare tube, if on tubeless then get the cacing puncture kit, but u can't use the leg pump for this, need to have high pressure pump like petrol station one.

No troubles. Well, if you're willing to pay for that level of service, then it's fair to ask those questions.
