Since the heat is so much of an issue, do you guys think it is a good idea to buy a after market ventilation fan that made for PS3?

Heat is always an issue to all the next generation console~!! I believe proper care with your console is the best solution. Don't "marathon" with your console

U may still marathon but make sure the environment of ur PS3 is cool enough and open enough for the heat to come out! Or just go buy those laptop cooler to cool ur PS3!

sounds more like a defective part or mis-assembly on the BD-ROM during manufacturing.

So now after looking on the points above! Let try to conclude something!
1. Lens malfunction due to firmware If not mistaken,the lens read any pirated thingy and those locking mechanism will create sum sort of code and when updating the firmware it will caused the lens to be locked(its only theory anyway ).
2. Lens spoil due to pirated stuff.Avoid any ps2 or ps1 pirated thingy.Anyone encounter this prob when running only pirated dvd??
3. Continuous play for long hour under hot or warm environment, read disc start to make noise!
4. Heard that sum ps3 user got problem wif their ps3 rotor that mulfunctioning.that might be one of the cause but as for now..is there any spare part rotor in sale??


ya..if u got money to spend...an aftermarket ps3 cooling fans should help cool of ur ps3...after bought my new ps3, got myself 3 cooling fans for both my ps3.the 2 front intake fans and 1 exhaust intake fans.

at least u can help those hot air out of ur beloved ps3...sum ps3 user had encounter the overheating problem where ur ps3 wont start even u press the switch like 100 time...wif this ps3 cooling fan,the chances ur ps3 to catch this prob will be decreased .

what version of ps3 we r talking abt? 60gb/80gb or 40gb?
i used my 60gb almost 10 hours straight everyday , but no ahem dvd playing of course
but my 40gb i seldom on maybe 2-3 adays coz it got less vendalation holes

as what ive seen at the shop...it seems all the effected ps3 only those wif capacity of 60GB and 80GB..and all regioned ASIAN PS3...HK n SG.

I think marathon thingy is not a problem, i also played resistance with my fren for half day near 10-12 hours but we were in an aircond room since we ourselves cant resist the heat ourselves!

my ps3 60gig H/K running 4-5 hours..non-aircon room..no problem.

i'm guessing toward the BD infant mortality since the technology still new to market and technology is not robust enough. yeah.. heat may play a role here...

Hmm can we tranfer the PS3 games save data to pendrive?
Scare if future my PS3 spoil or get a second PS3 but want to play those game with the old save data.

true can get new one but this is the classic one. so abit diff plus a game too..

yes u can transfer safe files.. tats why gamefaq got save files to share. . jus triangle thn safe to which driver u hv inside.

Wah plus a game also really good deal for those which haven't own one.
