he abandoned his motor for more than 1year so no road tax and insurance.

i got this from another forum. does that mean that we can only go for jpj as long as the condition of the motorbike is good?

QUOTE
utk kes r/tax moto dah mati lebih setahun ada 2 options :

1) Puspakom
-kena bayaran
-lambat
-detail tul pemeriksaannya

2) JPJ
-percuma
-pemeriksaan identiti jer, tak der la cerewet sangat.
-sebelom pegi, beli insuran awal2...lepas inspection leh ambik r/tax trus.

* kalau nak beli moto yg r/tax mati, bagusnya buat tukar nama dulu.
lepas tu baru---beli insuran---inspection---ambik r/tax---lalalala, balik dgn senang hati.

Yes, the headlight, brake light, signal lights, footrest, sometimes air filter, engine number, chassis number, side mirror, horn and body color matching to the geran.

Either way, must pass Puspakom, the difference is changing the name before of after that. Even the recommended is same like mine, go JPJ first then PUSPAKOM.

After tukar nama, make sure you go buy insurance, and then back to JPJ to ask for a 1-day permit, for the bike to be on the road to go to PUSPAKOM inspection... because you will be riding it without roadtax. It is free.

If you reach PUSPAKOM on the bike, and the inspector see you don't have the permit, you will kena saman on the spot. Unless if you bring it there on lorry.

The whole process, if you do it right, one day can settle in ~RM100 (JPJ stamp duty (RM3), insurance (RM30-50++), PUSPAKOM inspection (RM20 if not mistaken), and finally roadtax (RM2 at JPJ, RM4 at Post office).

I've done this twice by myself. smile.gif

hmm, alexei u seem to be familiar with motorcyle. i hope it doesnt trouble you to answer me other questions regarding motorcycles.

1. do u think used suzuki smash 2007(assuming condition is good) sold at rm1000 a great price(sans road tax and insurance of course)?

2. This motorcycle hasnt been used for more than 1 year. Should i bring it to motor shops for engine overhaul or any inspection that i must do?

3. Im planning to drive it down to kl from melaka, anything that i should take note of?

Thanks for the help.

Hi, you're welcome. If I wrong also can correct me.

Take a look at the bike yourself and perhaps tell me your observations.
If the oil, petrol and carb setting, brakes and electrics are ok, riding it to KL - Melaka should be fine. If possible, before doing that, get a few rough measurements on the full tank mileage before you really go on highway.

what is petrol cock? googled and it seems like a part of motorcycle so i dont really get what u mean.

Eo what is that? can give me full term plesae?

Starter? i tot that is the one we press on handle to get the motorcyle started? No?

U mean the battery must have been kaput by now since long time nvr use?

hmm, you think it is necessary to do an overhaul by now or bring it to any motorshop?

full tank mileage is how much oil can fit in the tank?

sorry im really noob when it comes to motorcycle.

Hope you don't mind if i help....

EO is Engine oil

By starting starter, he means the kick starter to check for the engine compression to detect if the valves are in good condition. Faulty valves mean no compression, hence the engine can't start.

It is unnecessary to do an overhaul for the bike if it is in a good condition. Just change the EO.

Fuel tank mileage is the the range of the bike before you ran out of fuel. So by estimating the range of the bike, you can avoid getting stranded at the highway due to you've ran out of gas. This is cause Kapcai's have a very small petrol tank. laugh.gif

There's 2 way of starting the bike. First using the electric starter ( The 1 @ the handle). Second is using the kick starter situated at the engine right beside the brake pedal. Just like how you start an old bike.

3rd party ok liao. I'm not sure which is better, can try Hong Leong Assurance (not Hong Leong Yamaha), go to branch give discout. Once I used Allianz it force me to buy personal accident insurance told me compulsory, but other one don't have. You should also see if the old insurance got NCD (discount), so bring it along to continue get the discount.
